Deluxe Felt Derby - Camel

Camel Derby

Item: 001479

Americans call it a derby, after the Earl of Derby who helped popularize it. But, Englishmen know it as a bowler as it was first introduced in the early-1850's in England and produced by the Bowler Brothers Company. It crossed the pond to America in the 1860's and remained popular well past the turn of the century.

Our best quality derby is made of wool felt, lined, and just perfect for the period look.

USA-made, with removable decorative feather. Features a 2 inch brim, and the crown is approximately 4.5 inches tall. Brim to brim measures approximately 9 inches in front, and 11 inches from the side view.

Available in several colors.

Oversized: This item is considered oversized for shipping purposes, and may incur a surcharge if expedited or shipped internationally.

Pleased in every way, 2nd purchase of the Deluxe
I love this particular bowler as to; fit (7 3/8 = L) spot on for my noggin, not too short or too tall for my taste. I only wishh it came with a tiny bit more bow, front to back, but that will come with time and use. Feel is nice both in the hand an on the head and I get hands-down more compliments on my Deluxes than any other hats that I own. Next will be the grey model for me but after that, I'm saving up for a black one from Cokes (Nothing personal, HE, it's a fan thing! Everything useful, I buy from you guys! Thanks!

Very nice felt derby
I really like my derby. I would like to wear a dress up hat for certain occasions. I don't think a baseball cap is dressy enough, and I don't want to wear a cowboy hat, or a '40's gangster fedora. The next logical conclusion is a derby. I wear it around, and nobody gives me strange looks like I'm 100 years out of style. I think the secret is the camel color. It makes it look stylish and is a neutral color, as opposed to an authentic 19th Century black. My teen-age son said: "I thought that hat would make you look weird, but it really doesn't."

Great quality, perfect fit! I was worried because my boyfriend has a giant head but the Xxl fit like a glove! Very beautiful hat. Oh, and very quick shipping.

A Short Oval
This hat is a little bit wider and shorter of an oval than most hats of its size. You may want to invest in a hat stretcher (good to prevent hat shrinkage if hats get wet as well) to adjust the shape if its fit is slightly off. Other than that it appears to be a good wool felt hat.

Camel Derby
Love it; wear it whenever appropriate; get admiring looks and compliments - then again, it takes a bit of chutzpah to wear a derby these days in Canada, as I get a few strange looks, too. But who cares. I also wear bow ties (because they are easier to tie as I'm lazy), so I'm used to that.
