I was amazed at how well this hat was built worth the price of admission

I have always wanted a Top Hat. I purchased the Wahmaker Highland Frock Coat and have worn it to Court (I'm a lawyer). When it came time for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Court House, I knew I had to wear my frock coat, but wanted a quality Top Hat that didn't look cheap. I ordered the Victorian Top Hat, the quality is amazing. The hat looks very nice and I intend to wear it occasionally come Winter. If you are needing a hat for a Victorian impression, I highly recommend this hat.

I'd been wanting a top hat for many years. I kept looking for one at hat shops - most don't carry top hats - and when I would find one, they never had them in my size, the shape seemed off or the quality was really not up to par. This hat fit as advertised, and was very comfortable to wear. In fact, wore it for an evening of Victorian era dancing and received many compliments.

I am looking for any hats that can look good while conducting Masonic Lodge. This had does not meet the standards. I thought it would, but it is too over the top. This can only be seen in person as opposed to internet. The shorter Top hats I got in exchange are working so much better.

Great Price and fits great. I have not worn this hat to an event yet however I can already tell you that I love this hat over the Coachman's that I have previously purchased couple of months ago. Coachman's hat feels cheaply made compared to the John Bull which is Ironic when you compare the prices.

The hat came quickly, the size was appropriate. The shape around the hat band is a tad strange, but I believe with some wear and sweat it will mold to the head. I am a magician and I will be using this hat extremely often and am pleased with the purchase.

I scoured the web and known hat suppliers but was only able to find a 'white' top hat that was a costume piece, take over a month to ship or require custom ordering. HE had what I needed in stock and after wearing it, is certainly the quality I had hoped for.

I wear a black top hat during the cooler months but during the summer I want to wear white and seersucker suits, so wanted a white top hat. This is very well made and beautiful. I stuff the crown with baby stuffed rabbits so that I can surprise the children that come through the door. (And more than a few of the adults).

I love this hat! It was the perfect birthday present for my brother. Every detail is there, and it came less than 24 hours after I purchased it. It is tall enough to suit my needs and every detail is high quality. Good for an Abraham Lincoln costume but also fine as a regular top hat.

This hat is excellent in appearance, and very well constructed. It is ideal for a tall man as its height is proportionate for a tall person. My head size is a bit larger than the Large size but not large enough for Extra Large so I used a hat jack to stretch it a bit. It fits perfectly! I wore it for the first time at my installation as Worshipful Master of my Masonic Lodge and it was a hit! I shall wear it at all meetings of my lodge, as the Master is supposed to do.

I was on the fence between this top hat and the Victorian top hat, but chose this one due to the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the craftsmanship of the hat and how it looks. I will be wearing it this week for a bicentennial celebration. Only complaint is that it is a little loose, but knowing how the sizing works I'd prefer it to be a little loose than a little snug :)

When I got the e-mail from Historical Emporium with the adv for the Lincoln Tall Crown Top Hat, I knew I had to have one. I actually bought one for myself and one for my son who is a great fan of Abe Lincoln, and teaches history in middle school here. The hats arrived promptly. Both fit perfectly. They are tall, stiff, very black, and quite eye-catching. This is an incredible hat which will go perfectly with my HE cut-away coat.

It is, indeed, a Top Hat. It is well made and fills a much needed niche in any Reenactor/Actor's hat collection. I have one of the original screen worn high toppers made in Rome, Italy for the film Gangs of New York in my collection, and this one is close in quality, and at a much more affordable price. Repros made by the same Italian firm run upwards of $300+shipping to the US. I have wanted one I can wear for day-to-day shows and I'm not about to wear my collector's item for that! This hat fits the bill nicely. It is made of a nice sturdy wool with enough lacquer to keep it looking nice even after it has been shot off your head a few times , or sat on at a cotillion. The straw is tightly and finely hand woven Panama Hat from Ecuador. The price is very reasonable. I have a Panama Fedora for which I paid over $200 six years ago and this is comparable in quality. I'll be using it for my musical stage performances in Columbia, CA this next month and for years to come. For the hot weather you can't beat a Panama. With moderate care, they last forever. I wanted a topper that was a little lower in height and this fits the bill perfectly. I really like this hat!

Good straw, well woven, shape is not a top hat however. The hat leansvincand the top is not flat. Having to have it blocked. The stretch elastic fashion band was ridiculous. Changing it to a Petersham.

It was exactly what I was wanting! I've looked at some other ones in stores, this one is so much better finished, even got some envious looks from passer's by in Tombstone, where everyone likes to play dress-up.

Quality is most excellent! It is rather round while my head is more oblong but size is pretty true and I may have it steam-shaped atthe local Cowboy Shop. Would buy again.

Very nice hat, however it seems made for a very round head shape. Ny head is more of a long oval so hat was tight fore and aft but loose side to side. I did get it to fit better with a little work. Just be aware, the proper size may not fit perfectly right out of the box. Well worth the time to make it fit.

The John Bull top hat is a great product and fits the era wonderfully. I measured as instructed and ordered the indicated size. The hat I received was slightly large but serviceable. If you want to exchange any item with Historical Emporium you will have no problem but the added shipping costs will double the purchase price of your items!

even though i measured my hat size correctly and have ordered a previous hat and it fit perfect, this one does not run true to its size. i was dissapointed that it was too large out of no fault of my own. the size that this hat states is not accurate and I'm stuck with a hat that does not fit due to the restrictions of the return policy. nice hat but the sizes are off. very dissapointing.

Size was not very close to what was advertised, and on the label. Hat was misshapen, this for a $95 hat, even if it was made in China.

The hat is very elegant. Got lots of complements. Looks good with steampunk goggles on them. However, the hat is not oval (head-shaped) enough. On my head, it binds at the front and back -- which is sort-of good since it has gaps on the left and right, and only only the front/back pressure is holding it on. Even so, it rocks back-and-forth, left-right as my head tilts.

This hat (like most products I find on here) is durable, yet elegant. It's reinforced quite well to retain its shape including the slight "bell" shape the brim has. It's not a bad price as well. I'd recommend it.

Hat size was a little bit bigger than expected. It was much fatter (side to side) than a normal hat, and much shorter (front to back). It fits on my head, but tents to tilt side to side. I expect I could reshape it, but haven't tried to do so yet, so don't know how that would work.
