I had to appear in a morning coat suit for a formal academic event with European protocol (the men wore either their academic regalia or a morning coat suit). It turns out that the coat is not easy to come by in the US, but I was fortunate to run across the Historical Emporium's website. They had the right coat in my size in stock and shipped right away. It's a nicely made coat in exactly the right style, although the materials are modern, light weight and comfortable. I'd certainly buy from them again should the occasion arise.

I love the cut. It flatters my body and is overall great quality.

Received the coat and tried it on immediately and noticed how light it was, which was a very big plus for the temperatures that we find on the middle Gulf Coast of Texas. The sleeves were about 6 inches too long, but that was good since the wife can sew (I can too, but only when I have to) and she could fit it to my arm length. Very happy with the coat so far and see no issues at this time!

We were using this jacket as a costume piece for a show. It arrived in record time which was great. We also needed an extra large size which wasn't easy to find anywhere else. The sleeves needed hemming but that 's ok better than too short. The coat was well made and can be kept for future endeavors. It looked amazing and really added to the character.

Having been a Civil War reenactor for almost thirty years, in various time periods, I like the look of a frock coat. And wonder why they were ever shortened to the sack suit. The Emporium is my go-to shop for period clothing. I only wish I could afford more!

The Emerson Frock Coat is very well put-together. It's a little heavier than I was expecting. Not too much so but, with a cardigan, would make for a quite reasonable Fall weight overcoat. The inner pocket is a bit higher than one might expect, but not at all difficult to access. Just an adjustment going from my Coburn to this (plus left/right transition). Very happy with the build quality, fit, and finish.

I've always loved the look of a coat like this, and I wasn't disappointed when I received mine. As I'm very short it hangs lower on me, but I think that makes it look even better!

I love this coat! It is perfect for California winters and might run a tad bit large, but can easily be adjusted. It took a bit longer to receive than I thought, but it was worth the wait.

This was purchased as a gift, and the recipient was very pleased. Size small fits a young, thin frame well. The shoulders lined up perfectly, but the waist runs rather large for a small coat. This is a very simple fix, though; the buttons on the back-gathering straps can easily be sewn in another place according to one's waist, or the straps can just be tied together for a different look. The quality is superb, especially considering the low price. Highly recommended.

Duster looks great. Fits me perfect. I wear a size 42 regular, and the medium was the right size. It also gives enough freedom for my Cowboy Action Shooting matches. I'm 5'11" and hangs right at pant cuff level.

It is well made, but it's a little towards costume-like rather than Saville Row, but it will be cozy and festive on Christmas morning. The velvet is soft and the color is rich. If you want the couture quality craftsmanship for a smoking robe, you can spend $300 more.

The coat was exactly as described and pictured but I ordered the wrong size (I ordered a Large and should have gotten a Medium). I ordered a 2XL, which is slightly too large for me (XL is almost too small, and 2XL is too big). The jacket is very nice and very attractive, but it is very large through the shoulders. I may have to have the jacket altered for better fit (but I accepted that eventuality when I ordered the 2XL). The items I ordered arrived quickly and in good condition. I look forward to future purchases from Historical Emporium. I love the styles -- apparently, I was born at least 100-years too late.

Robes like this can cost $400 -$500. This looks nice at more than half the price! The maximum chest size of this item to have it look like the picture corresponds to standard suit jacket measurements.
