The quality of the Deluxe John Bull top hat is excellent. The on-line description accurately described the top hat. I recommend The Histoical Emporium to anyone who is looking for quality products and excellent service.

Hubby needed a new frock coat and this fit the bill. Price was great and with some alterations it fits nicely.

Good price for this vest. Hubby outgrew his. With slight alteration this fit beautifully.

Product arrived in good condition and on time. The only concern I would have is for larger gentlemen as I am 5'9" 195# and if I were to wear this over a coat it may be a bit snug. Other than this all is well.

I'm not sure a pre-tumble in the dryer would have tightened up the stitching as the material is stated as all nylon, but unfortunately about two hours into Dicken's Faire the side seam on the fingers of one of the gloves split in two places. They did not fall apart, as I wore them the rest of the day, but I will need to re-enforce the seams with needle and thread. For the low price charged it is not a bad trade-off for a few minutes work.

Was a good buy for sure but was alittle short. Overall was worth the money definitely warm, good use for a winter jacket in my opinion

I love this shirt so much that I ordered one in every colour after getting the first. The thick soft cotton washes well, with little need for ironing, and it is beautiful and so comfortable. The colour is more of a warm vanilla shade than "white". I get compliments just about every time I wear it!

I got this as part of a larger purchase for my husband-shirt, vest and tie. While the price of this item was a bit off-putting, I decided to go ahead and get it because he didn't have another tie that would have looked right. While it is well made and matches the vest, it barely fit-I had to adjust it all the way out and he kind of complained of feeling choked by it. Of course, the shirt I got him, while fitting everywhere else, also had size issues at the neck-he couldn't button the top button. Luckily, his beard is long enough that it hid the fact that his top button was undone. It all looked nice together, but for what little material the tie consists of, the price is a bit much.

I got this shirt for my husband as part of an outfit for a Christmas celebration our town puts on every year. I had been putting it off, but knew that just a regular shirt wouldn't do for an authentic Victorian/Edwardian ensemble. The material is heavy duty-not paper thin like some shirts I've bought for him. The buttons were well attached-another pet peeve of mine is buying clothing that the buttons fall off after one wearing and that will NOT happen with this item. The only downside is that the neck is too small-my husband is a big guy and I consulted the size chart and ordered what I thought would work. The rest of the shirt is fine-the shoulders are not too tight, he has plenty of room through the chest but he can't button the top button. Luckily, his beard hid the fact that he couldn't button it up all the way!

very good vest EXCEPT the buttons started falling off before I even had a chance to wear it...it is at a seamstress right now.

This is another adaptable separate that I've bought in two sizes--one for re-enacting over woolens for winter and one for summer (and regular wear). Like many other HE items, this is unexpectedly good quality for the price. Love the collar.

Terrific for re-enacting. Adaptable to several eras (e.g. Victorian through WW1, depending on undergarment and modified length), and ideal for winter outdoor use--the fabric is very high thread count, dense, heavy wool.

I love nearly everything about this blouse. The style is right up my alley and so wonderfully unique. BUT. It is super thin. Make sure you have a nice cami to wear under it and it's a little tight around the hips, though everywhere else fits very well.

I was originally shopping for these pants as part of a costume, however as I was shopping I read something on the site. It read something like, These trousers can represent authentic clothing for that time or just as easily be used for the occasion that would usually call for a suit. I'd much rather be comfortable and look just as nice or nicer in my opinion. Than suit guy any day. The choice is yours. I made mine do yourself a favor check them out. Cheers, H. Anxiety

My son - who is a large man - needed a vest for The Dickens Christmas Fair. I was not able to find this style of vest in a size 60 anywhere but Historical Emporium. It fit perfectly and both he and I are thrilled at how great it looked. We will be buying more items from you the future!

This coat is made by a different vendor that the brown one. That is really sad. I was disappointed to find the cape does not hang proper, kilted to the left side it hangs a wee bit off and feels lopsided when I put it on. It is also rather short, falling well above my knees. Historical Emporium was quick to respond to my request for an exchange and pointed out that there was nothing they could do about the length as this manufacture built all their coats the same way. They did offer to let me return the coat so they could look the the cape and asses the defective cape and replace the coat if warranted. This just seemed a wee bit time consuming and tedious I will have a local tailor have a shot at it and do what they may. The truth is it does not look as good as the brown one but it will do for my general usage.

This coat is really wonderful. Yes it is not wool however it is cut well and fits well. The cape falls correctly and the length is just right. I am not the tallest pine in the forest. I stand 5'6" tall and have a pretty good build. This coat fits my 46" chest really good. Doesn't flop about my 34" waist. It drops about three quarters of the way between my knees and ankles. It looks good and feels good. It is not lined as the description mentions and this can sometimes be a wee bit of an issue when putting on and talking off the coat. My shirt sleeves tend to drag inside the coat sleeves; this would be avoided if it were lined. This is the only reason I have rated this four rather than five stars. I like the coat and look forward to years of good use.

I wanted to find a shirt Santa might wear in his workshop or under his coat, and was pleased to find these. I love it. And based on the likes I got on my posting and link on one of my Santa Facebook pages, a lot of other Santa's like em too.

Unfortunately I returned this scarf as it was a bit flimsy.

The Abbingdon blouse looks lovely with my Victorian outfit. The material is a nice weight cotton, the workmanship is fine and I'm happy to say it has laundered without any problems. My only caveat is I ordered according to the measurement chart, but the blouse is at least one, and possibly two sizes too big. Since I wear it under a cape, the only place the size is really a problem is around the neck. Had I ordered it in time I could have exchanged it for a smaller size. Sigh. The sin of procrastination got me.

I have been looking for a real Victorian nightshirt and this one fills the bill. It is very comfortable and the perfect sleeping garment on those cold winter nights. It also helps to keep the ghosts of Christmas past at bay. So BAH to you Mr. Scrooge!

This is a beautiful jacket. 1st one came with a mark, but HE refunded my money. Ordered another and it is perfect. Do order one size up as it is slim. Wore it to a Christmas party where we smoked cigars, got many compliments. This is maybe my 7th or 8th purchase from HE, no issues ever.

We bought this suit for my husband who had a Swim with Santa event he needed a suit for. We are so pleased with how it looks and followed the advice of using red underwear and tshirt under suit so Santa was completely modest.

My first try at buying a blouse was a disaster. It was a large which is bigger then I usually buy, but it was tight around the breast area and the arms were so long that they reached below my finger tips. I also have long arms!!The skirt I ordered was large but had a waist size of about 17 inches. I sent them both back and reordered. The sizing is not anything what we are used to here. The skirt was elastic waist so it was OK although tight. The length again was terribly long and needed at least 4-5 inches off. I will have to redo the waist and take the length off there. It was the shortest skirt they had. I am 5 ft. 7i.n so I am not short. This blouse was big enough around the bust, But also very long and I will have to remake the sleeves. The fasteners on the blouse would not stay fastened. The neck was huge! I have not a clue as to what kind of a model they use for these outfits! It is a shame that whom-ever makes these clothes, which I suspect China, would be clued in to making them to a normal person's sizes. I should not have to remake them. The people at Historical Emporium were very nice. I went through the skirts and she gave me all the lengths. They could not have been nicer! They just need to talk to their suppliers. If I had problems, then everyone else had problems also. For costumes, they are made fairly well, but a waist if not made to fit anyone well.

I really like the coat, but I did have issue with the ease of sliding it on as a reviewer pointed when I was looking at reviews. A slicker sleeve liner would be helpful. I knew of this issue when I bought it and bought it anyway. I took it to a conference and received many compliments from many people. It was not a period group, but many loved it. Overall, I am glad that I have it and can live with the sleeve thing.

Amending earlier comment... Although the tie was really nice, I did not realize a diamond tie tack came with it, so I ordered a pearl tie tack to go with the tie. Either I missed something or it needs to be pointed out that the tie comes with a tie tack.

The tie tack is nice, but I really did not need it. I bought it to to go with the puff tie. I must have missed something, because when I bought the tie, I did not realize that a diamond tack came with the tie. However, it is something that I can use.

It was a really nice tie. One problem was that it was hard to keep the adjustment clip from sliding and altering the size. I had to add a small safety pin for it to stay in place.

I purchased the watch as a Christmas gift for my son. I thought the quality was good, the price excellent and the service response was good also. I will shop at the Historical Emporium again in the future.

It was a really nice watch that met my expectations for my use.

These period trousers worked perfectly for the theater costume I wanted to create. The advice of ordering one size bigger than your normal pant size was most helpful and assured that the fit was ideal. I normally wear a 36 waist (35 really) but to be cautious I ordered the Ferndale pants in a size 38. The higher-riding waistline fit me perfectly and once my wife hemmed them, and suspenders were attached, I was totally satisfied with the look and authenticity. The website stated that size 38 was "special order" and could take 10 to 14 days to arrive. Imagine my surprise when they came in 4 days. Great service and great product.

I only purchased this corset because it was on sale. I have several others, but what's one more, right? It fits well and is sturdy. My only complaint is the lack of a modesty panel, but I didn't buy it /expecting/ one. I'll probably be purchasing fabric to create a panel for it.

These boots are as advertised. We were a little worried about the sizing since this is a purchase over the internet. Be forwarned the sizes do run a little bit big. My son is a 10.5 shoe size and we ordered a 10 sized boot which fit fine and was a little big. Otherwise, we're very pleased with our purchase!
