Not all Poofy Shirts are made equal. Bought this Pirate Shirt in a 2X for my boyfriend. He's 6'5" and, well, just bigger, and this shirt fit him like a yoho-ing piratey dream. The cotton fabric is a very nice quality, heavy with a little bit of knit feel to it, and the lace up closure at the chest, is just perfect to show off manly manly chest hair. Very well made. Sturdy material. Collar is as advertised, tall. Fit comes just underneath the jawline. Cuffs are magnificent as they are a true fold over French cuff in every sense. Cufflink holes line up on the mark.
These are not conversion cuffs as there are no buttons, so keep that in mind when ordering. Sleeves are a bit long for me. Bought a size large. I'm a 16-161/2 neck with a 34/35 sleeve. Easy remedy is to buy a pair of sleeve garters. Problem solved.
As with all the shirts I've purchased here, very satisfied. Will wrinkle when laundered so be ready for some starch and ironing.

I love the feel and fit of this shirt. I've never had a shirt like this before and so was very pleasantly surprised to find I could remove the "flounce" and have a simpler, less formal, but still elegant look. Like getting two shirts for the price of one. (My daughter who is an aficionado of Victorian and Regency fashion loved it.) I was a little concerned because the shipping had left the collar badly wrinkled, but my daughter told me to just hang it in the bathroom while I took a steamy shower and voila - good as new! Our grand daughter has chosen the theme of late Victorian for her wedding. Her colors are red and Gold. A company rep. was very helpful when I called about the problem. The replacement garments are a good fit although I will need a small alteration to the vest because my middle is larger than my chest. I actually purchased this shirt as a piece for a Prince costume as it very closely resembled the shirt he wore in Purple Rain..... there are some minute differences but it was not originally designed for that purpose so that's ok. Loved the look of this shirt from the preview. Was pleasantly surprised to find out light and comfortable it was. The lace around the cuffs doesn't encumber hands too badly and the shirt's great to move in. My one "complaint," if you can call your own befuddlement a complaint, is that when I took the jabot off, it took me forever to figure out how to put it back on! (Got the hang of it eventually. And the shirt looks better with the jabot then without, so it won't be coming off again any time soon).

Generally a Good Shirt
The collar size is a bit on the small size when compared to the chest size. I have a smaller neck, so not a problem to button, but it could be for others. The sleeves are also a bit on the short size. They could make the sleeves longer and even if a person had shorter arms, it wouldn't hurt since the type of shirt and the ruffles would allow for it to still look good. I have longer (38 inch) arms a 44 inch chest. The end of the ruffles just reach the bones on my wrist.

I just love this shirt! I was a little Leary at first because they said the neck may not button for everyone, I'm a big guy and honestly it probably won't button for a lot of guys but it managed to fit me and I'm really happy with that. When they say don't order by the size of your collar, they mean it. The shirt is comfortable and roomy... The cuffs are sassy and overall it makes ya feel like a classy bastard! And the ladies tend to enjoy the look as well... ;)

A perfect Shirt
I'm a big guy 56" waist and 50" chest, size xxxl fit perfect!!! I do believe that the fit was better with this item than any I have bought for regular use, I can't give you enough stars as 5 just isnt enough!!
The material is fantastic, the stitching was impeccable, design is just . . . wow! Not sure how to put the Jabot back on yet, but its very fancy!!!

This will be adequate to meet my needs.
I use this as an undergarment for an 18th century character in an educational program. I ordered the smallest size available but it is still a bit large for me. It will do since it is mostly covered up. I mainly wanted it for the ruffles.

I bought this shirt to wear as part of a pirate costume for a costume ball. It fits nicely and I like the material. The neck is a little tight, but they said it would be. My wife made some minor alterations there, which helps a lot.

The final step in creating my "The Duellists" look. After the first wash it smoothed right ou and came out incredibly soft. I'm fighting the urge to dye the jobot black, to match that worn by Harvey Keitel, because it looks so good just the way that it is :)

Great shirt that works well with slightly earlier period clothing. Lace cuffs are great peeking out from an 18th century style coat. Jabot took a little figuring out but once attachment system was understood, no problems.

I was looking for an appropriate shirt to wear with my Heroes of 76 uniform. This one fits the bill with a fancy addition. The shirt fits nicely and the jabot is easy putting on and taking off. Looks real nice with my uniform. Thank you!

This shirt is very well stitched and constructed. The sleeves have ample extra fabric for both the width and length, as would be appropriate for this style, and the lace is a decent length as well so that it would extend beyond the cuffs of a frock coat style. Although not made of natural fibers, the rayon fabric is soft and not too heavy and is comfortable to wear. This shirt could also pass for a late 17th early 18th-century formal shirt, with a different jabot. Highly recommended.

Great shirt!
Bought this to pair with Historical Emporium's red and black Cavalier vest and it works perfectly. Love the shirt. Only minor critical comment is that I would have preferred a little less lace on the cuffs. However, that's just my personal opinion, and I would still give the shirt five stars. Well made and drapes well on the body. It does the job.
