I had to appear in a morning coat suit for a formal academic event with European protocol (the men wore either their academic regalia or a morning coat suit). It turns out that the coat is not easy to come by in the US, but I was fortunate to run across the Historical Emporium's website. They had the right coat in my size in stock and shipped right away. It's a nicely made coat in exactly the right style, although the materials are modern, light weight and comfortable. I'd certainly buy from them again should the occasion arise.

Received the coat and tried it on immediately and noticed how light it was, which was a very big plus for the temperatures that we find on the middle Gulf Coast of Texas. The sleeves were about 6 inches too long, but that was good since the wife can sew (I can too, but only when I have to) and she could fit it to my arm length. Very happy with the coat so far and see no issues at this time!

We were using this jacket as a costume piece for a show. It arrived in record time which was great. We also needed an extra large size which wasn't easy to find anywhere else. The sleeves needed hemming but that 's ok better than too short. The coat was well made and can be kept for future endeavors. It looked amazing and really added to the character.

We decided to finally try going out to the beach and my boyfriend is not a confident type or person so he would rather have the cover of a shirt but never liked the newer fashions. So when he saw Sweeney Todd's bathing suit we had to find one and this was exactly what he wanted! Fits him amazing and he wears it even out and about now.

I was looking for something that could pass for either a costume piece or an everyday suit. This one nicely fits the bill. Well constructed and the material feels good against the skin. Plus, it came in Long sizes. I recommend.

I got the smallest size on the website unaware of the brand, having looked them up realizing they had a short option I probably would have opted for if available on this site. The vest fit me very well and the jacket width wise was also nice with the sleeves being about the correct length but the tail of the jacket being very long. The pants were also quite long and if I attempted to walk in them without rolling them in I would step on them as I walked. Aside from needing some work to fit me personally it is a very nice suit for the price. I do regret not ordering a tie to match.

I'm creating a mid-1800s clergy outfit and this coat, with the matching trousers (and suspenders) arrived quickly and, though the material is thicker than I would like, they fit as sized and only needing to shorthen the sleeve length and trouser hem. Amen :-)

This Livingston cutaway sack coat is a very well made coat with an all round tailor-made look & fit's me well the sizing was spot on to my size that i ordered. This is an excellent addition to my Old West wardrobe & highly recommended as a purchase.

The Livingston cutaway sack coat is a VERY NICE coat for the money . It runs true to my standard suit coat sizing and fit me perfectly . The only problem i had was that the top button hole was sewn too small for the button . Easy fix for me so i just handled that problem in house.

The product came in good condition, and it was very sturdy and well made. It was just a TINY bit stiff when we took it out, so trying to get it into a more natural shape to put on our actor was a little tricky indeed. Nice coat and had that period look and feel. A good fit for the actor I was building a period costume for who was leaving for a film shoot in Austria. The only problem I found was that the p coat buttonholes are too small for buttons. Very difficult to open and close. Since, the actor will be leaving the coat open the problem did not have to be remedied.

I love the coat. I had to take it to the tailor and have the sleeves take up but otherwise it’s perfect.

This straw boater is perfect for a museum display accompanying Mark Twain's book Life on the Mississippi. At the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, Missouri, we do a rotating display of his first editions to protect them from light and wear. Mark Twain wore a straw boater similar to this one when he worked as a cub pilot (learning the ropes) on steamboats on the Mississippi River.

The high price caught me off guard at first, but once I actually received the hat and got to take a look at it, I realized that its price is justified. Handmade and feels as authentic as can be for a panama hat, I was most pleased that a hat, for once, wasn't too small or constrictive for my otherwise large head. As a matter of fact, the hat is just barely slightly large, which I'm 100% okay with after a lifetime of small hats. It works well not just as an authentic period piece, it can also work as other costumes such as a CIA agent in Cuba if you so choose (as a humorous example). In short, a high-quality, handmade hat that can accommodate large heads (as long as you order the correct size).

Originally got the 40 R , I usually wear an AMERICAN 40 R suit . The 40 R tuxedo jacket might have worked but the pants were a bit tight. Went with the 42 regular and both fits were very good. The quality of the suit was very good, as most other reviews stated. I am very pleased with the tuxedo, especially for the price. Exchange of suits no problem

This Tux is excellent quality. It retails at other places for over $350 making this and extremely good deal. It is also sized as described and is very comfortable to wear. This outfit will be getting a lot of use.

I was very disappointed with the tuxedo coat as one of the buttons on one side had almost completely dropped off and two others below it were very loose. I had to take it to a local tailors for repair.

I needed an outfit for a Victorian-era costume event and this tux proved just the ticket. The price was only slightly more than the cost of a rental. This tuxedo is nicer than the asking price would indicate, and I am very pleased. I first ordered my regular size, but it proved to be just a bit snug. I simply sent it back and ordered the next size up – PERFECT. The only other comments that I need to add relate to the pants and may be of significant interest for prospective buyers. The information on the sizing of the pants indicates that the pants “are sized with waists 6” smaller than the coat size.” Initially, I was concerned that getting a larger coat would make the pants far too large. No worries! The pants (like many tuxedo pants) feature an adjustable waist – the adjustment let me reduce the waist a few inches to make for a perfect fit. It’s a nice suit and an excellent value. This is such a great tux at a steal of a price. It will look great at my wedding and at any concert I conduct or perform in. The blue paisley pattern on the inside of the jacket is a darker blue than pictured, which to me is a plus.

Our grand daughter has chosen the theme of late Victorian for her wedding. Her colors are red and Gold. The first coat, shirt and pants that I ordered were too big and I needed to return them for the next smaller size. The exchange was accomplished within 5 days. A company rep. was very helpful when I called about the problem. The replacement garments are a good fit although I will need a small alteration to the vest because my middle is larger than my chest. Quality & workmanship of clothing is excellent and I expect that they will last for many years.... and Never go out of style. Thank you! I plan to order additional items in future.

Right from the box, my new coat looked great, and exactly like what I wanted. As I tried it on, it actually fit perfectly. It's going to be hard to wait till the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes to wear it, but I'll try... I would recommend this coat to anyone interested in stepping back in time for Events.

Added a straw hat, striped sox's, and tongs. Maybe beach ball too. It makes some people laugh. Which is what I wanted. It is comfortable. Would like see price come down. But probably say that about most things. You can really swim in it.
