I wear derby hats all of the time. I've been looking for a quality straw derby for a long time, as it gets very hot in Alabama. This hat looks like a proper derby. There is one small thing wrong with the hat, it doesn't have a proper hat band. It should have a band with a bow, like the original hats. Other then that, a quality proper hat.

I created a felt Derby out of an old Indiana Jones fedora and liked it so much, I decided I wanted a straw one for summer. Love it, and was pleased to discover it was a Sunbody hat.

The perfect derby to fight Global Warming
I had an outdoor steampunk event to attend right at the hottest days of the year (so far) here in Seattle. It was reaching the three digit mark when we are used to the high 70s being hot.
I didn't want to wear my regular bowler as it would roast my brain. This straw derby worked perfectly with my summer outfit.

Very well made, size ran large used a hat sizer fits perfect.
Great sweat band , was 97 degrees today, wore golfing walked 18 holes, kept sweat off face.

I have a felt "bowler" that I purchased years ago elsewhere. My wife likes a taller crown, and I was in the market for a straw derby, since my receeding hairline is rapidly approaching the bald spot in the back. After looking at many sites that carry hats, I finally googled "straw bowler/derby" and your site came right up. The hat I bought came up as soon as your site opened. I was surprised that you carry it in my size which is "medicine ball" and it fits perfectly. In fact, I am not only more than happy, I am just tickled with my little self for making this purchase.

I was excited to find this straw bowler online and dumbfounded that you’re located in the Bay Area south of me!! Initially I was just looking for the standard wool bowler but was disappointed that my next opportunity to wear wool anything was next Fall. So I started looking for something out of straw — I figured there must be a seller out there. Well lo and behold! This hat is very unique and good looking.
Now my only issue is that I might stand out too much! ;))

there are many different types of straw used in hats. I believe that the strongest, and also very attractive is the straw used in Guatamala! I have had one for over 25 years and the straw derby is even better made. Some day I may buy the straw top hat, also the tough Guatamalin palm straw!

This derby is a great fit and very cool in the hot Florida summer. I wear it for a 19th Century visitor program at the Castillo de San Marcos and it is much more comfortable in 90 degree whether than my other Emporium derby that I use in cooler weather.

The black band slid up towards crown of hat. Have to use adhesive to hold in place or remove completely. Otherwise, happy with purchase.
Great hat, seems to be well constructed. It is sized a little small in reference to the sizing chart.
