Vintage Style Homburgs
A homburg is a semi-formal hat of stiff felt, known for its single dent running down the center of the crown called a "gutter crown", a hat band, and a stiff brim shaped in a "kettle curl".
Though intended as a semi-formal hat, the homburg was not able to replace the top hat for formal occasions, and was only appropriate for semi-formal attire or informal attire. The style was popularized in the 1890s and originated in a German town, Bad Homburg, which lent the hat its name.
