Floyd Side-Button Shirt - Ivory

Wore this to a Halloween party and it was so comfortable I want to wear it every day. The fabric is breathable and flexible so it would be a great shirt to wear to a fancy picnic. If you want a more dapper look, plan to starch the shirt before the event to hide the wrinkles.

Workmanship is very good stitching-wise. although the buttons have a tendency to fall off in the washing mashine. The shirt is not pre-shrunk so I suggest choosing a relatively large fit. I dyed mine a stunning red, it turns heads!

High quality garment; very pleased. Runs a little large, but workable. Will be back for some of the other offerings.

I measured my neck at 17.5” and ordered the XL. I found the actual neck measurement when it arrived to be over 18.5”. I contacted historicalemporium and they actually measured a large for me and were very helpful in the exchange process. I recommend measuring the neck and shoulder width of a shirt you own and asking them to take the same measurements on the shirt you want to order.

I love the style of this shirt; the side-button flap has a little bit of a bib front feel without looking full-on Cavalry, and the material is a rough-hewn natural feel that can be casual or dressed up a bit with a vest.
Sizing was difficult for me because I have dress shirts in neck sizes from 17.5-18.5 and so I bought the XL. It was too big; because the cut in the body was larger the sleeves fell further down my shoulders. I bought the L and it fit perfectly. The sleeve length is the same for both sizes, so I ended up buying both to try them on side by side.

Excellent quality

Really good quality. Exactly what I wanted. It was on the large side for a size "L", so I have returned it for a size "M". So far the exchange process has been smooth. Just waiting to get the new one.

I have this shirt in ivory and black. I never fail to get multiple compliments when i wear one of them. Great feel and texture. Dress up or down. Looks great.

Well made shirt. Comfortable and looks good. Fits the period. Teamed with the walnut canvas duster and a derby, everything comes together and it's all comfortable. It needs boots and something other than jeans for the pants but I had those already.

It's good to have a costume that looks right and is comfortable enough to wear all day.

I am pleased. We bought this shirt and the walnut duster. The two of them go together very well. Both are comfortable enough to wear all day. The stitching is well done. No flaws, no shortcuts. The sizing is a bit big but I much prefer that to too small.

I love this shirt and everything about it but again where are they getting the sizing from? I wear a XXL in EVERYTHING! but when I got this it is closer to a XXXXL. I had to get the shirt taylored to fit me.

This is an excellent made shirt and the contrast with the buttons make it stand out nicely.

I like the style of the shirt and material very much. The color I thought was not well represented. I thought it was more white than an off white. That I why I gave it four stars. The customer service on other items has been great and exceptional. I will continue to buy from Historical Emporium.

Never having dealt with Historical Emporium, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of quality. So many companies that make similar clothing make them as costumes. No need for me to have worried, Top quality, excellent fit and just as good looking in person. I will be buying many more things from H.E.

The shirt looks authentic & my girlfriend thinks it's hot!

High quality - great material and fit! Well worth the money. !

This shirt withstood the polar vortex of 2014 with aplomb. The side button styling helped to hold out the wind and cold. It looks just as good in person as it does on the website. It is very comfortable. I have worn it in several informal settings and even at work in a clinic setting, receiving positive comments. I have not had reason to launder it so far and am not sure yet whether to take it to a dry cleaner's or to put it through the washing machine.

I was exhibiting in a Maker Faire this past Saturday with my new work. I'm creating pieces out of copper pipes and other metal things, wood bowls, and plasma disks. I made these with Steampunk in mind so this shirt was perfect for the occasion (friends and organizers told me it was a must for me to be dressed up). So with this and the fingerless gloves just ordered, I was decked out perfect.

I do have to mention about the "fitting" though. I almost ordered an XL because I have a full neck (size 17 1/2 is usually needed lest I asphyxiate), but a size L or M for the rest -depending on the cut. I decided to order the L instead (16 1/2 neck) so the chest/belly/sleeves would not be overly large. I figured to leave the next button unbuttoned.

The shirt fit perfectly with plenty of extra room at the neck! I was surprised. The sleeves may have been a little long (too me), but not so much as to be really noticeable. Anyway, the overall cut seems quite different than the standard measurements/sizing posted. Maybe this could be noted in some manner?

not too thick or thin this shirt is very comfortable. the collar does not sit as high as some shirts. The uneven weave gives the fabric a unique look ad feel. i would certainly recommend this to a friend
