I bought these to use with Classic Canvas Trousers. They fit well, work well, and give you that classic "old west" look!

Neutral star rating.. The loopy parts that attach to the buttons are clearly leather but are the straps? They don't look, feel, or smell like leather. Editor's note: As stated in the description, these suspenders are made of leather. The leather for the straps and the connectors are different, but the are both leather.

It appears that the suspenders came from 2 different makers, I would like to see Historical Emporium offer the brown suspenders from the same maker as the black ones. The quality seems good, and they are comfortable. I look forward to many more purchases from Historical Emporium!

Quality of the leather wasn't what I expected

The actual suspenders are great -I was highly disappointed that only the tabs and back piece are actually leather - and the straps are fake - not what one is led to believe when reading the description - therefore not thrilled Editor's note - The suspenders are made of a thin cut of leather for comfort.

Straps that button to pants could have been better quality/thicker leather.

Quality might be an issue, so carefully examine yours and confirm that the leather has no thin spots that might tear after a few months of use. I found that to be a problem with one of two pairs I've owned. To WE's credit they upheld their Quality Guarantee even though the return period had expired.

I wore these suspenders with an out fit I had all night. The look great (cool accent to my costume) and fit great too thanks to the elastic in the back. Freedom to move, and style too!

Not happy with these. They are too big. They will require having holes punched to shorten. More expense! They need to be offered in smaller sizes. I am not a small guy over 6' tall and still to long. Not a good purchase!

Great suspenders. These are well made and look great. However based on the recommended measurements I ordered XL. They are Way too large. Luckily I am a leather worker so I can make them fit. If you are over 6' or a bigger boy they would probably work quite well.

These, along with the Black Canvas Trousers , were only my second purchase from the Historical Emporium and I am very pleased with the product. I admit that I enjoy them more than the trousers actually. They immediately give the impression of a product that will last forever. Mostly leather, with the lower back portion being thick elastic, they give the wearer a sense of antiquated clothing so strong that they feel so fine walking around in them. Everyone who has seen them on me was stunned by the craftsmanship. I know I was. The brass buckles are what got me the most. The only problem I encountered was expected. They ended up being to large for me, so I had to poke more holes intothem to get a perfect fit, nothing major. Though they arent so snappy in ability, they makeup for it many times over in snappy appearance. I am looking forward to my next purchase.

These suspenders are great. I have already received many compliments on them. I have the black set too but these brown really have a vintage vibe to them. In the hand, they don't look special but paired with some vintage pants and shirt and they look great!

Quality product at better-than-competetive prices.

With the swivel hooks it is hard to keep the straps from twisting.

The suspenders look great and the elastic matches with the canvas perfectly in the back so you can't tell the difference between the two. However the buttonholes on the ends are riveted to the suspenders and cannot be changed out when they wear out later on.

I have made over 20 purchases through the years and ALL have been FANTASTIC. I wear most of these on stage as a musician. Can NOT beat the quality.

I bought these "short" braces even though I am a slim 5'10" with a long torso, and I'm glad I did, because they fit perfectly. They are well-made, comfortable, and really make the outfit. Very happy!

Perfect Match With the Sweeney Trousers!

Even though people shouldn't see the suspenders of a proper gentleman, you'll know how dapper you are when you wear these with fancy pants and a tie. Works well for an Earp or Holiday kit, or if you just want to play a railroad tycoon. I matched mine up with tuxedo pants to portray an Englishman or a butler.

I haven't worn suspenders before. These were easy to put on my pants and to adjust the fit.

The suspenders were as advertised, of good quality and of good price.

These suspenders are fantastic! They fit my 5 foot 9 inch frame perfectly and the elastic has just enough give to be very comfortable for all day wear while still keeping my trousers securely in place. The satin material is shiny and smooth, giving a sleek, upper-class look that is a finishing touch on a Black Tie affair or just a casual Victorian Stroll in Saratoga Springs. I love these braces.

At the ripe young age of 42, this is honestly my first serious pair of suspenders (that weren't clip-on and mock-ups of the ones Robin Williams wore on Mork & Mindy). Combined with a proper set of trousers, I felt way too comfortable. I need more of these in my life. These are worn underneath of the waistcoat so nobody really gets to see them... except my wife as I'm taking all of the layers off. And she seems to think they look really fine on me. As far as I'm concerned, that's the final word.

These braces are extremely well made from good quality materials! They pair very well with the Classic Trousers to make an accurate historical ensemble. I wear them during our annual Antique Steam Engine show event and continually get many compliments and inquires on where they can be purchased. Very good product for the money!

These don't come with clips. You need to have pants with buttons on them, either already on them from the manufacturer, or do like I do and just grab a few buttons and a needle and thread. They are good quality, comfortable, and look manly. I got them in black, and might get a second pair in brown, just to mix things up a little. I like to wear them with jeans, they look a little rustic, but with a touch of class. I do enjoy getting dressed up, it's great to look and feel your best, but I also know that daily life and everyday function are necessary. If you buy all this stuff just to keep in a drawer or the back of your closet, what is the point of it? I am glad to have these as part of my wardrobe.

Which is to say there for someone tall for today and very tall for Victorian times. And whats with the elastic? There suposed to be leather.

The quality of the leather and the metal buckles is great. It's a robust design suitable for actual work use and not just costuming. A lot of people noted that they are longer than expected; At 6'1", the fit me fine with using the last hole in the leather (smallest length). A shorter or thinner person might find them too long.

I love the leather and buckle look of these! Unfortunately they were too big - one size does not fit all, and they are not really adjustable beyond the few buckle holes - I'm going to take about 2" off the elastic part in the back to make them work and possibly shorten the leather ends by an inch or two just to avoid lots of extra "tongue" Also one side had more holes than the other, so if you're not careful, you can adjust them lopsided. (my guy wears a Medium size in everything, so he's not exceptionally tiny or thin) Still, it's worth the few adjustments for the classier look of the leather!

I am tall and have a set of the longer suspenders, but they , like any elastic suspenders stretch, and it eventually placed the metal adjustment piece right on my shoulder and collar bone which was irritating. Bought the shorter ones and they are perfect, even though I am 6’-2”.

Very low grade leather is used. This would only be useful for a costume; not for wearing normally. I also ordered all leather suspenders and was similarly disappointed.

The Y-Suspenders fits me like a glove it matches my body height 5 feet 6 inches l would recommend to other people.

Following The Sizing Chart, I Ordered The Short Suspenders (I'm 5'7") Now My Trousers Stay Put and They Look Great! The Suspenders Too! Ride On!

These are good braces. I got the shorter ones which work a bit better with high-waisted trousers. It would be ideal, however, if the Emporium carried braces/suspenders specifically designed for high-waisted trousers (e.g. with shorter runner ends etc.)

the entire outfit was purchased for a wedding at the end of March, but these suspenders work for every day use as well

I am 5"11 210lbs and the longs are to long for me to wear with period correct pants. the sizing note were not helpful for period fitting pants, "They are made to fit men taller than 5'9", with typical to large builds. If you are shorter than 5'10 with a slim build, you might prefer the fit of our short suspenders, which are 4" shorter." They have lots of adjustment, but the elastic give to much to make up for the higher waist line. Another then that they seem very well made.

I like to CosPlay a number of Steam Punk characters and needed appropriate, durable ''bracers'' for some working man roles. These look really good with a nice natural off-white color. The straps to attach them to the pant's buttons are a nice heavier weight and add to the look i wanted. They are comfortable and fit my rotund 6 foot body with adjustment to spare. If you are looking for the right suspenders for a 49er miner, Victorian working person or other not-so-dressy suspender these look great.

These suspenders are of excellent quality and fit perfectly. I was concerned about the fit as your description said they were 48" and would fit people 5' 9" and taller and I am 5' 5" tall. The "Y" in the back fits right between my shoulder blades and there is plenty of adjustment up and down. Great suspenders, I would recommend them to everyone. Thank you!

I ordered these with a pair of trousers. It's not rocket science to figure out how to use suspenders. They're made of fine quality but the only issue I have is the adjusters don't hold very tightly. They're awfully loose. Still these are pretty good for the price and quality.

I have several different pairs of suspenders from Historical Emporium and like them, but since these have arrived I've had them on everyday. I like the rugged thick leather connectors and the comfortable natural colored canvas straps. They're my go-to suspenders any time the look need not be dressy.

An affordable solution to a period necessity!

Well made, strong and stylish, the only problem I had was with the size, I have a relatively slight frame and found the elasticated back far too long. My wife has made an adjustment to this and all is well. Mark Green.

Nice looking suspenders but I have to side with "variable". The elastic back strap is very long and I, being of average size, have the Y up on my neck when wearing them with high waisted trousers. Need to shorten the back by sewing it in folds. Hope that works and makes them wearable. Otherwise they look and feel sturdy and of good quality.

Though these suspenders are nice to look at they are very long in the back and if worn with period pants the 'Y' will ride up at your neck very quickly if you are anything larger than medium build. The front button loops are pretty, but the leather is weak and they are the exact same length, which causes the inside loop to take all the strain and the outside loop to blouse, often coming undone. Good enough for a costume showpiece, but not for real daily wear.

title says it all , they are a nice colour , adjusted easily in minutes , clip onto and of of the buttons easy enough , do not come off as you are wearing them or sitting down .
