I do like very much this blouse, except, the sleeve length, I have a M and a L size. I compared the blouses, found the sleeve lengths are the same. I bought the L for two reasons, the sleeve length and the fullness of the body. The fullness of the body is good in the L size. but the length of the sleeve, I needed a 1/2 inches or a bit longer. They fabric is great, and the design goes with several of my costumes. I just thought you would like to know.

I purchased this pinstripe blouse and the matching skirt for an upcoming event in my hometown. The event requires us to have on traditional looking 1850's clothing. This outfit is fashioned perfectly for the time period, very well made and fit true to size. I am so impressed and felt the price was great for the quality I received.

Beautiful Blouse! Pay attention to fit. I had to return this blouse and order the next size up, which I did because once it arrived and I saw it in person, I had to have it! Very well made and just a gorgeous design. Extremely flattering. I ordered a size L using the bust measurement in the fit chart and the blouse did fit, but the neck was uncomfortably snug and the sleeves a tad short. The next size up, XL, gave me the length in the sleeves I needed (I will be working a box office while wearing it) and more comfort in the neck. There is more room in the bust area, but as I am tucking it into my skirt it will tailor visually. So by all means buy this blouse, but take these comments into mind if you are lengthy in the limbs to avoid paying return shipping.

Sizing chart was different on this one and the one I ordered was too small so I returned it.

I love the style of the Gibson blouse, however, I returned it. I purchased two different styles of blouses and returned this one. I usually wear a "small" size. I ordered both blouses in the size "medium". For me, the neckline and cuffs on the Gibson blouse were too tight. I would recommend ordering one size larger. The fabric on the Gibson Blouse was a lighter weight than I expected. I kept the other blouse and enjoy wearing it. Historical Emporium accepted my return of the Gibson Blouse. I will be ordering from them again.

I took a chance & ordered this blouse online. I usually like to try on clothes & examine the material before I buy. It fits perfectly! I am very pleased with the feel of the cotton material. I can't wait to wear it on Christmas day. I wanted an "old fashion" look!

This is a quality product with great construction and material. This will be a great basic for many historical costume events. The shipping was fast and it was nicely packaged. I bought a large based on the sizing chart and the body fits perfectly but the neck and cuffs are meant to fit close and these dimensions should be part of the sizing chart. Also the length of the arm. I found the arms a bit short and the neck and cuffs a bit tight. It is wearable but I would have sized up if I had seen those measurements in advance.

Sizing was very accurate and quality of material very good. I followed the washing instruction provided and the blouse has kept its integrity.

This was my first order with HE, sort of a "test balloon," and it went perfectly. The description warned that the blouses ran a bit small, so if in doubt, order up a size, and I did. Perfect fit. The event for which I need the blouse isn't until October, so I will be doing some more shopping!

I ordered this blouse for my daughter's history fair. She had to dress up as a historical figure she researched. This blouse was made with good quality fabric, and it's totally different from cheap thin material that you usually see at a costume store. I was very happy with the quality.

The construction of the shirt, the fabric, cut, and so forth are amazing. However, the sleeves are too short for my arms, leaving me with limited arm mobility when the cuffs are buttoned. Other than that, I love it. If you have long arms (I'm 6 feet tall), this may not be a great shirt for you completely buttoned. However, it's wearable, and it is a beautiful, well made shirt.

I love the blouse. The body fits great. I only have two small issues to address for me personally. The blouse is a little too long but I plan to have that altered. Also, the cuffs are a bit loose and allow the cuffs to cover my hand. I have small wrists and it has nothing to do with the quality of the merchandise. I will have my alterations lady move the buttons over just about one inch and the blouse will be perfect. Please don't consider this a negative because I realize that every size, whether small, medium, large, etc. is meant to fit a wide variety of body types. Many of my clothes need to be altered because I have a short upper body and short arms. Thank you for a well constructed product and fast delivery. I know I will enjoy my blouse for years to come.

The quality of this blouse is very good. It's a true cream/ivory. The bust size was accurate. I will add that the wrist size is enormous and most will have to take it in on that larger size. A minor bit of sewing skill required to simply move the buttons to size no problem. I do recommend this blouse for reenactments, cosplay, EGL, and if you want to feel fancy!

I was extremely pleased with this blouse. I got tons of compliments on my costume. I ordered a Large based on my bust measurements - probably could have gotten the Medium, but the fit was good nonetheless.

Needed a more formal blouse to go with a fancy Wash Day bustle skirt I sewed. This fit the bill perfectly. Well made, but fits quite snug in the bust while having almost hilariously long sleeves. Luckily a wash shrunk the cotton enough so that I did not need to alter the sleeves to make wearing feasible. Shoulder area fits per size. Next time I will order up a size. Lace is very pretty, love the ribbon detail on the sleeves, I got lots of compliments and your blouse ended up on the front page of the local paper!

Be very careful when ordering blouses. Each item has its own sizing chart, based on your fullest chest measurement. For those of us who are not the average, the sizing requires that we buy a blouse that is sized much larger than the mainstream clothing brands. As the size of the blouse increases, so do the shoulder, waist and sleeve length. In my case, I usually wear a medium, or perhaps a large blouse, and can have it in petite to fit my 5'4" frame. For this blouse I needed an XL to fit my chest, but then had to hire a seamstress to take up the sleeves and pull in the shoulder seams. My $60 blouse now costs me $90!

I ordered this blouse for a special event in which I had a time deadline. When I received the blouse I was totally in love with the look, the design and the quality. Unfortunately, the size was a problem. I normally always wear a medium in a blouse. This blouse was considerably smaller than the mediums that I have purchased in the past. Due to a deadline, I was unable to return the blouse for a larger size. I opted for a bit of my own tailoring. I let out the front darts and found it wearable. I was so sorry about the fit, otherwise I would have given the blouse 5 stars.

The styling is beautiful and comfortable (the medium is a *tiny* bit tight on her 34C/D chest, but the ruffling hides that), and the blouse seems to be quite well-made. I used this blouse in a portrayal of Mrs. Benjamin Harrison, wife of the 23rd President of the US, at historic Berkeley Plantation on the James River in Virginia, the Harrison's ancestal home. Although this blouse was in the "western" collection, it worked well as a "day dress" ensemble worn when at home. I love the clothing you can purchase from the Historical Emporium..definitely aligns with historical periods... is good quality and well made. What I have found is when ordering, you need to probably purchase the next size up. I ordered the Weddington Blouse in a large because of my bust size; however, when I received it, it was too tight across the chest so I returned it and ordered an extra large. The extra large fits in the shoulders and chest, but the arm length is too long as is the length of the shirt--I could almost wear it as a night shirt. I love the design and quality of it, so I'm taking it to a seamstress to get it altered to fit my 5'1" frame. The added cost to have it altered plus the price of the shirt makes it a little pricey. I only wish they would carry petite sizes to fit those of us who are petite, then perhaps I wouldn't have the same problem the next time I order. Highly recommend the company if you are seeking historical types of clothing.

It's a beautiful blouse, and perfect for my job as a Victorian-costumed Christmas caroler. My only problem is that despite my weight being stable over the years, and my measurements actually getting smaller by an inch or two, I now take a size 3X. I started off with the Darlington blouse as an XL, then went to 2X so that I could wear long underwear under the shirt for outdoor caroling gigs. So I ordered a 2X in the Weddington, and it was too small. If it shrunk at all, it would not have fit, let alone over a high-tech warming layer. So I ordered the 3X, and it just fits with the extra layer after the first washing, though the sleeves are a bit too long. I don't know if it's the style of the blouse or if the company's sizes have shrunk. But I guess I'd better pay more attention to losing weight if I hope to keep buying from Historical Emporium!

First blouse I had to send back because the size was not according to your chart. The second one did fit. The product was well made, however, the stitching used, especially in the shoulders was very itchy. I did wear it for an event last night and got a lot of compliments on the entire outfit.

The blouse itself is quite nice and fits well. The shoulder seams, however, are horrible. The material to make it stiff, buckram or something, pokes right into my shoulders. It's like pins sticking into your skin. I had to sew some seam binding on it to be able to wear it.

Like the blouse. Would've been better with 2 rows of ruffles. Was a little disappointed that the cuffs were shorter than on the photo.

This was my first purchase from the Emporium, after browsing and coveting for a long time. I needed a new blouse to replace my old favorite one: I wanted a white blouse that was feminine without being overly fussy, was short-sleeved, and had detailing that could work for a steampunk ensemble or modern work attire. This fit the bill perfectly! The sizing chart was accurate, and the blouse fits me well. The fabric is sturdy but still lightweight, without being overly sheer like too many women's blouses are nowadays. Shipping was timely, too. I definitely will make more purchases in the future!

This is a lovely, soft, well made blouse. I read the sizing information and it fit perfectly. It does have a long tail so might not be good for very short ladies, but for me it was perfect. Also bought it in black. These blouses will go well with my Victorian walking skirts.

I am a 6' tall woman and I normally wear a 24 or a 3x. I ordered th 28 and it fits well. It's a little more sheer than I thought it would be bit I have found a camisole that I think will work. I am a Mrs. Claus and I wanted something that would look less cartoonish.

This blouse looks pure white in the picture, but is really ivory (which didn't match my intended skirt). Otherwise, I liked the fit on my slim, flat-chested body. The detached jabot collar doesn't really fit well around the blouse collar, so I probably would never wear it.

I am not a re-enactor. I am a lover of history and period clothing, which is why Historical Emporium is such a "gem" for me. The vesta blouse in white meets expectations for a non-cotton blouse. The color is not a bright white, thankfully, the fabric suitable for a polyester--it is not a heavy material and will wear well during warm days. I love that three different looks can be achieved with the jabot and collar. The blouse is easy to iron, a big plus. I used the sizing chart provided, but sized up one and the fit is perfect. Very pleased with the price and quality. I'll wear this often.

The Vista blouse is super cute --- but the sizing is off. Based on reviews, I upped my size to M (38) from my usual Petite Small,(American size 6). That was good. BUT the fitted waist was way, way too tight. Sadly I had to return it -- and I loved the design!

I own this blouse in several colors because it is so nice to wear a Victorian style that does not need to be tucked in and/or added waist cover (gives me an effortless, feminine silhouette). It is made of a thick, durable cotton that is comfortable to wear and even the puffy sleeves hold up very well with repeated machine washings. I'm more of a small size fit but due to the snug forearm/wrist tailoring, I prefer wearing a size medium. Excellent purchase!

I kept this blouse because I generally like the style, but it could definitely be better. According to the sizing chart I would take an XS. I purchased both an XS and S just to compare. Pay attention to the stated cuff measurement and realize that that has to fit over not only your wrist, but entire forearm as well! I have very scrawny arms, and I couldn't fully button the XS. The cut of the collar is also slightly uncomfortable. Although I can fit several fingers between the collar and my neck, it fits so that it kind of chokes in the front and gaps in the back. The body of the blouse fits well on my flat-chested frame. I'm also not looking forward to ironing this.

Quality garment. I am petite size so had to tuck bottom of sleeve under which worked well. I left the top button undone for comfort...but that is just me.

This the perfect all around Victorian white blouse. I bought it because it is simple and elegant. I can add jewelry to embellish. I ordered a size large, even though I normally wear a medium. Having ordered a blouse from this site previously, I knew it tends to run a bit small. I am 5'5", 140 lbs. I love that it doesn't have to be tucked in but still defines the waist area. It is well made with good fabric weight and quality. Wish I didn't have to iron it but guess it's easier than what the Victorians had to go through!

I had this one in white for years and i loved it, sooo get one in every color, right? I have altered it by moving the buttons and by cutting the fabric behind the lace to make it insertion lace. This is a great blouse if you want an insertion lace blouse but really don't want to have to make a whole blouse. Good construction and quality, very easy to alter for personalization.

The design was just as it appeared on the website and was just what I needed. The seams over the shoulders were very scratchy and uncomfortable.

Nice quality. Great fit. I put twill tape on the shoulder seam to relieve the scratching. This blouse will be used a lot.

I purchased this blouse for my teen daughter to wear in a production set in the late 1800s. The style was perfect, the blouse looked great up close and on stage. The shipping was very fast. The blouse will be a great addition to our growing costume wardrobe. I would give this 5 stars except for a few issues ... First, the sizing information for the blouse is not helpful. We measured exactly based on the sizing info posted and purchased a large. It was HUGE all over. We had to quickly purchase a smaller size which fit perfectly. Second, right away the buttons began to unravel and had to be re-sewn, AND the buttonholes were also unraveling. Third, this blouse is pricey at $56.95, especially with the buttons and buttonholes not sewn well. Regarding the sizing information: sizes are suggested based only on bust measurements. It would be helpful if the specific measurements of the blouse (shoulder width, arm length, as well as a flat measurement of the torso width of the blouse) would be posted for each size. Customers could then make a more informed size choice and would be less likely to have to pay for a return.

I like the quality of this blouse. As I read in the reviews, the cuffs were too big around so I had to either move all those buttons or make a dart. I made a dart in each. The top of shoulder seams were very itchy where the edges were surged. I decided to cover them with some fabric and that fixed the problem. I also washed the blouse and upon ironing it, saw that it was drawn up in some places that the ironing was able to mostly press out. This isn't uncommon with cotton products. Now it fits just fine.

I bought this shirt for my Marie Curie Halloween costume, and the look was PERFECT. It's a beautiful shirt, and clearly high quality -- made of nice, thick fabric. It did seem to run a lot larger than I was expecting. I ordered a size that, according to the size chart, would fit my bust and be a bit large everywhere else. But it wound up being pretty tent-like. Perhaps that's my fault for being disproportionate, but even still, the sleeves extended well past my hands, and I had to take the cuffs in by several inches to get them to stay at my wrists. So if you're deciding between two sizes, I'd recommend going for the smaller one. (One of the key features of this shirt is the puffed shoulders, and you don't want the shirt to be so big that those aren't sitting on your shoulders.) But don't be deterred by my experience with the sizing -- it really is a beautiful & high-quality shirt. I'll definitely be buying more clothes from Historical Emporium in the future.

Quality blouse, size is accurate & fits like I had it custom made. However, the sleeves have a lace trim running down the length of the sleeve. At the inside shoulder seam the lace scratched & irritated my skin. So I hand-stitched in bias tape to cover the seam across the top of the shoulder. Problem solved. It just took some of my time to fix it. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. I would buy it again if I need another color.

The blouse is beautiful. I'd say it runs a bit large. The problem is where the sleeve meets the bodice at the shoulders. The lining used to make it "puffy" is so uncomfortable and scratchy that you will need to wear a T-shirt underneath it to prevent a rash. This may be practical in Victorian London, but not so much in California.

If the makers would manage turn the ends of the netting they used there not to the human size, but to the top side of the sleeve, the blouse would be perfect. I solved the problem adding extra fabric layer over pricky piece and it worked.

My only concern is when comparing it to my other, same sized blouse purchased from you, this one is not as roomy across the bust line. I imagine the addition of the pleats gathered some of the looseness found in other style.

I have a white blouse from this company in size medium that fits perfectly. I ordered this one in medium as well but it runs larger. If I'd tried it on, I would probably have purchased a small. Also I didn't care for the white trim at the cuffs and collar so I removed it. The blouse is of excellent weight material and well finished and made.
