Upon the death of a loved one, Victorian women were expected to enter deep mourning. For women of modest means, this often meant dyeing their everyday wear black. Our rendition of a black mourning suit features gray lace, for the appearance of an overdye.
This femininity of this Victorian-inspired ensemble is readily apparent from the full bell sleeves and yards of delicate gray lace to the ruched jacket back that creates a beautiful bustled effect. The jacket buttons up with lots of dainty buttons, a dozen to be exact. The skirt features a comfortable elastic waist and falls 40-inches to the hem. Can be worn with our Edwardian hoop underskirt or Petticoat.
Fashioned from 100% cotton, exclusive of lace. Imported. Machine wash in cold on gentle and line dry; or dry clean. Available in sizes S - 3X. Offered in several colors.
