I always enjoy browsing the Historic Emporium, for fun and for when I decide to visit some other time. This time, however, this is purely a contemporary journey. Everyone is stuck at home- I am stuck at home AND overweight. It it occurred to me if I had to go to a wedding or funeral I would have nothing to wear- or at least nothing that fits. Years ago I bought my last coat at a department store- it was a velvet coat and looked a bit of what Jon Pertwee wore as the 3rd Doctor. I still have it, and intend to wear it again someday when I uh, shrink myself. It is not a period costume and I wore it occasionally for occasions that required that I dress up a bit. Well, back to being stuck at home- with little to do during the year of COVID. I saw that the Emporium had a LOT of velvet coats- some of which would still be contemporary, so I bought one online. I received it, tried it on and it is everything I wanted. Being a product of a costume company, I am not sure if it is as rugged as a store bought jacket, but it seems be as sturdy as anything I have ever owned. This jacket will look good as any dress up occasions I may go to- if I ever get to go anywhere fun ever again- and as a bonus I could even attend a Doctor Who Convention and not look out of place. And if I ever get the Time Machine working- oh never mind. Very nice coat though. Very happy with it as it makes even me look good.

The blouse fit perfect to the measurements. It looked great for what I used it for.

I received the belt and matching holster as a gift. The belt was waist sized and not hip sized so it was a little small. I ordered the correct size and received the new belt in a timely manner. Very happy with the product, great quality.

Love the Color of this Vest. I get a lot of compliments. I have purchased 5 other Vests from H.E. this has to be my favorite.

I was somewhat cautious when buying this product as there appeared to be some critical feedback in earlier reviews, suggesting poor quality, "costume" clothing, no elastic tie to pants, etc.. The item I received was none of these! The quality is great, the navy / white colour is fine (my colleagues have the other colours for an upcoming event), there is an elastic tie in the pants. I did order a size up as I wanted a relaxed fit to suit the style of the period (and my shape!). It is an excellent outcome for myself.

I have purchased numerous vests from Historical Emporium in the past. This one is outstanding and exceeded my expectations. The blue plaid looks distinctive and I particularly appreciate the wool content on this vest. The pocket and button details add to the overall appearance. I'm very pleased indeed with this item.

I wore this belt/holster to a western party last weekend. I got much more attention than I thought I would. It really is nice. People keep asking me "whats in your holster". ;).

The fabric is stiffer than I expected, but less than the military version from the same manufacturer. I also own the red version of this model. The ensemble with my frock coat and my cane gives me a very gentlemanly look that I am looking for. I recommend it to you.

This coat is absolutely awesome, classy and gives a dark touch to my Gothic-Victorian look. It is very comfortable, made of a quality fabric and can be worn for any occasion a gentleman needs to show up. I highly recommend it. Only downside: The sizes sometimes require adjustments depending on your size. This was my case for the length of the sleeves.

Fits perfectly and is very comfortable and warm. NOT the usual felt wrapped cardboard you get when looking for a hat like this.

Most people say order a size down. I would go so far as to say order two sizes down. I wear a size twelve, normally. But the size 10 boot fits perfectly. Solid construction. Better than anything you'd find at JC Penny's. I would say that the calf circumference is a bit large. It still works. But it doesn't quite have that narrow look all the way up that is seen so often in the old pictures. I do think they are worth the price.

These are excellent quality. I'm not sure why I didn't expect this, but they needed to be hemmed, so just expect to take them to a tailor or hem them yourself.
