The second appearance of Sherlock Holmes was in a slim volume entitled "The Sign of Four". This adventure began with a pretty, blonde governess receiving a pearl from the the Agra treasure. In the end, Scotland Yard gets credit for solving the casse and Watson wins the hand of the fair maid. I would like to think she would present Watson and Holmes with pearl stick pins like the above item to mark her wedding day.
