This isn’t a costume shirt, it’s a dress shirt designed to the style of a former era, so I expected a lot and it is nearly perfect. Purchased for a Regency/Bridgerton costume to wear with vest and stock. My husband has sensory issues (autism, ADHD) so nothing but a cotton or linen shirt works. This was the only 100% cotton one I found. Seams and buttonholes are dress shirt quality, as expected. No loose threads. Collar has a loop on the back to secure a tie. Collar is double thickness and opaque, stands up on its own but will need ironing and starching. Body of the shirt is slightly translucent - without a vest, an undershirt will be necessary, but it will be cool in summer. Cut is era-appropriately boxy to loose. Lots of ease across the back with pleating. My husband is a chest size 44, but shoulders are 46 so we ordered XL. Turns out he could have sized down to L, as the shoulders are 1/2” past his natural shoulder, but as Regent shoulders were drop shoulders anyway, we’re keeping it. My husband is 6’, but with a 31” inseam so his torso fits like a 6’2” person. The length is perfect, and even at 6’4” you likely could get away with it, though it may be a little harder to keep tucked in is you’re doing more than walking and sitting. We’re very pleased with the shirt and I suspect he’ll look for other occasions and ways to wear it, because it’s so comfy. Photos are hung up wet to drip dry. Relatively wrinkle free, but needs ironing and collar...

Our grand daughter has chosen the theme of late Victorian for her wedding. Her colors are red and Gold. The first coat, shirt and pants that I ordered were too big and I needed to return them for the next smaller size. The exchange was accomplished within 5 days. A company rep. was very helpful when I called about the problem. The replacement garments are a good fit although I will need a small alteration to the vest because my middle is larger than my chest. Quality & workmanship of clothing is excellent and I expect that they will last for many years.... and Never go out of style. Thank you! I plan to order additional items in future.

I interpret as an undertaker in Ohio in 1898. We provide a variety of events including working/living in a 19th century village. I fully recommend this shirt as it looks very good/authentic and it's comfortable.

Not that it's a bad thing, but the cotton of this shirt is lighter than some of HE's other shirts, similar to the club collar shirt. It's still good quality and it's nice to have a lighter weight for hotter days or more layers. Just a good thing to know. The steel top button is cool.

Great shirt but more important to me was your customer service. I buy with you because there is not a problem with a return and there is a prompt refund or exchange. You always answer quickly to my questions. Your shipping is very fast! I just wish you had clothes from the 1600's. I am an actor and am looking for costumes from that era.

I have been looking to upgrade some of my Steampunk gear. I've done it piece-by-piece and one of the last ones were black shirts. Now that I have these, I think what I have for this character is pretty good. I still need to accessorize more, but this means my basic gear and garments are set.

I'm sensitive to fabric textures, and this shirt (stolen from husband and altered) is my go-to. It's a lovely high quality, has stood up to 6 years of washes so far with very little fading and no pilling at all.

I have three of these in White and decided to get one in Black! No Disappointment! Add a Puff Tie or Ascot (I have several) in a bright color. Never disappointed with the Emporium Stores!

This shirt is great, versatile and comfortable. There is but one very minor issue with this shirt, from my standpoint anyway, cannot wear cufflinks with this shirt. It fits well and looks good in all respects. I would easily recommend this shirt to others.

I purchased the Victorian Men's Dress Shirt with the High Stand Collar in black for my steampunk Halloween costume. I paired it with the Crimson Commander's Vest for a factory forman/ engineer look. Following the sizing guide I was a bit nervous of the fit, being a Plus-sized gentleman. I was quite surprised to find the product properly enveloped me. For once I have an awesome costume that isn't being unduely stretched by my figure. Will Buy Again.

Perfect compliment for a Puffer Tie.

After years of using modern tuxedo shirts, my Dickens caroling group decided to go with more authentic shirts to fit the Victorian period theme. This was exactly what we hoped for.

While I have not wore the shirt yet, I am debating between this shirt or the White Pleated Dress Shirt to wear at an upcoming wedding.

I bought this shirt as part of my 1880's costume. It looks great and fits almost like tailor-made. The only thing "bad" I could say about it is that the fabric seems a little on the thin side, but this is really a very minor point.

Superb quality and exactly what I was looking for. Due to my short size I needed a large neck and chest size and this works perfectly. The sleve length was quite long however. I wish that there had been a sleeve length in same size 8 inches shorter. But, I have a Tailor that can take care of that. So, I couldn't be happier with this shirt. I may just get a couple more.

I give mixed reviews on the Viceroy shirt. I paid $94 to have it delivered. It is a comfortable cotton shirt but that's where the complements end. The sleeves were 38" long - I needed 32". You would think for that price they would have better options for an XL shirt.

This shirt works perfectly with my Victorian costume for Community Theatre.

The size of historically cut shirts can be tricky, as the HE site does say, but it means that I have to get the sleeves shortened to fit me before I wear this. The cloth is lovely quality, and it looks great with the black stock.

I love the material and style of the shirt. Packaging was great and felt adequate (perhaps better) to protect the item from anything that fate would throw at it. I especially love the fluted chest fabric, as it looks very dashing.

Definitely get the shirt heavily starched or make your own from rice flour. The collar should always be very stiff.

Very nice looking and comfortable shirt that is well made in a good quality cotton. Size is a bit bigger than expected, but after a cold wash and a tumble dry it shrunk to a perfect fit.

I am into Steampunk, and this is the conclusion of attire I needed in its creation. I had several other shirts that just couldn't fit the bill for various different reasons. When I put the shirt on with my other clothes and then finally the face mask I created, the shirt gave an added debonair look that made me say only one thing. "EXCELSIOR!!"

I needed a shirt like this with a nice crisp high collar to cement my outfit for a Victorian era party. Its a pullover, with a quarter button up. Don't worry about fumbling around with the button holes because they are perfect. Throw a cravat around you're neck and you'll look like you stepped straight out of the late 1800's. The cuffs are also pretty rigid. The sleeves run a little long but you can throw some sleeve garters on to really take things up a notch.

Bought this shirt for a child's pioneer themed birthday party. I was very satisfied with the quality of the shirt. The fabric and metal buttons give it an authentic feel. Shirt is to size so buy it in whatever shirt size you wear.

The tag on this pull-over shirt calls it a Shiloh. sounds so historical! Heavier-than-usual cotton weave feels comfortable with a tee-shirt or tank top under it. This shirt can take a beating in any reenacting situation. Classic 19th century design fits right in with CAS situations. Add a western tie and vest for those times when a cowboy wants to spruce up a might. I wear a lamb skin leather waistcoat with it. Not so much historical 19th century western as common in the old western TV shows from the 50's & 60's. This shirt can also be seen in those old western shows and movies. It's a tough, yet good looking design that belongs in your cowboy wardrobe.

Authentic looking period shirt!!

I bought this shirt in natural and tan stripe, and the look of both is superb. I actually preferred this striped one in appearance. However, the fabric was different from the natural. I found it too course, as i have sensitive skin. So, I sent in back, no big deal. But I think a washing and a wearer who prefers a tougher fabric will love this. The natural, on the other hand... that was a keeper.

I really like the shirt. My only complaint is that it is not permanent press. It is otherwise very attractive and well made.

I bought this intending to use it as part of my intrepid explorer steampunk costume, but it's so comfortable and such a great fit I've worn it to work several times. Moral: don't limit your thinking. I suspect many Emporium products can be worn on 'non-costume' occasions.

Ordered this shirt. Wore it to a function with a vest and bow tie. I seriously can't see why I would ever wear another shirt. It is comfortable, stylish, and of a quality I seriously never expected. After I wore it I actually sat down and inspected it.....every stich, button and seam. I just couldn't believe I finally found THE shirt, but alas, it was true. I found it. FANTASTIC quality. I will be ordering many more and donating most of what I own (shirtwise). If you are even THINKING of ordering, trust me...just do it. You will thank me later. 5' 9" and 170 lbs here. Large fits great. A touch longer in the sleeves than a normal modern shirt, but the onlooker wouldn't notice. Makes it look correct for reenactments too.

I was a little disappointed in the blue Liam shirt because I also have the navy blue color which I like but the stile of the lighter blue is different doesn't seem to be the same fabric and the front down the buttons where there is a little trim piece needs another button it gaps when you sit down

Having purchased a few flannel shirts now, this one is of a much different material. It is thinner and I am hoping it will make a nice shirt for when it is warm out. Not having a conventional collar, I have found it looks very dressy while buttoned all the way up, relieving me of having to wear a tie in dress-clothes situations.

The Bellamy shirt can be worn with the front ruffle for a pirate look or without for a more gentleman look. It fits perfectly. The quality is wonderful, the customer service was 10 out of 10. I would highly recommend any products from Historical Emporium.

This blouse runs extremely big. I had previously ordered a bella blouse in large. It fit a little too snugly so I ordered the bellamy blouse in extra large. It was way too big, I looked like I was wearing a parachute. It is currently at my local seamstress's to see if she can figure out how to make it fit me.

The shirts came right away and the overall quality is very good. My only issue is with the pockets on the right chest. Your picture does not show pockets and a pocket does not belong on an 18th Century shirt. I would try to remove the pockets, but I feel sure the needle holes would show. I am a demonstrating 18th Century blacksmith, and I really like my shirts to look correct as to period.

Now this is a great quality shirt with a lot of unique qualities! The fabric is very thick and heavy. A thick off white/beige linen look. Looks great tucked in or left out. If you leave the shirt out, it is a bit long but I'm sure a tailor at any dry cleaners can take the hem up a couple of inches if desired. Really great look if you like this style. Shirt looks like it can last a lifetime and goes will with jeans and boots. Good purchase, well worth the price!

For the purposes of daily wear, this is one of the best shirts to buy from the emporium. It works well with any work vest, and I have only received compliments whenever I've work it. The shirt is comfortable and easy to wash. This definitely belongs in a worker's wardrobe. I bought two!

I just returned from Tombstones "Helldorado Days" where I wanted to get my photo taken with the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday. I had wonderful black Frontier Classics trousers, red apache scarf, grey tweed vest and white banded collar shirt. I ended up hating the shirt. It made me feel like I was choking. I bought the Sinclair Edwardian shirts in all the colors available and LOVE them. With the proper ties I can leave the collar unbuttoned, breathe and still look good.
