1860s style suspenders - perfect for Civil War era and later impressions. These suspenders or galluses, as they were often called, are perfect for the serious reenactor or history buff.
Made from 1 3/8-inch wide cotton webbing featuring a sewn X-back, replica metal size adjusters, and finished with long front leather button tabs. The 51" length will fit most people.
These are reproduction suspenders and will look different than modern suspenders.
The front metal adjusters are metal prongs that pierce the fabric instead of the common buckle or friction sliders. This means there will be some damage to the material of the suspender strap each time they are used. In addition, due to the type of adjuster the front canvas straps are made long to fit most people. In some cases, they will be longer than needed. In the 19th century, the excess length was commonly tied or tucked behind the straps.
Made from cotton webbing and vegetable tanned leather. Made in the USA.
Our 1860s Cotton X-Back Suspenders are offered in several colors.
