Fits well, but I am looking for an all-wool morning coat.

I needed a new coat to finish off my outfit for a special event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dickens on the Strand this year. This cutaway morning coat fit well, has classic style, and was just what I was looking for to feel like a gentleman for the evening.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I'd never ordered from historical emporium. This coat is beautiful and I will definitely be using this company for more of my costuming needs. I received the order very quickly and am very pleased with the purchase. The coat has excellent quality!

Fairly expensive for a cotton/poly coat, but it looks pretty good. We will see how it holds up over time.

Right from the box, my new coat looked great, and exactly like what I wanted. As I tried it on, it actually fit perfectly. It's going to be hard to wait till the Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes to wear it, but I'll try... I would recommend this coat to anyone interested in stepping back in time for Events.

I ordered this cutaway coat in Charcoal because they did not have my size (50) in Black. When the coat arrived, I tried it on and found that the coat was too large. I sent it back and exchanged it for a 48, and this time in black since they had that in stock. It arrived today and am happy to say that the fit is wonderful.

Received the coat and tried it on immediately and noticed how light it was, which was a very big plus for the temperatures that we find on the middle Gulf Coast of Texas. The sleeves were about 6 inches too long, but that was good since the wife can sew (I can too, but only when I have to) and she could fit it to my arm length. Very happy with the coat so far and see no issues at this time!

We were using this jacket as a costume piece for a show. It arrived in record time which was great. We also needed an extra large size which wasn't easy to find anywhere else. The sleeves needed hemming but that 's ok better than too short. The coat was well made and can be kept for future endeavors. It looked amazing and really added to the character.

If you got your measurements done well this coat is a wonderful fit. I did some research on how the coat should drape on the person, and this rests really well on me. I am below average height for a Caucasian male in between 5'5" and 5'6". The morning coat is longer than is traditional due to my shorter stature, but I don't mind that at all. It looks like it was tailored just for you if the measurements were done right.

I am in a garage rock band, all of us 55+ years old, and we are beginning to play some larger gigs. I needed something to provide a little more stage presence, so I shopped around and ended up buying this coat. Fits perfectly, perfect look over a T-shirt with black jeans; gave me exactly the look I was after - - not over the top, but unique and a little classy. The quality of the fabric and the craftsmanship is much better than I expected - - much better than some blazers I have spent much more money for. This coat is good enough quality that I would wear to a formal party. A good purchase!

I waited two years to buy this coat and when I slipped in on for the first time I was immediately in awe over the feel of the fabric as it draped around my body. The quality of this coat has no equal. I still need to take the coat to a tailor to make the coat form fitting but this coat demands attention as is.

We attended a Murder Mystery Weekend set in 1890 and I wanted a coat for the occasion. The size was perfect and I really liked the styling. It took me less than five minutes on the website to find what I needed and order it.

Nice coat and had that period look and feel. A good fit for the actor I was building a period costume for who was leaving for a film shoot in Austria. The only problem I found was that the p coat buttonholes are too small for buttons. Very difficult to open and close. Since, the actor will be leaving the coat open the problem did not have to be remedied.

I love the coat. I had to take it to the tailor and have the sleeves take up but otherwise it’s perfect.

This Livingston cutaway sack coat is a very well made coat with an all round tailor-made look & fit's me well the sizing was spot on to my size that i ordered. This is an excellent addition to my Old West wardrobe & highly recommended as a purchase.

The Livingston cutaway sack coat is a VERY NICE coat for the money . It runs true to my standard suit coat sizing and fit me perfectly . The only problem i had was that the top button hole was sewn too small for the button . Easy fix for me so i just handled that problem in house.

The product came in good condition, and it was very sturdy and well made. It was just a TINY bit stiff when we took it out, so trying to get it into a more natural shape to put on our actor was a little tricky indeed. Everything arrived on time for our event with the expedited shipping and the quality of the suit jacket and vest and tie were excellent! The pants were not the correct size , so I think on the next order we would check more closely on the style and the sizing of trousers .Overall very satisfied with this company and it's products. An absolutely delightful coat, very well made, and good fit. The tails go down to the back of the knees on me -- 5'7" female in an XL. Sleeves are a little long, but expected for the time period.

I am not the usual skinny person who can buy a medium or large of anything and have it fit them. I've had some trial and error trying to find a tailcoat for a vampire event. I ordered using the size chart based on my shoulder and chest size and the jacket fits perfectly. Very happy with the fit as well as the quality.

Originally got the 40 R , I usually wear an AMERICAN 40 R suit . The 40 R tuxedo jacket might have worked but the pants were a bit tight. Went with the 42 regular and both fits were very good. The quality of the suit was very good, as most other reviews stated. I am very pleased with the tuxedo, especially for the price. Exchange of suits no problem

This Tux is excellent quality. It retails at other places for over $350 making this and extremely good deal. It is also sized as described and is very comfortable to wear. This outfit will be getting a lot of use.

I was very disappointed with the tuxedo coat as one of the buttons on one side had almost completely dropped off and two others below it were very loose. I had to take it to a local tailors for repair.

This is such a great tux at a steal of a price. It will look great at my wedding and at any concert I conduct or perform in. The blue paisley pattern on the inside of the jacket is a darker blue than pictured, which to me is a plus.

My Grandson was overjoyed and commented when he puts it together with the top hat, cane, timepiece and monicle he will be "screeming". The quality and packaging for shipment was first class. This coat is for a production of Pride and Prejudice for the character of Mr. Darcy. It makes him look very elegant!

This coat arrived in the mail after an incredibly long wait, and found it a little bit of a letdown. The sleeves are huge, so long that my hands got lost in them and I had to have them taken up (which cost extra money). This is normal for me with coats and trousers but these were even longer than usual. The collar and sleeves definitely aren't velvet. They don't have any two-tone shine to them. It's morel like a suede or felty material that just eats up dust and lint. One of the lapels wasn't folded right, it stuck out awkwardly and I had to iron it into shape to match the other side. All of these take at least a star off, as it's a bit of a fixer upper, more so than usual. Apart from that though, it's alright. It has a very nice look, it's ornate and incredibly dapper. The inside pockets are nice to have, even if they're pretty small. I think the normal black one would do just as well. There is no velvet in this whatsoever.

This formal tailcoat, cut in the Victorian style, is crafted from gorgeous material with beautiful lines. The effect it has far exceeds its modest price, and I would feel comfortable wearing these tails to even the most formal of events - it is obviously well-suited to white tie affairs. This offering from the Historical Emporium is especially appreciated as many luxury retailers no longer stock tailcoats at all. As others have noted the cut is, perhaps, on the generous side, which does cause some flaring of the cutout at the midriff. If one is on the cusp between sizes, I would recommend going one size lower. Considering how great the price for this coat is, however, one could easily afford the services of a tailor to have it fitted.

I was impressed with the quality of the fabric, however I had to have it tailored as it fit nicely across my chest and shoulders but was far too big around the midriff. It appears these are made with big bellied men in mind.

I ordered a costume for a Victorian Halloween party from Historical Emporium. The downside - it was a bit pricey - the upside: TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! The clothes were well made - certainly in line with the pricing. The fit was great. I'm on the larger side of the spectrum and used their fitting chart. Everything fit well and I felt really comfortable. The pants were very long and had to be hemmed so give yourself time for that - but I would much rather they be too long than too short. Everything came on or before the expected date, was nicely packaged and it all worked out beautifully! This truly is a handsome jacket. Love the fact that is 100% wool. My husband was pleased that the arms were available in a long. It fit him very well. I always hesitate to order clothing for him online because of his longer arms but this worked. Just wished you offered a pair of wool pants to go with it....

I was truly surprised by the quality of the tailcoat. It fit wonderfully, appears well tailored, and went perfectly with the other accessories I had purchased. Only wish I had purchased the top hat to go with it! Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

The suit looks good but the pants are made of very thin fabric. Very difficult to work with and get the measured length. Not great for the money. A bit disappointed.

I received my tux earlier than expected (AWESOME) Fit is perfect as usual. I put on the vest and low and behold marks pencil I believe. Looks as if a pencil was dragged across parts of the vest to makk button placement. On the white vest . This is my only complaint. Hopefully cleaners can remove whilehaving trousers taken up .

We ordered this, and a vest, for a Halloween Costume. The Tailcoat was in NC from CA, within 3 days, and the Vest, which was special order was here ahead of schedule. I needed support for figuring out sizing, as my husband didn't exactly fit the sizing guide. Both items fit perfectly. I was very pleased and will probably order again in the future.

Numerous positive compliments when I wore this to the Fizziweg (young Scrooge's former boss) Ball. Perfect for "Regency" period attire or creating that "Mr. Darcy" look. Paired with a red Buckingham vest. Large is equivalent to a size 44. Excellent fit and drape. Wore again to the Snowball the following weekend. After wearing one more time will beat the cost of renting locally an item from the wrong period.

My husband is 5'4' and slim; usually wears slim-fit suits. We went by your size chart and ordered a medium, but it was huge on him, so we exchanged it for a small, your smallest men's size in this coat. It's still loose on him, but since there is no smaller size, we are keeping it and heading out to our trusty tailor to shorten the sleeves and take in the back and shoulders. It will look quite stunning on him when all is done!
