I ordered this vest as part of a western outfit I am putting together and it fits well and feels even better.

It was a great looking vest and very well made. When I received the vest I was a little disappointed because it was black and not brown. The picture looks like a dark brown. It was however my own fault as I did not read the description where it plainly said BLACK. The only thing that was upsetting when I opened the box it looked almost as if it had already been worn. It had a few spots of something white on it that almost looked like toothpaste. At first I thought maybe is was chalk or something from when they made it, but it did not rub off easily like chalk would have. I did not attempt to get it off because I was sending it back to exchange it for the brown one I originally wanted. Returns are extremely easy with this company! I am quite sure I would order from them again if the occasion arises.

When I ordered this I wasn't sure if I'd like it. From the instant I tried it on I've not stopped saying "WOW!!!!" The leather is soft and drapes perfectly. The color is true black. The buttons and the pockets are just the way they should be. I'm going to order it in brown as soon as I'm done writing this review. Excellent product!

Leather is butter soft. Sizing is perfect. Gave to my son as Christmas gift and he loves it!

I bought this vest for my husband for is birthday. It is beautiful soft leather and fits very well. The fact that you can order this in chest sizes makes this a much better fit rather than small, medium or large. The western style and the details on the vest are very nice.

This is not a work vest. Rather, a nicer go-to-town vest. The leather is great quality, excellent craftsmanship and very nicely shaped. I enjoy a leather vest for many reasons. This one is as fine as any I have ever tried, wore, or examined.

Purchased the Trailrider Vest as a Christmas gift 3 weeks before Christmas. Had searched many sites that did not have the vest in stock and could not guarantee that it could be back ordered in time for Christmas. Not only did Historical Emporium have the vest in stock, but I received the vest 6 days later, well in time for Christmas. The vest was of excellent quality! It was better than I imagined. The leather was very soft and very well made.

I was looking for a leather vest that was reasonably soft, fits well, and looks good. I got almost all three. This is a nice vest, my only small draw back is that the waist is a bit loose. Given the typical American body shape, this should be no surprise. It fits great around the chest with a loose fitting shirt on. My chest is about 40" and the vest is size large. No problem, I like everything else about this vest, so I will take it to a tailor to get it drawn in at the waist a bit. A cinch tab in the back, or one on each side might be convenient.

I originally bought as part of a costume for an old west party. But wow when it arrived I was amazed at the quality. I'll wear it to the party alright but I'll also wear it for years to come as a handsome clothing accessory.

The vest I purchased for my husband exceeded my desire for a soft, durable, and attractive article of clothing. I am sure he will enjoy it for many years.

I am very pleased with this vest. It fits a tad snug even though I ordered one size larger. The leather and tailoring are first class. I've worn it everyday, since it arrived in a nicely packaged box.

The vest is elegant, lovely to the touch, and fits well. On receipt, I was delighted, and started to wear it regularly. Unfortunately, it is extremely delicate, and I have already torn mine (slightly) at the corner of the front waist pocket. I would have appreciated a warning, as I am used to sturdier leather. Overall, however, this is an extremely satisfactory product. A little reinforcement at the pocket corners would have made it a five star, which rating I give rarely.

This is a really nice vest but I did have some trouble with the bottom two buttons being loose I brought it to a friend of mine and she 're did all of the buttons for me so they wouldn't fall off other then the problem with the buttons the vest is otherwise a great vest very comfortable fits great I plan on wearing this for years to come

I'd always wanted this vest. But, it was out of stock when I looked in to order. Finally it became available and their customer service sent me a note telling me. I called to order and the gent who answered the phone was very helpful. The vest arrived, clean and on a hangar (!) in matter of 7 days sent from San Jose to New York City. I am very pleased. The leather is soft, pliable and the interior pocket is well done, not cheap and sewn beautifully. I wore it immediately to an appointment with a man who also admires vests and he remarked how sharp it was. I thank you all. Quality stuff sent with alacrity. Bravo!

Size 46 was to tight but the 46L coat was a great fit, I sent the vest back for one size bigger. The leather vest are great looking.

Having already bought the black equivilent of this vest which I was very happy with, I was a little disappointed with the the black cherry one as the color was rather blotchy. However, rather than send it back all the way from Aust, I decided to keep it, as it passes off as a well-worn antique vest.

Truly like the vest and purchase. I wear as a compliment to any shirt and sport jacket. Even in summer months, I can wear when there is a breeze and cooler. Have received many compliments. Very nice vest very close to the vest that were worn by John Wayne in many of his movies with 4 pockets on the front of the vest on both sides. This vest was out of stock for a very long. I wore it for the first time and received plenty of complements. it was well worth the weight

Having a video-shoot of our Cowboy Action Shooters for a regional Television Show coming up, I thought I'd like to look even more authentic. I searched, seemingly everywhere for a Western style vest, both locally and online...to no avail. I finally found this "Historical Emporium" website. They showed this vest and it looked perfect...at least in the picture. When it arrived (right on time), it actually did turn out to be perfect! The fit was exactly right and the quality and color couldn't have been better. It worked right in with the rest of my attire to a tee! The video-shoot went great and all of our cowboys looked the part. I could not have been more pleased with this vest!

I expected the leather to look richer than it does and the cotton back panel to be lighter in color. Both appear that way in the picture on your website but not on the actual garment. My goal was to buy a vest that replicated the one John Wayne wore in the movie Chisum. On your website, this one looked exactly like it; in reality, it comes close but it's not a true match. Still, the item will suit my purpose all right but I was just a little disappointed with the overall look of it when it arrived.

Pictures don't do this vest justice. I'm extremely pleased with it. Whether I'm wearing it to a western themed event like I did last night or just sitting in my living room chair reading the vest is an authentic and comfortable addition to my jeans and boots. The vest is well made and the leather is an excellent grade. I highly recommend this vest to anyone who enjoys true western fashion.

The vest fits good and I really like the color, but the buttons are a problem. I have had Scully leather vests before and they seem to have this inherant problem with the buttons, the thread comes undone and the buttons will fall off. This time the first time I wore it the button almost came off. I had to go to a seamstress and have all the buttons re-inforced.

I was very pleased & excited when I received the lamb leather vest. The quality is excellent & the color was accurate as shown on the website. The buttons are tight on the vest. If I need other items from historical emporium I will not hesitate.

Great looking vest, good fit, only problem was: worn once and a button came off, put that button back on, second wearing another button needed sewing back on. Looks like I will need to have all the buttons done before I can wear it again.

I was very impressed with this vest. Very dressy, suitable for wearing with a suit or sport jacket. The color was absolutely perfectly matched all throughout the construction. It is thin and very light weight so it is not for cold weather protection or to wear on a horse. Love it and looks great. Be sure to get the long because it adds an inch to the length and I am 5 feet 11 inches. Price is about right for the quality of the vest.

Like the Vest but there is a hole in the the pocket on the left side if i put any thing in the pocket it inside the lining I wish there wasn't..But i like the Vest...

This is a great western vest with soft leather and distinctive silver snaps. As for the fit, I think it runs a little large. This is good to know, if you are a true Large, order the large not the XL. JP

This product was one of the worst items I have bought. The Vest has lost most of the buttons and when put back on they still continue to fall off because of the buttoms themselves. They have such sharp edges that they cut the material used and fall off again. The vest is now full of needle marks after having to redo the buttoms so mamy times.
