Velvet Trimmed Edwardian Morning Coat - Black

Item: 002611

Availability: Sold Out

Throughout the 19th century, a gentleman of rank and means would not dare step out in daylight hours without a well made dress coat. Our Velvet Trimmed Edwardian Morning Coat makes a dashing choice for a leisurely brunch followed by a carriage ride down to the fields to cheer on the polo match.

Fashioned from 100-percent cotton velvet, our mens coat provides cool comfort with a dressy day silhouette. Hitting mid-thigh, this longer-style coat gently cuts away in the front and features one back vent. Fully lined in rayon, the front offers two flap pockets and antiqued silver buttons up the front and sleeves. Dry clean only. Body 100% cotton, lining 100% rayon. Made in the USA. Available in sizes S - 2X.

PLEASE NOTE: Although extremely stylish, this garment is anachronistic and is NOT intended to button in the front. The coat is styled and cut to provide a trim fit with the front unbuttoned. (As pictured above)

A1 quality
This coat blew us away. It is heavy material-not a flimsy coat. It fit perfectly, and was long enough to hit the thighs, had a split in the back- my husband wore this while we were married on horseback. The buttons on it added such a great period look to it. It looked great with the red vest, wing tipped shirt and black puff tie. It was super comfortable too!!

Perfect coat
This coat is truly beautiful The blood lust ball coming up and i shall be wearing this coat to that event along with my spat boots also bought from here! It fits pretty good although mine is a little large but still sits on me quiet well I first tried it out for Christmas in July i got many remarks on it from members of the historical society saying how accurate it was. the buttons are beautifully crafted in the style of a penny which gives it a more interesting style to it & more unique appearance . a truly impressive item.

Every bit as comfortable as it is elegant
The title of the review is self-explanatory - an elegant and attractive winter coat that also provides comfort and durability. I wear this coat on a regular basis; it always turns heads and attracts compliments. And in terms of value for money, it cannot be faulted. Highly recommended!

outstanding garment
What can i say......this garment is superb in quality of materials, construction and style. It goes very very well with many of the garments on Historical Emporium, AND just as well with some modern stuff like Jeans too. In fact.... the first time i wore this coat out with blue jeans.........i had several compliments on the likeability of the Jacket. Its not too long..........a mid thigh length is perfect for it. I honestly cannot find one thing i dislike about it. If you want an old time look, in a modern time world.........this is the coat for you. This is THE BEST coat i have personally ever bought in my entire life, and i love the fact that i don't need a period event to an excuse to wear it. Full marks from me.

It's great when the real thing is twice as good as the fantastic picture. This is the case with this truly magnificent coat. Made well. Fits true to size. Amazing! A worthwhile splurge.

Amazing coat! Looks and feels even better in...
This has unquestionably replaced my previous coat for neo-Victorian/goth/steampunk outings. It is now a regular part of my attire with steampunk band Vernian Process. Bravo for adding this to your catalog!

I give this a "qualified" five stars. The quality is absolutely astonishing. It is a wonderful coat with a wonderful cut that really follows the lines of the body. The problem? It is meant to be an "Edwardian" coat, which is mostly correct, but the buttons Shrine has used are pence pieces from 1937!!! Am I picky? Yes. But if you want historical clothing, it can't have anachronistic buttons from the future. I bought appropriate 1-1/8 inch pewter buttons and had them attached. Wonderful coat.

the worlds most awesome coat
This has to be, hands down, the coolest jacket i have ever owned !! The quality of this coat is amazing; it's super heavy-weight, yet the fabric is soft and comfortable. i looked closely at this thing, up and down, and was continually impressed with the amount of craftsmanship that has gone into it! it's just a friggin' cool coat. be advised, however, that these coats seem to run a size small. i read a previous review on this morning coat that said the same thing and it's true. i'm a big guy and i generally wear an x-large in everything, but i took the precaution and ordered a double x-large. the jacket fits perfectly!! the cut of this coat is so retro and cool it actually makes me look better than i really do, if that makes sense. thanks again, guys !!

Envy inducer!
Got married recently ? very casual, unconventional affair after 18 or so years together. Bought this for the occasion and wore it with the Forty Niner Vest (we call them waistcoats ? more manly!). Be-dazzled everyone ? male guests in particular very envious! Thankfully it wasn't a frivolous purchase as I didn't read the small print until too late and got hit for local import duty and sales taxes when the goods were delivered thus making a reasonable price very expensive! I'll just have to become more socially active or start wearing it for barbecues, shopping trips etc. Despite all of this, it's a beautiful garment.

Love it
This is a totally killer coat. Forget period costumes. I've got to find more occasions where I can wear this. This should be every day wear for me. The coat material, workmanship, buttons, everything are of the highest quality. And no, Historical Emporium did not pay me to say that. I really am impressed. This is not a "costume" jacket. This is a high quality coat and worth every penny.

Very nice!
I don't think the pictures do it as much justice as it deserves. It is a very nice piece. The fabric 'cotton velvet' is a lot nicer than the name implied to me. It's very comfortable as well! Can't wait to be married in it!

Excellent quality and style. Love how it looks on my body type, which is thin and tall. However, be mindful when ordering your size. I am a medium in all the shirts that I ordered and they fit great, but with the Morning Coat I ordered a medium and it was simply to small across the shoulders and back making the sleeves a little to short as well. I exchanged it for a large and that size fit perfectly. Very happy with the outcome and the exchange process was super easy.
