Amethyst gems were quite prized in the late 19th century, especially those with the exotic purple color that made the wearer feel oh-so-aristocratic. Exquisitely crafted, the purple amethyst-like stone (about ½” square) gives off the impression of acquisition during some exotic, overseas voyage enjoyed by the wearer. A setting of rippled filigree with a silver finish rightly accents the natural-inspired beauty of the stone.
