These versatile dress pants are similar to those worn by bankers and merchants during the late 1800's. The historic styling is complimented by the Polyester/Wool fabric which makes them comfortable year round. Part of our matched Highland collection.

Comes with all the standard Wahmaker amenities: button fly, 2 front, side opening pockets, 2 button closing back pockets, an adjustable waist and suspender buttons. 83% polyester, 17% wool, unlined and unhemmed with a 36 inch inseam. Straight boot-cut bottom. Dry clean only. Available in sizes 26 - 48 in black only.

Please note that these pants sit approximately 1 inch higher on the body than modern pants do. Therefore, most people need to order one size up from their customary size.

Sizing Notes

As you can see from the photos, these old fashioned trousers sit higher on the body than modern pants do.

For best fit, measure your torso (in inches) just below your belly button, and select this size of trousers.

In many cases, this will be one or more size above your customary pants size.
Inseam

Our trousers come with a 36 inch inseam. If you need them shorter, you will need to have them tailored locally to your desired fit.

Quality was good for polyester
I was hoping these would blend in a little better with the Victorian Formal Tailcoat that Historical Emporium sells but the 100% wool coat is really too nice to have a pair of polyester pants under them and the color was a little off. They are nice pants but not for historical use. Wished they sold a pair of 100% wool pants.

High Quality
The highland pants are of high quality. I now have highland pants, vest, and frock coat and I am very pleased with the ensemble. Be sure to order a larger waist size than usual. Also be careful when hemming the pants as you need to be sure to wear the pants correctly when measuring for the hem.

By themselves they look OK
Bought to replace my belted suit pants but when worn with nice cloths the polyester really stands out. Might look OK on stage. Would be fantastic in a 100%wool.

Great, but order larger
The quality of the Highland pants is excellent, but I found that the waist size runs 1-2 inches smaller than modern store bought pants, so I had to do an exchange, which went very smoothly. Great product for a good price.

Great fit!
I followed the instructions on the site and took an actual measurement of my waistline before ordering. My usual pants size is 36 to 38, depending upon the cut of the pants, so when I got a measurement of 44, I was hesitant to order that size. Fearing I was ordering too large, I went ahead anyway, since the Historical Emporium honors returns, and was glad I did. Sure enough, they fit perfectly. Had the local tailor hem the legs, without cuffs. Great match with the Highland Vest/Waistcoat that I ordered a few months earlier. The only quibble, a minor one, was the missing suspender buttons on the back waistband (although the front suspender buttons were there), but the tailor was able to add matching buttons easily. These dress pants are the most comfortable that I now own.

These fit as described. Nice details abound. I do wish Historical Emporium carried some 100% wool pants as more faithful reproductions of the fabrics used, rather than blends. Having said that, I am still pleased with these pants.

Fine quality: be sure to buy a size up from...
Good quality, matches the rest of the Highland set perfectly. Be sure to buy a size up from your normal waistline, as the pants sit at a higher waist position than do modern pants. You'll definitely want a set of braces to hold them up. Be sure to order in enough time to get them hemmed to your proper length. I found the seat to be just slightly tight, but not so much that the pants are uncomfortable. This may be a feature of the garment?

The fabric looks good, the cut of the trousers is very full and the sizing runs large. I'm having to alter the pair I bought even after ordering a size smaller. Overall, am pleased with the quality.

These are some good pants. However, do remember to read that they come un-hemmed and fit around your belly gentlemen. You will also need to get a proper pair of suspenders for these or else they won't fit as well.

Good quality pants
I generally wear size 37 or 38 pants but measuring my waist according to the instructions came up with size 43. This have proven too big. The pants themselves are sturdily constructed and when I get the right size will probably become my favoured work pants..
