Buckingham Vest - Black/Black

sizes run one or two sizes smaller

Bought for our upcoming cruise. Will fit perfectly into the setting of a nice dinner on board ship. I will pair it with a band collar shirt I had previously purchased from this site. Every product I have purchased has been of good quality and wears really well so glad I found this site.

A gift

I have been building my mid-1800s wardrobe recently and this was a fantastic addition. I wore it recently to my work's holiday party (Excelsior dress shirt, plus a cravat that I made, and top hat and cane purchased at the San Francisco Dickens Faire). It was the perfect bit of finery for the festive occasion - especially after taking off my coat since it was pretty warm inside.

Unfortunately, this atypical vest was not accurate in its sizing, running small. It is beautiful to look at on a hanger, but you have to be very trim in order to button all the buttons which means your belly must be smaller than your chest because the lower part of the vest is extremely narrow and there is not any adjustment. I was unable to wear it because my belly is larger than my chest. I recommend at least one size up from your normal vest size.

Great quality on this vest. The Gramercy velvet vests are lacking in material assurance. Had to throw them out due to chunks of velvet coming off. I will probably order another Buckingham vest.

A well made garment (a perfect fit) and ideal for formal and semi-formal occasions without being stuffy. Very happy with this purchase.

Beautiful vest which I plan on wearing with my Sheriffmuir jacket and kilt. I plan on wearing including the frilly shirt with the lace jabot and cuffs. The only thing negative is that some of the cloth covering the buttons is coming loose. Not sure what to do about that.

Normally, the sizing on HE's clothing runs large, but I had a hunch to go up one size, and I'm glad I did. Even one size up, it was still a little snug, but it's a wonderful vest with the same high quality I've come to expect from HE. Very nice!

Well made, esp for the price. But the size is way off. Bought and normally wear 3X. Product was at best a large. Unuseable for me.

Have been looking for a well-tailored, high-buttoned vest for a long time. The Buckingham is very well constructed, fully lined mandarin collar vest. Its pockets are deep, and the fabric covered buttons are well made. It feels substantial, like a lightweight suit jacket without arms. When fully buttoned it is not constrictive, and looks fantastic.

The vest was perfect for my event and I see wearing it to other social events as well. I had to get it tailored as it was too large but that was only because there was no time to return it for a medium. Still, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This is a good quality, well constructed vest. I am disappointed, however, that even though I ordered a Small, I'm still swimming in it (I wear a size 37 jacket). That's just the fault of the supplier that they don't offer an Extra Small. I'll just have to take it to a tailor or add a belt in the back. This is actually just the same vest offered by a few clergy suppliers--it is a clergy vest--but offered at a lower price.

The vest has a real quality look and fit. It was worth the cost and I am very happy with the purchase.

I bought this vest for a Steampunk Ball and, with the addition of a few cog on the chest and collar, it was perfect! It has since become a regular part of my Good Suit. It's worth noting that each item of clothing I've purchased from Historical Emporium has been slightly larger than I expected. This is probably due to sizing differences from the States to Australia, but It is something customers should be aware of. I can highly recommend this vest.

I absolutely LOVE this vest. The red/black Buckingham vest is completely stunning. It came to my home in about 2-3 business days from the time I bought this vest. The vest is absolute splendor and beauty. It also fits me very well.
I do have some words of advice to those who want this vest. First: you're going to want to reenforce the buttons as they are a little loosely attached. Second: be very honest about your measurments. This vest is cut smaller than other vests made by HE. Other than that you will be the talk of the town in the Buckingham vest. If you love victorian style vests; get this now.

It would have been nice if you had vests in smaller sizes than Small. This vest we had to sew in. But still a very nice vest and a good fabrick.
