Fits perfectly. Purchased a size 36. If your tall like me, you're gonna love these steampunk pants. If you're shorter, plan on taking them to a tailor. But the quality is worth it!

I mention the Duke only because I was re-watching Rio Grande and saw this very style being worn by all the Army personnel. The quality is so good that I wish I could wear these everyday, much more sturdy even than my blue jeans I have. These trousers were purchased for my Airship Pirate Doctor, excellent for sailing the open airways.

My husband is a volunteer interpreter at the Tinsley House at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana. Our dress is supposed to depict the 1890' s homesteading era These pants to are just perfect. He is demonstrating the weaving looms and needed a look a bit more tailored than others who work in the gardens or the blacksmith shop. Stop by and visit the Tinsley House and farm. Had to return the first pair, my body shape required a different size than the size chart suggested. No problem, replacement arrived very quickly. My seamstress custom fit them to me, she was quite impressed with material and construction. They do have a very long rise, but drape well and look good while wearing them.

Title says it, the pants are AWESOME. Well made, durable, and beautiful. But be warned size up! If you have order historical emporium pants in the past and they fit got up an additional size for these.

Perfect choice to go with the sable frock coat. Good construction, but the button fly is tight and must be broken in. Soft cotton fabric with enough bulk to stay warm even on cold winter mornings.

Pants are very high quality and are built well. Waist is a bit small, so I would recommend going one size up with waist. everything else was perfect.

I bought a pair in black a few years ago for Civil War reenacting and loved them so much that a few years later I bought a pair in brown for Wild West reenacting. The legs are long enough that I was able to take the left over fabric and make a second back pocket. These are high-waisted pants, so order based on the diameter just below your belly-button, not your hips. Also note that there aren't any belt loops (belt loops weren't invented until just after WW1) so plan to wear suspenders or use the adjustment tab in the back. I use both. The fabric is a durable canvas, and the legs are loose enough that you won't get hot in them. Button-fly closure and matching buttons for the suspenders. They're a sharp pair of pants, suitable for 1861 or 2022.

I was not disappointed when I received these (and early). They look just like the picture, heavy duty cotton canvas. They are tricky to size as everyone's profile is different. Therefore read all of the sizing instructions and suggestions. I ordered measurements just as recommended and it turned out right for ME. But I don't necessarily think that will work out for everyone. It will depend upon variables in your body shape, probably more than just a measurement or two. Anyway, I am happy with them.

These are very high quality trousers. The only thing that I had to do is remove the label which took about a minute with a seam ripper.

I have spent the last 25 years looking for this pant. It is everything I hoped for. It fits perfectly as long as you follow the suggested measuring guidelines. These pants are made of the highest quality material and will last for many years.

The pants I purchased are heavy duty. They fit perfectly when I used the guidelines suggested for sizing. These are top quality pants made of the highest quality material and duplicate the old west pants I have always loved but could never find in stores. They are great. I cannot say enough good about thses. They are worth every penny spen on them and I plan to order another pair. I have been difficult to fit. These pants are sized exactly as they are listed. I did not have to make any adjustments that you would normally have to figure out for clothing that is sized overseas.

The waist was advertised as being larger due to where they ride so I ordered based on the recommendation size. I could easily fit at least a size smaller. The quality looks good though. Length is a little bit long but I was expecting that based on the website info.

These trousers are a better quality than my work pants. They do run a little large and as advertised will have to have the legs hemmed. Very happy with them!

I love these trousers, theyre very nice quality, and comfortable. Get your waist size and you�ll probably need to hem them. Maybe up one size if youre going to wear really thick shirts. Ive ordered two pairs of these now and my husband has 2 as well and the tweed ones (wish they had those in a 26 waist). These are pretty durable too. I would highly suggest these and other items from this brand as everything has been extremely satisfying.

I made the mistake of ordering a slightly smaller size, but that's on me, not on the pants or on the store. That being said, these feel like high-quality canvas pants. Like most other canvas clothing, it feels very, VERY, tough, and is typically stiff which is normal for canvas. I was surprised that the top button also had an extra button in the waist and there's also buttons for suspenders which is a really nice touch. Overall very nice pants.

Well made and sturdy

I have looked for pants like these for years. They provide the vintage old west look I have always loved. They are built to take the punishment and still look good. I wear the black when I am hunting here in Montana, and I wear the black or tan when going to town. I love the way they fit as well. I am short and heavy but can still find a good fit in these pants These are very comfortable and again cannot say enough good about their durability. The button system at the waist is a dual button to allow for good durability and the fly buttons are placed well. Just a great pair of pants.

Very well-made pants. They have a good look and measure up in every way to their description. I am very dissatisfied with the Company�s returns policy. After following their measurement chart with all honesty, I ordered the recommended size. I had to return them and order the next size up. The cost of returning was close to $20 and another $7.95 for the re-order. Pretty costly mistake when following instructions. It will probably be quite a while if at all, that I order more products while this return policy is still in effect.

These trousers measure up to their advertisement. They have a classic look worn with or without suspenders. They seem to be made as sturdy as any modern day denim that I wear.

These are the best Canvas Trousers you will find. I have worn Historical Emporium's Canvas Work trousers for almost ten years and wear them every day. I will buy more and at 73 will probably not need many more. The material, construction, fit, and finish will make you proud to be wearing them.

I absolutely LOVE to wear these. They are fantastic, and if you do not have them you must PURCHASE THEM IMMEDIATELY! The canvas material is strong but there is plenty of space for your legs. However, these pants sit higher than your waist. Be sure to order a size up for a perfect fit. You may also need to have them hemmed or have to roll up the pant legs. But overall, this is an amazing pair of trousers.

be aware, pants from 1800's sit high and usually ned an extra 2 inches over your modern Levis... good product.. will buy again if i ned another pair

These trousers go well with my black dress coat and vest when I go to the range and shoot guns. The pants are extremely tough and can handle the elements and wear and tear that I put through them on a day of shooting rifles and revolvers at the range.

The trousers are well made, the stitching is excellent. The advertised size 42 was a true 42. The crotch area is very comfortable. The fabric is smooth, substantial but not heavy or stiff.

This is the second time I have ordered the Ferndale Striped Trousers due to their great look and reliable quality. While they are true to size as described on the website, it should be noted that because they are cotton, they do stretch once worn and heated up by the body - similar to how jeans will stretch out once worn several times. These are probably the best pair of pants I've ever owned, I wore a pair for over a year or so before the constant use and abuse wore them out. Wow! These are great! Wore them w/ my Vigilante coat to Church & received lots of compliments. I'm one of those jack of all trades kinda guys. I can weld as well as stitch a seam so I hemmed them with a 1" rolled up cuff for snazzy-ness sakes. Also, ordered a size up like they said to do & what a perfect fit! Now I'm ditching jeans as work pants & ordering the canvas version of these. They're that comfortable & well made :)

FRONTIER CLASSICS is who made these pants. They sew their name tag on the OUTSIDE above the rear pocket. WHY would I buy a pair of pants from another time period and want to have a MODERN ADVERTIZING Patch showing????? The makers need to sew the patch on the INSIDE on the waist band where it doesn't show or have to be REMOVED before they can be worn and used in a recreation of the dress in that time period. They also run a little LARGE for the measurement. Otherwise, they appear to be well made and serviceable.

I like the quality, fit and weight of the material very much. I operate a very fast paced, busy hot dog cart. I wore these pants and the matching vest in 95 degree weather and it was very workable(especially the trousers). Very happy with this purchase.

My review for the matching vest is pretty much the same for the pants. They fit well and are comfortable. Combined with the vest and spats it give me one of the costumes I use for park/busking magic show.

Once I got the right suspenders, these trousers fit splendidly. They ride high compared to modern fashion, but that design is arguably more comfortable and less constraining than wearing a belt. The length and fit were perfect (I'm 5'11")�no adjustment needed. Prepare to spend time ironing!

I was impressed by the quality of these trousers. They're a functional clothing item made out of thick material and made to last. This is not a cheaply made throw-away costume piece! Note that for me, these trousers ran a little small: a 34-inch waist fit me better than my usual 32-inch. I give these trousers 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the visible brand-tag stitched on the outside, above the seat: such advertising threatens to break the illusion that a period piece like this is intended to create.

I ordered this, and the matching vest, for a festival here in historic Scenery Hill, PA where we celebrated the first 100 years (1785-1885) and yes this was a little later time period but I and everyone loved it. I was the tour guide through the Historic District and many remarked on my clothes. Our Heritage Festival was a hit and this outfit is sure to be used several times a year for other events and festivals in our village.

I bought these for their look with little hope for their comfort. I am pleasantly surprised to find these trousers are comfortable in addition to looking sharp. Because these are built to historical standards and have a higher rise than modern pants, I followed the advice about ordering a size larger than one normally wears. Well, actually I screwed up entirely and ordered 4 sizes larger than I intended, but a quick e-mail to customer service fixed that without any delay. So I am pleased with the trousers and very pleased with the customer service. For anyone who is unfamiliar with ordering trousers like these, you will be taking them to your tailor for hemming. They have a hem, but for an extremely long leg length. This is a feature, not a problem! A tailor will give you just the length and "break" you like for the shoes you will likely be wearing. Pre-set inseam lengths cannot do this as well. The end result is delightful. I wish I could get a version of these with some stretchy fabric incorporated to make dancing a tiny bit easier. That would not be historically accurate, but would be convenient. Please do not think of this as a complaint about these pants. That would be another product. These trousers are marvelous.

I purchased these with the matching vest. The first time I wore the vest, I wore white ducks as these were being hemmed. When I did wear them together, I received numerous compliments, such as, "Smashing!" They are very comfortable and easy to care for. I ordered one size larger, as suggested, and they fit perfectly. Well made! This is my third pair ordered from you and the quality of workmanship and material is excellent. I do notice that no two pairs seem to fit the same way. Each of the three pairs I now have fit - but fit differently. The waist sizes are shown to be the same but they are different when I put them on. I will definitely buy more as I need to - and want to.

I ordered a 36 waist (my normal blue jeans size) and these were more like 34s, disappointing, to say the least, especially since I had to special order the size.

I had purchased clothing from another online shop. When it arrived I was disappointed with my purchase. You get what you pay for. It was not genuine material, buttons popped off, and it was a tight fit.. After that I was worried about my purchase from the Historical Emporium. They mentioned to get a little bit bigger size for these pants (I'm a 34, they suggested a 36). The cost is more than I pay for pants. But these are special made. It was a little wait for delivery, no problem. When they arrived they fit great, lasting material and I couldn't be more pleased. I will be ordering more.

Nice quality pants. Although all their pants apparently need to be hemmed (hence the loss of one star) they are of such nice quality I am considering buying more (now that I know my proper size and hopefully don't have to depend on their customer service replying to my email).

I am 6'6", 250lbs. The size I wear is 38x38. I ordered the 40x36 and the waist was right on and the length fits perfect. Who would of thought these pants would fit since my length is 38. The material is of good quality. I am going to buy me another pair.

I bought these for riding my motorcycle, once I had them tailored for my length. I had lots of left over material, so my tailor made me leg pockets for my wallet and glasses, now I have the ultimate riding pants, outstanding in the comfort level, in the overall fit bang on, with braces the comfort level is upped and above what you want. Did a 9 hour ride on the weekend from inland to the lakes, a lot of people had to stop and put their chaps on because their legs got cold, these pants held off the cold and then even were comfortable when we were into the heat. My pants for my month long bike ride.....thanks so much.....

excellent fitted perfectly just what i wanted

I'm 6'2 and 360lbs, and these fit great, look great (and period correct), and did not shrink in the wash too much. If anything, I might have been able to go down a size (but they'll have plenty of room for winter long underwear). The only PITA was having to hem them, since they come ridiculously long. The fabric is very thick and durable.

The people who said order a couple of sizes up were a godsend. 2-4 sizes larger than you wear is a solid suggestion. I needed more than 2 sizes from my normal; I wear a 34-36 and needed a 40 in my case. Comfy pants, tho! Very comfy. Honestly wouldn't mind having a few pants that fit like these. Also when they tell you to plan on seeing a tailor to get these hemmed, they mean it. Plan to get these hemmed for your height. I had to return my first order to get the correct size, but the return was easy and free of any hassle. Would order again, but given the quality, I probably won't need to replace these any time soon.

These trousers are perfect. The material is heavier than I was expecting, but it's still comfortable on the skin. I was concerned with it being too hot but it's incredibly breathable and cool, probably due to being cotton and not synthetic material. The pockets are enormous, the fit is comfortable, and all the buttons feel durable and secure.

These are very carefully made with excelent seams and sew lines . Obviously made by very attentive hands. Unless you are six foot 5 you will probably have to hem the legs. These are pretty snug for a 38 but they do sit high so if you have a belly go wider. Also they are thick material. Like a heavy dinim so expect them to be warm. Over all these are amazingly nice pants.

Oh for this higher waist style to be in fashion in the 21st century. A heavy fabric that makes for a great silhouette and great fit. Was concerned about weight of fabric on hot summer afternoons, but perfectly comfortable.

I purchased a pair of the Wahmaker Frontier Canvas Pants for everyday wear, work or town you name it. I am extremely happy with the quality, workmanship and materials. I especially like the fact that they are made in the USA! I followed the sizing notes on the website and the fit is perfect. I would definitely recommend these pants.

I bought these to use as work pants I wanted American made and machine washable. These pants by Wahmaker are both. Since they have pockets they are practical for everyday use and comfortable to wear! I am extremely pleased worth every penny. I wear my pants once a week. And I am a blue collar guy so these pants see some wear and tear if you know what I mean.

I bought these as a woman to wear. They are amazing and the quality is wonderful but the buckle in the back has some kind of strange prong closure that makes it stick out and it will not stay flat. It is uncomfortable when sitting or leaning against a hard surface. Not much I can do except change out the buckle for another type since I've already washed the pants. Otherwise very nice.

The Frontier Canvas pants are some great looking trousers whose riveted button fly and suspender buttons make it feel really authentic. The canvas construction gives it a weight and texture you just can't get today.

I ordered these pants for my husband and he is already asking for another pair. He says they are very comfortable and help support his back. I ordered one size up from his normal size and the length was perfect. The bonus is that they are made in the USA!

It may take some getting used to the 19th cent. fit. These are correct and well made. I had to exchange my original pair for a larger size by 3"larger than my actual waist. They sit at the bellybutton, so bare this in mind. Once used to them, with a pair of suspenders, they re comfortable and actually easier on the stomach than modern pants. Highly recommended.

I bought a pair of Wahmaker pants 15 years ago. They still look good. When I decided to buy another pair, I found the store was no longer there. I found your site on line and am pleased to say that the pants were exactly like my first pair. Actually, they are better. I gained weight over the years and the new pants fit a lot better. The quality is excellent and the fit is very comfortable. I look forward to buying more pants in the near future.
