I got this as the replacement of the one that I got a decade ago. I love the old one, and it looks like the new one will work just as well! The old one, by the way, wore and frayed in a way that looks REALLY good!

I am a pastor and occasionally I have an opportunity to do a service that requires a vintage Parsons outfit. I'm going to be speaking at the 100th anniversary of the Easter sunrise service at a famous rock in my city that has been used by traveling preachers since 1837. My other vest was getting a little too tight so I needed a bigger one.

Very good canvas material and well stitched... Seems durable. I use the items that I buy from Historical Emporium for everyday wear and having access to canvas pants and vests at reasonable prices is very nice. Shipping is fast and customer service is THE best I have delt with lately.... I cannot express how happy I am overall with Customer Service for Historical Emporium. The only small drawback is that sometimes the sizes I want are out of stock at the time I want to order. I have checked back at a later date and been able to find the sizes I want, so I would advise others to be patient and check back.

No occasion. Just thought I would start gathering my western attire. I wore to church and everyone really like it. The only problem I have is that, I measured wrong and I chose my usual size(XL, when I should had chosen 2XL). It doesn't go over my belly, but that's ok, because I can wear it unbuttoned. The bow tie fits great. I want to build a complete western outfit, but I'll have to do it one piece at a time. I would like to get a pair of cowboy boots next or maybe a couple of shirts(Bib styles). Then, I'll work on getting a couple pairs of pants. At least, that's the plan. I'm very happy and glad I found this store. I check this site often and add items to my wish list. Keep up the good work.

This has become a favorite for my husband. Although what he really wanted was this same vest without the lapels. But he's still a happy guy.

This vest is spot on. Had to workout an exchange because I needed a tall - MEASURE THE LENGTH! You'll save yourself the trouble. Once I got this vest though I was sold. The quality is great. Nice solid canvas with a beautiful texture. It's already starting to soften and bend more easily with some wear. The buttons and back strap are all super solid. Great looking vestments, I am sure glad I found these!. I reccomend this to anyone who loves wearing blue jeans casual, I knew how good this thing is going to look, just as soon as I saw, and touched it, I haven't seen much of any other clothing offered anywhere else this good. I really like this vest and plan to use it when the weather warms and stays warm to complete my casual/dress up look. Either with jeans and a casual shirt or with a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks.

Love it! Quality of the fabric and styling are excellent! Great crossover piece with a classy touch for my favorite looks -- can go from formal to casual depending what it's combined with. Something I can wear to work, church, and downtown. The rounded bottom hem works nicely for displaying a fancy belt buckle. The Large size is slightly big for my 44" chest, but the adjustable buckle in the back makes it work, sizing is comfortable without buttons straining. Love the four front pockets, plenty of options for storage. The color is better described as brown/black, not brown/navy. The darker stripe is a soft black, not a blue tone. Love the brown/black stripe as it is, coordinates with more of my shirts/pants/jackets than the brown/navy would. The vertical stripes give a subtle slimming look.

I ordered the whole suit; Frock coat, pants, vest and spats. Great quality. I'm 6'2" 215lbs and the XLs are a little on the large size, but I'll be getting them tailored. Not sure if the large would have done it, so not a big issue. LOOKS GREAT. Good weight to the fabric.

Seems great. Haven't tried to wash/clean it yet but the quality is nice. Trust the tape measure. I couldn't bring myself to order a size large as 100% of my wardrobe is XL. Ended up having to exchange it. I think I could have even fit a medium. Trust the tape measure procedure they give you. Also, go a size up on the pants as suggested. The Ferndale combo looks pretty sweet.

Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Like previous reviews said, this thing is BLACK, it makes everything else look grey by comparison. Love it!

Spinal Tap references aside - this waistcoat is seriously black. Not so much just 'black' as BLACK. It's so black it even provides contrast against other black clothes. It's so black that light bends around it. This is a good thing. Like all of the other Bonaventure waistcoats, the texture of the velvet is is lush, the cut is sharp, the colour is rich and deep, and the internal contrast provided by the bright antiqued buttons and the trim (through texture and sheen) is a strong design feature in and of itself. A highly recommended purchase, and one I wear regularly to work, and casually. It also works as a formal waistcoat, naturally, and is durable as well as attractive. It also has the dual benefit of going with absolutely everything in my wardrobe and immediately raising the tone of anything I wear it with. It is pure class in waistcoat form. You will not be disappointed with this item, believe me.

I looked around for months trying to find a vest of this style that fit. I'm a larger guy so that can be a very tall order when sizes on amazon say 2XL but actually fit more like a medium. I even tried a 5XL and believe me, nothing will start to eat at you like going way above the size you normally wear and it still won't fit!!! Thankfully I found the Historical Emporium whose customer support worked with me to ensure that the size I ordered fit as expected. I couldn't have been more thrilled when it arrived and fit perfectly, not to mention it feels very authentic and of a high quality. I purchased this item for a cosplay. It no longer comes with the gold plain buttons apparently, but silver patterned buttons instead. I'll have to replace the buttons to make it correct for my outfit. Otherwise it is a very nice vest and fits perfectly.

I wear it when I'm working in the warehouse and I want a good looking way to protect my shirt, looks great I like it.

I am 6'1" medium build. I ordered the XL Tall. Fits perfectly. Good that it has an adjustment buckle in the back as I am slim waisted and cinched it up so it has a nice tapered look. My vest was made in Guatemala, so I am good enough with that. USA would be better, but what are ya gonna do?

I've a wardrobe for my reenactments and speaking on my war between the states persona. After being invited to participate in a Wild West event I needed a few items to adjust the look. My other vests are coat and tie ones, I needed a working man's look, this is exactly what I wanted and needed. The event isn't until the end of October and I'll be submitting photos then.

This is a sturdy well made garment. It is great for working around the property when a jacket is to much and a sweater is too delicate for the job at hand. Size seems to run a wee bit small, but may loosen up after some wear and a wash.

My usual style is Western wear, but hard to find quality inTall sizes. When I checked some shirts offered by Historical Emporium, the ones I liked didn't come in a Tall size, so I emailed to complain.They said they do offer some in Tall, so I looked again and found this gem of a vest.
