I bought this for my dad & he loves it but wished the lens wasn't cracked. I called company and told them about damage and they sent out another one asap but that one was cracked as well. Since no one seems to look at the item before it ships I give them 2 stars. I'm sure had I called again requesting a replacement they would have done so but I work 75 hours per week and don't have time for the nonsense. So would I buy again from the company? Answer: no. Inspect the item before it ships isn't to much to ask for.

I bought this item for a friend for Christmas who loves to collect artsy items, especially steam-punk items. He loved it.

Very Solid! Works well! Am sure son will love it. Metal not plastic or resin. Nice
Pretty cool add on for your steampunk
I think this monocle is really neat but there are just a couple things to be aware of. There is no immediate way to hang it from your gear if you do not want it hidden in a pocket. You will have to wrap a wire or something around it to create a hold or loop to hang it from your belt. Also there is no auto closing mechanism. It is really easy to open and close, but you do have to close it manually.
Folks loved the fact that this was a real device. Great purchase.
Real brass & glass! I love it

A very nicely made piece for the price. Real brass and glass, slightly different than the item pictured; but the changes were minor. Being a machinist by trade, I am pleased with the quality.
The power is about 2X, a bit closer to 2.25X at distance. Perfect for theater use, or spying the hatch combination for the villain?s airship from close concealment. (This works best on thugish henchmen of low intellect.) The magnification could be improved if you can find the right lense and are handy with optics.
The finish is chemically antiqued, and takes engraving well if you know a talented artisan. It slips nicely into a waistcoat pocket. The only caveat is you have to close the leaves of the clamshell manually when folding it back up. A closing spring would have been a nice touch.
I purchased several items for my son's birthday. He loved all of it - he is easy to please. I was very impressed by the detail and quality of the products. Very, very pleased.

Awesome addition for costume
This has a nice weight to it and sounds nice opening up. The magnification doesn't really work too well, but for the price I was not expecting something to be fully functional. For use for a costume prop it is more than satisfactory. The "antique" finish looks good too.

An essential gentlemanly accoutrement
What's not to love about a well-wrought, Articulated Folding Brass Monocular?Besides being an intriguing brassy bit, the mechanism is simplicity in itself: the small level simply rotates the larger lens, which in turn pops open the clam-shell.While perhaps not the most powerful eyepiece you could carry, it is compact enough to ride in a coat pocket. The monocular won't help you descry the habitations of the Lunarian, but it will help you find your nemesis across a crowded theater or verify the soundness of the aft rigging on your dirigible from the gondola. When collapsed, it does look a bit like a pocket flask, which may be of concern to some of your more proper companions until they see it's proper function.I, for one, shall consider the Articulated Folding Brass Monocular an essential piece of personal equipage during future adventures.

90% novelty, 100% awesome
Very cool. Nice sturdy construction. The 2x magnification is enough for novelty purposes. Very nice piece.
