Normally, the sizing on HE's clothing runs large, but I had a hunch to go up one size, and I'm glad I did. Even one size up, it was still a little snug, but it's a wonderful vest with the same high quality I've come to expect from HE. Very nice!

Have been looking for a well-tailored, high-buttoned vest for a long time. The Buckingham is very well constructed, fully lined mandarin collar vest. Its pockets are deep, and the fabric covered buttons are well made. It feels substantial, like a lightweight suit jacket without arms. When fully buttoned it is not constrictive, and looks fantastic.

The vest was perfect for my event and I see wearing it to other social events as well. I had to get it tailored as it was too large but that was only because there was no time to return it for a medium. Still, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This is a good quality, well constructed vest. I am disappointed, however, that even though I ordered a Small, I'm still swimming in it (I wear a size 37 jacket). That's just the fault of the supplier that they don't offer an Extra Small. I'll just have to take it to a tailor or add a belt in the back. This is actually just the same vest offered by a few clergy suppliers--it is a clergy vest--but offered at a lower price.

I bought this vest for a Steampunk Ball and, with the addition of a few cog on the chest and collar, it was perfect! It has since become a regular part of my Good Suit. It's worth noting that each item of clothing I've purchased from Historical Emporium has been slightly larger than I expected. This is probably due to sizing differences from the States to Australia, but It is something customers should be aware of. I can highly recommend this vest.

This is a great vest! It is a little heavier than the average vest, which makes it great for cooler temperatures. If you want to use the three pockets, you will have to cut open the stitching, but a simple pen knife makes it a snap. The vest is very stylish and I like the high collar. I received the vest a few days after placing my order: wonderful expediency!

Great quality on this vest. The Gramercy velvet vests are lacking in material assurance. Had to throw them out due to chunks of velvet coming off. I will probably order another Buckingham vest.

I absolutely LOVE this vest. The red/black Buckingham vest is completely stunning. It came to my home in about 2-3 business days from the time I bought this vest. The vest is absolute splendor and beauty. It also fits me very well. I do have some words of advice to those who want this vest. First: you're going to want to reenforce the buttons as they are a little loosely attached. Second: be very honest about your measurments. This vest is cut smaller than other vests made by HE. Other than that you will be the talk of the town in the Buckingham vest. If you love victorian style vests; get this now.

It would have been nice if you had vests in smaller sizes than Small. This vest we had to sew in. But still a very nice vest and a good fabrick.

beautiful garment I had the all black version too. Now I want one that is purple, that is black with purple accents, buttons and edges. It wears well and many people tell me how attractive it is. But then I love vests perhaps a morning coat in similar colors would be fitting as well

Historically accurate? Maybe. Awesome? A resounding yes! This is a Sharp(e), dashing waistcoat that got me noticed the first time I put it on. The fabric is excellent and the buttons are good quality. The button-hole stitching is machine-made: enough said. The cut is longer than the usual vest and is generous through the stomach area without being over-large in the shoulders. Beautifully shaped and tapered so you don't miss the adjuster strap at all. Only downside is that the inside French seams did not leave enough room to cover the rough edges so after one wearing I had thick threads hanging out all over. However, that's easily remedied with snips and should not put you off the purchase. Multiple buttons give several different looks. One of their best products. Highly recommended.

Beautiful vest which I plan on wearing with my Sheriffmuir jacket and kilt. I plan on wearing including the frilly shirt with the lace jabot and cuffs. The only thing negative is that some of the cloth covering the buttons is coming loose. Not sure what to do about that.

Spot on sizing, L good for a size 42 - 44. Brilliant red that "pops." Paired with the Sovereign Regency Tailcoat; will wear next week with a blue suit for a Christmas Party.

This is an amazing looking vest. The collar will be better if you have a longer neck. I originally ordered a 3x, but had to exchange it for a 2x. Customer service was fantastic. The exchange was made way quicker than I anticipated due to the current Covid crisis. Always a pleasure to shop with HE.

I've wanted a green waistcoat for the holidays and St. Patrick's day and I finally purchased this one. I love it! The high collar gives it a little oriental look. It's a little longer than usual waistcoats, which I like. If I wear a belt, it's hidden nicely with this. The fabric is beautiful and it's fairly lightweight so I'll be wearing it in the spring as well.

This Waistcoat was worn for a total of two weeks 14 days straight for 14hrs each day, cleaning was a good brushing and hand wash on every (never let a machine wash such a garments) 5th day. The performance was simple outstanding never was a fabric covered button lost, nor one of the 4 lined pocket torn even the lining stayed intact and in place after each wash, quite surprisingly I might add, all stitching was tight on all seems and points simply perfect. The beautiful fabric design is amazing, one can feel each and every swirl of the tapestry, black highlights emphasized by the dark black background. A silver Pocket watch-chain draped across the front with a starched crisp white shirt underneath and I was the talk of the office now everybody wants to know where I purchased this extraordinary Waistcoat, I think I'll tell next week. This is a must have for any true Gentleman !

Great looking waistcoat and fits the purpose perfectly. A little too roomy at the waistline and does not have the adjustable band at the back; however if I expand, there is room for me to grow! A size smaller would not fit properly in the chest, so prefer the roomier waist as the lesser issue. It is also worn under an 18th century-like coat so no overall worries.

An incredible Regency Period style vest. Excellent quality with excellent fit. One of the most expensive I think that Historical Emporium offers, but worth the money. You get what you pay for. I work as a professional historical tour guide in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area and have already received many compliments on it during the course of my rounds. We got this for our son for his birthday. It was soooo worth it when he opened it and the look on his face. He kept it on and studied the quality of the vest and continued to point out to us how great it was made. After buying the trousers (Pants) and frilly shirt some time ago I was looking for something loud and thought the Cavalier Waistcoat (Vest) might just do the job. I am not in an historical club or do I have a thing about historical clothing but I feel this is the sort of clothing one should be seen in on any special occasion. Anyone can wear fashion and most people do and that is why they look so very mediocre! before the shirt and trousers came I was somewhat apprehensive about the fit although trousers tend to fit when the waist mesurement is right and shirts are generally good if the cut isn't a tight one. With the Waistcoat, due to bad experience I was really worried. Will it be too short?, too tight?, too loose? or does it, because of my not too streamline figur, look too stupid?! Well, I took it out of the parcel, took off my sweat shirt and whilst only in a T shirt I put it on. I knew, from this moment on, this wanderful piece of clothing was going to be my number one of all time! It fitted so well I almost cried and to help me not do so I had a single malt Whisky!!! The cavalier vest was absolutely beautiful! I couldn't even wait till Christmas to give it to my husband; he got it a week early. The size ran true; it fit him perfectly. He really liked it too; the only downside is it didn't have a watch pocket. But that was the style of the period piece; not a design flaw. I was very satisfied with this product.

I like the pattern and design of these double breasted vests so much that I purchased several in different colors. You don't see anything much like them on the market today. My only disappointments are that I like to sport a pocket watch when I get dressed up and these vests don't have pockets of any sort. Also, the added touch of a buckle on the back strap would have been nice. Two details that seem to have fallen by the wayside in the name of cost savings. I give this vest 4 out of five stars.
