Our black Victorian Petticoat adds dark yet still dainty decorum to your 19th century fashions. Adding a stratum of sensibility under your skirting of choice, this indispensible undergarment is a wearable reflection of your virtuous standards. Designed in black, a go-to choice for heavier, darker outfits or to be worn during extended mourning obligations.

Fashioned from 100% cotton for airy accommodation and easy care, our petticoat features two rows of ruffles on the bottom tier that are accented with lovely crochet lace. Reaching approximately 40 inches from the natural waist to hem, this longer petticoat adds fullness and works beautifully with a variety of skirts from the era.

Made from 100% black cotton. Imported. Machine wash cold, line or tumble dry. Offered in ladies’ sizes S - 2X. Available in several colors. Matching Camisole and Bloomers are also available.

It makes such a delicious SWISH sound when you...
Initially, I ordered this in an XL for my 40" waist and I had to exchange it for a large. It is a nice weight of cotton. Not so light that I fear to wear and tear it, but not so heavy that the waist tie binds. Really simply perfect. I wore it around town this winter under another skirt (or three - I'm so not used to this thing called "winter"). The extra ruffled layer that goes from just under the knee to the ground really made a difference on the wind-up-the-skirt chill factor and yet, being cotton, was not uncomfortable when indoors where this marvel called "electric heat" was up and running. Also, it is a titch longer for a section at the rear of the skirt. For the first time in my life, I found a skirt wasn't shorter in back than in front when worn with my overly large keister (I could make Kim Kardashian jealous!). In fact, that extra 2" of length is just enough to make it hang level to the ground should you decide to wear it over a bustle. Liked it so much, I bought it in white, too. :)

Versitile & comfortable
This is a really useful skirt. It's light and full enough for an under-skirt. I've also "cheated" and worn it as an outer-skirt in hot weather/environments. If you put a belt over the waist you can't see the drawstring, and it passes nicely for a walking skirt. I'm very happy it's 100% cotton, so it's breathable in warm weather.

Can't beat the quality
I have purchased other "costume-type" clothing from other sellers online and you never know what you're going to get. Often it is cheap, flimsy, thin material, with bad sewing, crooked seams, skimpy cut, etc. Not so with this lovely petticoat. The fabric is thick and excellent-quality. The workmanship is excellent- I am a seamstress myself so I do recognise when things are very well-made. Given the amount of fabric used (very generous) and the quality of it (where do they get their cotton? Because I can't find anything this nice at the usual fabric stores), as well as the craftsmanship of the construction- I could not make this petticoat for what I paid for it here. The styling is excellent and versatile. I can wear this under a Renaissance skirt with a peasant blouse and bodice, or I could layer it under a Victorian gown for the Dicken's Faire. Or....I may just toss on a french sailor tee-shirt and wear it to the beach!

pretty enough to wear as a skirt
This petticoat is so pretty and so well made, I wear it as a skirt and I get lots of compliments. Because of the tie waist, it will fit whether I gain or lose. I will buy the white petticoat now that I know it's worth every penny!

perfect
These petticoats were purchased for students who are embarking on their opera careers and need a rehearsal skirt to add to their toolkits. These are pretty, well made, reasonable and will be appropriate for any rehearsal period.

Black Petticoat
Love the good quality cotton fabric and trimmings! I can never have too many long black skirts! Great for the winter with a short or long coat, or on hot summer nights with my black shroud top & silk camisole when I want to express my inner Goth ...

Really good cotton
I choose the wrong size, too big, but I'm clever with needlework and I'll fix it quickly. Nice enough to be used as a skirt.
