How to Choose a Corset

We offer two styles of corsets: Classic Corsets, and Fashion Corsets.

Classic corsets are steel-boned corsets, and are designed to offer up to a 2" waist reduction. Fashion corsets have lighter weight construction, including plastic boning, and are not designed to reduce your waist.

To determine your size, stand and measure your natural waist (usually the smallest point on your torso). Do not suck in your stomach to take the measurement. Just relax and breathe normally and use that measurement. Once you have your measurement, then you have 2 choices:

  • Waist Reduction: If you desire to reduce your waist, you need to choose a classic corset, and should order one size below your natural waist size. For example, if your waist measures 32" and you wish to shrink your waist, you should order the size equivalent to 30" in a Classic Corset. DO NOT order a Fashion Corset.
  • No Waist Reduction: Our corsets are also terrific fashion accessories when worn comfortably loose. If you do not need waist reduction, or plan to participate in an activity where you do not want to restrict movement, just order a Classic or Fashion corset in the size indicated in the size chart.

How to Put On a Corset

Our corsets are designed to be easy to put on, but it is always easier to tighten the corset when you have someone available to help you.

  1. Unhook all of the front hook and eye closures.
  2. Loosen the laces at the back of the corset (approximately 6"), then wrap the corset around you with the laces in the back.
  3. Hook the front closures. Start at the top and work your way down as they hooks can come loose if they are done in a random order.
  4. Begin tightening the corset. If the corset has a modesty panel, be sure the modesty panel continues to lay flat behind the laces. Stop tightening when the lacing is fully closed or if you become uncomfortable.
  5. Tie a nice bow at the back. Don't try anything fancy or tie knots, as you will need to loosen the laces to take the corset off.

Please note: For the first several times you wear your corset, you should not tighten the laces all the way. The corset needs an adjustment period to conform to the contours of your body. Over the first several wearings, you should tighten the laces only part way, progressing a bit further with each wearing until you can fully tighten the laces. Long term it will fit better and last longer if you give the corset a chance to adjust to your form.

Do Not Overlace your Corset

Our Classic Corsets are designed to reduce your waist by up to 2", the Fashion Corsets do not provide any waist reduction . Please use our sizing chart, and do not buy a corset that measures smaller than the recommended size, as overtightening may damage the corset and make it unusable.

Initially you should not tighten the corset all the way down. Start slowly and allow your body and the corset to adjust. Over time you should be able to tighten the corset the full amount. Remember, breathing is important! If you have trouble moving or breathing, you should loosen your laces a bit.

How to Care for Your Corset

When not in use, corsets should be stored flat so that the boning is not warped or damaged. As mentioned above, we also recommend that you wear a thin undergarment beneath the corset to protect the fabric if possible.

If you do need to wash your corset we recommend first that you try spot cleaning with a soft brush or rag. Be careful not to leave water spots. If a more thorough cleaning is required, then please DRY CLEAN the corset. Do NOT wash this in a washing machine as the boning will likely be damaged and ruin the fit.

Do the Corsets have Hooks for Stockings?

Yes, our corsets have four ribbon loops for stocking garters at the bottom.

Do you have Corsets that will reduce my waist further than 2 Inches? Can I have a Corset Custom-Made?

At this time we do not offer stronger corsets, and we do not offer custom corset orders.
