I've held off on writing this review for some time, as I hadn't had sufficient experience with them to give a proper accounting. Unfortunately this is the one bad review that I must give, for anything purchased from this store. On putting them on for my third wearing them (once to test the fit and once out to an event) the leather around an eyelet tore and the eyelet popped out. The leather is simply too thin, to take the strain of lacing them up to anything vaguely approaching tight, as there are strain marks on several others as well. It's truly a pity as they are very comfortable and otherwise wearable.

I wanted to wait until I had used the belt before I said anything, to make sure the loops didn't loosen, or the buckle broke, or the tongue tear out. None of the above!!! The belt matches the holster perfect and is sturdy enough to take anything I have thrown at it, from scaling the rockies after trophy trout to wrestling hogs in the pouring rain in texas. Awesome product!!

Way better then I had anticipated! Uniform color throughout, no dye transfer, and the fit was perfect. (I carry a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 colt with a 7 and 1/2 inch barrel.) A very well made, rugged piece at a great price.

I love how this fit perfectly on my 14 year old son. If he were an adult I would caution that the coat runs slim and small. Otherwise the quality is great!

I needed a new white shirt with a collar for my show costume and the Victorian shirt with the high stand collar works perfectly. The shirt in combination with my new ascot look great.

The COLOR and FIT are extraordinary. After looking carefully over the website, and THINKING about material and color, inquiring about actual measures thru customer service, I ended up with a TREASURE! The issue of FIT, of course, depends upon how you're built, but i would say THIS vest requires a trim middle, "military" fit, at least if you ever want to button it. If not, wearing it open, it "hangs" well....or if you have a belly, I guess you might order up a size or so.....there is a clasp and belt in the back to cinch it in a little, but it's a bit rinky-dink, perhaps that was the style "back then". The COLOR is either camel or light BROWN-GOLD, and goes with just about anything, partcularly black or blues, including jeans, also greens and browns (probably darker), khakis probably not as well......the material is canvas, hard-finish, so this is an every-day thing, if you want....not a fancy. Supposed to be washable....seems like cold wash with light heat ought to be tolerable, though I haven't yet done it. Overall, sharp....gets comments, fun to wear....they could sell it a bit cheaper, but they make the market and so they deserve what they need to do biz....a discount for FUTURE purchases ($10)would be a winner for EVERYBODY!!

I bought this dress for a steampunk party! Easiest costume ever! It looked GREAT paired with a hat and some high-heeled boots. You can't go wrong with this dress - it's a great easy costume you can mix and match to make a few great looks. Plus, the bodice is VERY forgiving. I sized up one size just for luck, and I am never worried about what I eat (or ate!) when I wear this dress. Love it!

These gloves make punk easy as 1-2-3! I love these gloves - they fit just right, and wash in the laundry. I use them at the office to fight off the chill.

This is the only Steampunk skirt you need! Don't let the prim and proper ladies have all the fun! I chose to size up 1 size because the skirt is so form-fitting.

I like this helmet a lot. I would have given it 5 stars, but again, as I am finding when decorative/incidental leather work is involved with HE products, corners are cut. Leather quality and hardware (buckle, snap, etc.) could be, I'd be willing to bet, improved significantly for another $15. And I'd be glad to pay that, especially since the starting price is so reasonable. The adjusting hardware on the chin strap can be easily bent with two fingers, so I'm guessing it is meant to be ornamental and not utilitarian. Inside the crown the brown leather straps forming the web for fitting the wearer's head are linked together in the center with a fraying piece of white string--at first glance I thought it was an attachment for a price tag. As mere costume for stage or party, this is fine, and I have no complaints. But HE's clothing is of a higher caliber, one that makes it actually wearable, and that is what makes me a customer. I just wish a bit more of that ethic were applied to the accessories.

Yes, this hat is almost $80, but it is worth every penny of that. It looks and feels like a real hat, and it is a pleasure to wear. I have another similar hat that I paid significantly less for, but it has no substance or form, and the brim will take whatever shape it rests upon. I am glad HE does not, generally, cut corners on apparel.

Most definitely a prop. This should not be surprising considering the price. You CAN see through it by adjusting its length, though it's not really worth the effort, and I'm not at all certain it is 12x power as stated. But I did not buy it to find Blackbeard. I DO wish, however, that the leather case and strap were given a bit more consideration. The leather is thin and really quite cheap-looking. I'd gladly pay another $10-$15 for better leather and a bit more attention to detail. (If you dye the back and sides of the strap to match the black of the front, it improves the look, but replacing the strap is the better option, I think.) This is a classic example of "you get what you pay for." And because of that, it would be unreasonable of me to complain. It is what it is.

I purchased this product to wear while I work as a Conductor on a tourist railroad. It was important to me to find a coat that would reflect the 1880-1950 period in rail travel, since the railroad features some vintage equipment, including a coach that was built in 1917. I look completely at home on it. The coat fits perfectly, and is very well constructed and tailored. I could not have done better if I'd had a tailor fit me. I am completely satisfied with this coat, and could not be happier.

Seems well made, and sturdy enough for a modest sized adult. The tip is certainly orthopedic--a bear to get off in one piece--and I think most HE customers will want to remove it for a less clunky and more traditional look. I wish mine were darker, as it is depicted on the site, but I'm guessing consistent hue is difficult to achieve with bamboo.

I'm a big guy, and so I was worried that the sizing on this would not work out for me. However, it's VERY roomy, and I can even wear vest, shirt, and frock coat underneath. It looks great. And best of all, it has the heavy feel of old clothing. (I don't mean it looks old, it's brand new, but it's got a certain stiffness and heft that I associate with old clothes of this era that I've found in attics. In other words, it feels like a brand new antique- if that makes sense. I'm looking forward to wearing it every chance I get, and only wish it was still socially acceptable to wear a cloak like this every day. I would definitely recommend.

We originally ordered this shirt in a L size and it wasn't quite wide enough across from shoulder to shoulder for my 6'3 180 Lbs fiancé. We measured him again and the 2XL fit perfectly and he was able to do the collar up this time. The return was easy though and the item was received well before the expected time when we ordered it again. Very happy with customer service as they helped us out a lot. I would just make sure to really get a good shoulder to shoulder measurement before ordering to make sure you get the right size so you can do the collar up. :)

This Medium vest we received from the Historical Emporium fit like a glove on my 6'3 180Lbs fiancé. It came quickly and you can tell is made very well and with such a nice material! We will definitely be using this site again if we ever need more Victorian period clothing!

Love this skirt. I bought it to wear to a masquerade ball paired with a corset top. It looks fantastic. It does run a bit long, but that was easily solved by hemming the bottom. It hugs my curves, but I can still move well in it. The fit was very true to the sizing chart.

I bought this hat on an impulse for my husband for a Oct 31 Steam punk themed wedding. He is one of the groomsmen and was required to have / wear a hat. The price was excellent with absolutely incredible workmanship! My husband came from money and he was totally impressed. He also has a huge head and normally cannot buy a hat to fit. The measurements given were dead on. I would buy any hat again from these guys.

First off this product was awesome! With fat lady fingers, these gloves fit and were stretchable. Bought 3 for a wedding for myself and my two sisters. (The Oct 31-st wedding is Steam Punk themed.) All were pleased with these gloves. They were pretty and delicate with a ruffled edge. Everything with this purchase came quickly on standard post.

I waited two years to buy this coat and when I slipped in on for the first time I was immediately in awe over the feel of the fabric as it draped around my body. The quality of this coat has no equal. I still need to take the coat to a tailor to make the coat form fitting but this coat demands attention as is.

I love my jacket and it fits perfectly. The sizes given were confusing but just simply go by your measurements and you won't be disappointed. I love the detail of this jacket. I'll be wearing it with a blood red gown to a murder mystery masquerade dinner this Saturday and am so excited! I look forward to building my new wardrobe piece by piece! Hat looks great and physically will fit on my head but the racetrack shape is so stiff it will not seem to ever conform to my head shape and be comfortable leaving it pressing tight on t he forehead and back with gaps on the side.

I'm a little surprised I didn't buy these earlier. They're very nice on all counts. The pattern and color look sharp; bolder and more eye-catching than solids, but not so much that they're garish. The material is lightweight and comfortable. And they just look dang good. Frankly, I'm starting to think the matching vest is calling my name to go with these pants. In short: These are a good pick!

This shirt is a sharp one, and it looks good with anything I wear it with. However, as other reviewers have noted, the stripes are darker and bolder in person than they are depicted on the site. That isn't a problem that warrants sending it back with a stern letter (because it's a great shirt), but it would be nice to have photos depicting such products in natural light to see an accurate picture. No matter, though; I like it lots, and have my eye on the tan stripe one next...
