Good vest, some fit issues
The fabric and construction are good quality. The buttonholes are a bit tight, but that is workable. The biggest issue, unfortunately, is that it is simply too long! I am 5'5" and this vest ends low on my hips, when it would ideally end closer to my natural waist. I will be getting it altered accordingly because it is a very handsome vest, all things considered, but it is a bit disappointing. Taller individuals probably won't have this problem.

I received this product sooner than I expected. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the vest. I expected it to be a "costume like" vest reproduction. It turned out to be a very fine piece of clothing that should last me the rest of my life. My only regret is the gold buttons,...I would have preferred silver. But that doesn't diminish my happiness. Fits great. I'm ready to place another order for the Buchanan Vest - Navy.

Useful for both Civil War reenactments and surviving the freezing Trump Tower Mondays.

I live in San Ho so I was able to go pick the article up. Unfortunately I had to return it, but the customer service was really good throughout the purchase, pick up and return process. I'll definitely buy something else after the wedding. I didn't get to wear the article in but the construction appeared to be solid and it looked great, and fit really well off the rack.

I wore the Fitzwilliam Wool vest into town yesterday, a cold blustery day. It was not only practical against the chill, it made me look and feel like a million bucks. The wool flannel fabric is so soft that it feels like cashmere! The tailoring is superb resulting in a great fit.

Great vest, not what I wanted. Beware the...
I also own the "Brigade Vest," which is very similar. I purchased the Fitzwilliam to have an alternative in another color (grey as opposed to black). If I did not already own the Brigade Vest, I might be very happy with the Fitzwilliam. But the Brigade vest is a higher quality garment, in a heavier twill. The Fitzwilliam is constructed of a soft, low-quality wool that feels vaguely fake. It's by no means bad, but not what I was looking for.
My greatest disappointment, however, was the color. The vest is darker than the product photography depicts. In fact, it is nearly black, which means there was no reason for me to own it as well as the Brigade Vest. In addition, it's difficult to tell from the photography, but the buttons on the Fitzwilliam are definitely gold - another point that may have prevented me from purchasing it.
The Fitzwilliam is a good, comfortable vest, and looks good when worn. But it is not what I was looking for.

This vest fits perfectly and goes with any type of clothing, vintage or modern.
I would recommend it for Wild West reenactors and Civil War reenactors.
