Perfect for formal wear and using it for a cemetery tour I was involved with. Just don’t do like I did measure you neck size and go with it. I ordered my usual dress shirt size and it was way too big.

Although I have not worn it yet, I did try it on. It fits well, the sizing guide was correct. The only disappointment was the buttons. I had to change them out to white bone buttons, which I will again change out to white glass buttons when I have more time. When trying to recreate a period look, clear plastic buttons is not the way to go. Otherwise no complaints. It shipped faster than I thought it wood and seemed to have it overnight.

Good quality shirt and ample arm length for the taller man

Wish the sleeves were 1-2 inches shorter. Will use garters or rubber bands to address issue. Sleeves to long for size based on neck fit.

This is a quality product! When the product arrives, the material feels thin; but after one run through the laundry the material fills out and you can appreciate the quality of the cotton and the stitching. MAKE SURE that you measure yourself using the instructions provided at Historical Emporium's web site for best fit. If you find yourself at the larger end of the sizing, go a size up as a loose fit will look more authentic and will be more comfortable. You will have to iron this shirt, it is 100% cotton. I have found it best to tumble dry for a few minutes to remove excess water, then hang dry for best wear. Hope this helps.

We ordered per the size chart and the size L was actually larger than the chart says (in the neck measurement). So, we had to send it back and order a medium. Medium fits perfectly. Looks great with his Victorian tux and tails costume for historical dancing. Thank you!

I love wing collars and the addition of the cuff-link and stud option to a 100% cotton Victorian dress shirt was a very welcome and wise change to this product. Not that it's a bad thing, but the cotton of this shirt is lighter than some of HE's other shirts, similar to the club collar shirt. It's still good quality and it's nice to have a lighter weight for hotter days or more layers. Just a good thing to know. The steel top button is cool.

After years of using modern tuxedo shirts, my Dickens caroling group decided to go with more authentic shirts to fit the Victorian period theme. This was exactly what we hoped for.

While I have not wore the shirt yet, I am debating between this shirt or the White Pleated Dress Shirt to wear at an upcoming wedding.

I bought this shirt as part of my 1880's costume. It looks great and fits almost like tailor-made. The only thing "bad" I could say about it is that the fabric seems a little on the thin side, but this is really a very minor point.

Superb quality and exactly what I was looking for. Due to my short size I needed a large neck and chest size and this works perfectly. The sleve length was quite long however. I wish that there had been a sleeve length in same size 8 inches shorter. But, I have a Tailor that can take care of that. So, I couldn't be happier with this shirt. I may just get a couple more.

As of this review, I have had the opportunity to wear my nightshirt for over a month. It has held up wonderfully and done just fine in the wash. It is the ideal length for me (I'm 6'1") and is very comfortable. I highly recommend it!

Bought this shirt for a child's pioneer themed birthday party. I was very satisfied with the quality of the shirt. The fabric and metal buttons give it an authentic feel. Shirt is to size so buy it in whatever shirt size you wear.

The tag on this pull-over shirt calls it a Shiloh. sounds so historical! Heavier-than-usual cotton weave feels comfortable with a tee-shirt or tank top under it. This shirt can take a beating in any reenacting situation. Classic 19th century design fits right in with CAS situations. Add a western tie and vest for those times when a cowboy wants to spruce up a might. I wear a lamb skin leather waistcoat with it. Not so much historical 19th century western as common in the old western TV shows from the 50's & 60's. This shirt can also be seen in those old western shows and movies. It's a tough, yet good looking design that belongs in your cowboy wardrobe.

Authentic looking period shirt!!

I bought this shirt in natural and tan stripe, and the look of both is superb. I actually preferred this striped one in appearance. However, the fabric was different from the natural. I found it too course, as i have sensitive skin. So, I sent in back, no big deal. But I think a washing and a wearer who prefers a tougher fabric will love this. The natural, on the other hand... that was a keeper.

I really like the shirt. My only complaint is that it is not permanent press. It is otherwise very attractive and well made.

I bought this intending to use it as part of my intrepid explorer steampunk costume, but it's so comfortable and such a great fit I've worn it to work several times. Moral: don't limit your thinking. I suspect many Emporium products can be worn on 'non-costume' occasions.

Ordered this shirt. Wore it to a function with a vest and bow tie. I seriously can't see why I would ever wear another shirt. It is comfortable, stylish, and of a quality I seriously never expected. After I wore it I actually sat down and inspected it.....every stich, button and seam. I just couldn't believe I finally found THE shirt, but alas, it was true. I found it. FANTASTIC quality. I will be ordering many more and donating most of what I own (shirtwise). If you are even THINKING of ordering, trust me...just do it. You will thank me later. This is a casual shirt with a simplistic, frontier style that I like a lot. The color was lighter than I expected - but this is good because I find I can wear it with all of the vests and dungarees of different colors that I have. The fit of this shirt is loose and comfy. The back stitching has a great, subtle, frontier look. Perhaps this shirt can be made in the color black? I think the style of this shirt plus the color black would give it a very dramatic look.

Shirt seems to be well constructed and fabric is quite lightweight, great for summer. It is too big however. Ordered a Large for my neck size, which is a 16, and I can fit my hand into the collar. I sadly threw away the tags and packaging before I could really try it on with the vest I bought previously, so unreturnable. It's a good shirt, nice metal buttons, but if you buy one, size down!

I use this as an undergarment for an 18th century character in an educational program. I ordered the smallest size available but it is still a bit large for me. It will do since it is mostly covered up. I mainly wanted it for the ruffles.

I bought this shirt to wear as part of a pirate costume for a costume ball. It fits nicely and I like the material. The neck is a little tight, but they said it would be. My wife made some minor alterations there, which helps a lot.

I've been looking for a shirt/jabot like this for a long time, and this one is just right! Material feels great, just the right amount of flair, and a great fit.

Great shirt that works well with slightly earlier period clothing. Lace cuffs are great peeking out from an 18th century style coat. Jabot took a little figuring out but once attachment system was understood, no problems.

This shirt is very well stitched and constructed. The sleeves have ample extra fabric for both the width and length, as would be appropriate for this style, and the lace is a decent length as well so that it would extend beyond the cuffs of a frock coat style. Although not made of natural fibers, the rayon fabric is soft and not too heavy and is comfortable to wear. This shirt could also pass for a late 17th early 18th-century formal shirt, with a different jabot. Highly recommended.

Bought this to pair with Historical Emporium's red and black Cavalier vest and it works perfectly. Love the shirt. Only minor critical comment is that I would have preferred a little less lace on the cuffs. However, that's just my personal opinion, and I would still give the shirt five stars. Well made and drapes well on the body. It does the job.

I was happy with the product. I ordered the s/m size and I am 5'9" and 175 lbs and thought it fit well. Wish it was cotton though.

Living history day at a fort demonstrating log hewing. I was able to move comfortably. Although not strictly accurate for the early period, it was great fabric and design, well executed construction.

I am buying one or two items a month in order to purchase a complete Pirate costume. Buying "piece-meal" affords me to purchase those quality and expensive articles that makes the overall costume a quality one. I am serious. It feels so good ( wash before wear ) that you just want to wear one every day. They are cool in another way. The stains that accumulate from a few small drops of stout may stick but the effect is an increase in the character or the shirt. I liked the first one so much that I bought two more. In this shirt, you can look diesel as hell or fop about on the town. Add a waistcoat though...for decorum's sake.

I brought the shirt for an event and it needed to dye the shirt yellow, so I dyed the shirt the color I needed. The fabric took well to the dying process and looks and fits fantastic.

I really like this style, its really comfortable. But be sure to order a size larger than what you normally wear, I wear a size 17 neck and when I received my order and tried it on, it felt a little tight in the chest area, I think it had something to do with the way the shirt is sewn at the bottom of the opening, it kind of bunches up a bit. I sent it back and got a size 18-18.5 and now it fits a lot better.

I have wanted a shirt like this for several years after seeing antique ones in flea markets in France. The shirt is very well made of soft, drapey cotton. Great with leggings! I've gotten many positive comments. Very comfortable.

I liked the Laborers Shirt much better than this one. This was of a thinner material and I liked a collar much better than the mandarin look. Quality seemed ok but again in my opinion not as nice or authentic as the Laborer Shirt. If you like this style of pure white color and a thinner material than you could do worse I'd think. Just ok.
