I'm 6'2 and 360lbs, and these fit great, look great (and period correct), and did not shrink in the wash too much. If anything, I might have been able to go down a size (but they'll have plenty of room for winter long underwear). The only PITA was having to hem them, since they come ridiculously long. The fabric is very thick and durable.

The people who said order a couple of sizes up were a godsend. 2-4 sizes larger than you wear is a solid suggestion. I needed more than 2 sizes from my normal; I wear a 34-36 and needed a 40 in my case. Comfy pants, tho! Very comfy. Honestly wouldn't mind having a few pants that fit like these. Also when they tell you to plan on seeing a tailor to get these hemmed, they mean it. Plan to get these hemmed for your height. I had to return my first order to get the correct size, but the return was easy and free of any hassle. Would order again, but given the quality, I probably won't need to replace these any time soon.

The only negative thing is they come in standard inseam length of 36�. Please offer other inseam sizes.

These trousers are perfect. The material is heavier than I was expecting, but it's still comfortable on the skin. I was concerned with it being too hot but it's incredibly breathable and cool, probably due to being cotton and not synthetic material. The pockets are enormous, the fit is comfortable, and all the buttons feel durable and secure.

These are very carefully made with excelent seams and sew lines . Obviously made by very attentive hands. Unless you are six foot 5 you will probably have to hem the legs. These are pretty snug for a 38 but they do sit high so if you have a belly go wider. Also they are thick material. Like a heavy dinim so expect them to be warm. Over all these are amazingly nice pants.

Oh for this higher waist style to be in fashion in the 21st century. A heavy fabric that makes for a great silhouette and great fit. Was concerned about weight of fabric on hot summer afternoons, but perfectly comfortable.

I mention the Duke only because I was re-watching Rio Grande and saw this very style being worn by all the Army personnel. The quality is so good that I wish I could wear these everyday, much more sturdy even than my blue jeans I have. These trousers were purchased for my Airship Pirate Doctor, excellent for sailing the open airways.

Our dress is supposed to depict the 1890' s homesteading era These pants to are just perfect. He is demonstrating the weaving looms and needed a look a bit more tailored than others who work in the gardens or the blacksmith shop. Stop by and visit the Tinsley House and farm. Had to return the first pair, my body shape required a different size than the size chart suggested. No problem, replacement arrived very quickly. My seamstress custom fit them to me, she was quite impressed with material and construction. They do have a very long rise, but drape well and look good while wearing them.

I have nothing bad to say about these trousers, they just weren't my taste. They're just too thick and heavy for my personal taste. There is an endless number of what I describe as 'little red dots' within the herringbone pattern. You can't see them in the photo on your web site, but when I saw them I was instantly turned off by them. I am a loyal, dedicated customer and have never before these trousers ever been disappointed, it's NOT "Historical Emporium", it's just specifically that pair of trousers, that's all, no big deal. You guys are still awesome! I asked for an exchange for the Brown 'Grady Striped" trousers that I've had my eye on. I'm hoping that I'll like them when they arrive. The "Sable, brushed cotton trousers, vest, and frock coat are all on my radar... stand by, ok?

I am very impressed by the construction of these trousers. Very well made. They are exactly what I had hoped they would be. For some reason, they were a little too large (I measured my waist carefully) but I had them altered and they fit like a glove, so comfortable I don't want to take them off. Definitely 5 stars!

My husband bought these for cowboy action shooting. They needed to be hemmed (as always) but they fit really well and he said they are comfortable to wear all day moving around. These have a skinnier fit than other styles.

The trousers are well made, the stitching is excellent. The advertised size 42 was a true 42. The crotch area is very comfortable. The fabric is smooth, substantial but not heavy or stiff.

This is the second time I have ordered the Ferndale Striped Trousers due to their great look and reliable quality. While they are true to size as described on the website, it should be noted that because they are cotton, they do stretch once worn and heated up by the body - similar to how jeans will stretch out once worn several times. I highly recommend these durable trousers.

These are probably the best pair of pants I've ever owned, I wore a pair for over a year or so before the constant use and abuse wore them out. The fit was great, I'm always nervous when buying mail order. This is the second pair of trousers I have bought from Historical Emporium, I'm sure it won't be the last. These 19th century western trousers fit well and look great! But the standard 36 inch inseam is in need of cutting back to 28 inches or so. We're not all 6'6"!

I have been wearing heavy canvas pants with suspenders for 10 years while operating a historically accurate canal boat. Heat and the bulk of the pants have made them unbearable. My new lightweight cotton period pants have allowed for easier movement and less suffering from the heat.

These trousers are perfect for our upcoming production of "Newsies!" They fit well and are perfect for the end of the Victorian period.

I bought these for my husband's cosplay of Rick O'Connell from the Mummy. These trousers are perfect! I wonder if they're what Brendan Fraser really wore. The only difference is that these have buttons for suspenders and no belt loops. The pants are durable and heavy and seem like they'll last a long time. I have to hem them to fit my husband's height and I will use the extra fabric to make belt loops (and the belt will cover the suspender buttons). He has another pair of trousers from Historical Emporium that he uses for his Captain Mal Reynolds cosplay so I knew we'd get great quality again with these!

Their sizes run large, so do not add on.

Pants are very high quality and are built well. Waist is a bit small, so I would recommend going one size up with waist. everything else was perfect.

I bought a pair in black a few years ago for Civil War reenacting and loved them so much that a few years later I bought a pair in brown for Wild West reenacting. The legs are long enough that I was able to take the left over fabric and make a second back pocket. These are high-waisted pants, so order based on the diameter just below your belly-button, not your hips. Also note that there aren't any belt loops (belt loops weren't invented until just after WW1) so plan to wear suspenders or use the adjustment tab in the back. I use both. The fabric is a durable canvas, and the legs are loose enough that you won't get hot in them. Button-fly closure and matching buttons for the suspenders. They're a sharp pair of pants, suitable for 1861 or 2022.

I was not disappointed when I received these (and early). They look just like the picture, heavy duty cotton canvas. They are tricky to size as everyone's profile is different. Therefore read all of the sizing instructions and suggestions. I ordered measurements just as recommended and it turned out right for ME. But I don't necessarily think that will work out for everyone. It will depend upon variables in your body shape, probably more than just a measurement or two. Anyway, I am happy with them.

These are very high quality trousers. The only thing that I had to do is remove the label which took about a minute with a seam ripper.

I have spent the last 25 years looking for this pant. It is everything I hoped for. It fits perfectly as long as you follow the suggested measuring guidelines. These pants are made of the highest quality material and will last for many years.

The pants I purchased are heavy duty. They fit perfectly when I used the guidelines suggested for sizing. These are top quality pants made of the highest quality material and duplicate the old west pants I have always loved but could never find in stores. They are great. I cannot say enough good about thses. They are worth every penny spen on them and I plan to order another pair. I have been difficult to fit. These pants are sized exactly as they are listed. I did not have to make any adjustments that you would normally have to figure out for clothing that is sized overseas.

The waist was advertised as being larger due to where they ride so I ordered based on the recommendation size. I could easily fit at least a size smaller. The quality looks good though. Length is a little bit long but I was expecting that based on the website info.

These trousers are a better quality than my work pants. They do run a little large and as advertised will have to have the legs hemmed. Very happy with them!

Description indicated 100%cotton. It truly is, and extremely heavy and durable. I bought a size up as suggested and it fit a bit loose. I did wash and dry and the looseness is gone. I’m quite surprised with this pant. I’ll wear it out for fun with a white shirt so it looks good and snappy. I intend to buy the other two colors. I’m happy to find a button fly to make them unique. Good go Historical Emporium!

I love these trousers, theyre very nice quality, and comfortable. Get your waist size and you’ll probably need to hem them. Maybe up one size if youre going to wear really thick shirts. Ive ordered two pairs of these now and my husband has 2 as well and the tweed ones (wish they had those in a 26 waist). These are pretty durable too. I would highly suggest these and other items from this brand as everything has been extremely satisfying.

I made the mistake of ordering a slightly smaller size, but that's on me, not on the pants or on the store. That being said, these feel like high-quality canvas pants. Like most other canvas clothing, it feels very, VERY, tough, and is typically stiff which is normal for canvas. I was surprised that the top button also had an extra button in the waist and there's also buttons for suspenders which is a really nice touch. Overall very nice pants.

Well made and sturdy

I have looked for pants like these for years. They provide the vintage old west look I have always loved. They are built to take the punishment and still look good. I wear the black when I am hunting here in Montana, and I wear the black or tan when going to town. I love the way they fit as well. I am short and heavy but can still find a good fit in these pants These are very comfortable and again cannot say enough good about their durability. The button system at the waist is a dual button to allow for good durability and the fly buttons are placed well. Just a great pair of pants.

Very well-made pants. They have a good look and measure up in every way to their description. I am very dissatisfied with the Company’s returns policy. After following their measurement chart with all honesty, I ordered the recommended size. I had to return them and order the next size up. The cost of returning was close to $20 and another $7.95 for the re-order. Pretty costly mistake when following instructions. It will probably be quite a while if at all, that I order more products while this return policy is still in effect.

These trousers measure up to their advertisement. They have a classic look worn with or without suspenders. They seem to be made as sturdy as any modern day denim that I wear.

These are the best Canvas Trousers you will find. I have worn Historical Emporium's Canvas Work trousers for almost ten years and wear them every day. I will buy more and at 73 will probably not need many more. The material, construction, fit, and finish will make you proud to be wearing them.

These pants are great for a historical wardrobe, they are comfortable and historically accurate. A bit baggy around the calves, which could maybe be tightened a bit, but that is a matter of taste.

These trousers are everything!!! Exactly what I was looking for. Perfect fit, I just had to have my tailor hem the length, as they all come with 36" inseam. Well worth the money for a perfectly tailored and unique pair of trousers.

The fabric stretches a bit which made them feel about 2 inches roomier in the waist than the same size Wahmaker, Livingston, Dorian, or Sable Trousers. These do itch a little bit but that goes with the fabric type. The extra lining helps with that. Stitches ripped open on the waist adjuster and outer seams of the front pockets after about 5-6 wears. Took me a couple minutes to fix with a sewing machine and could easily be done by hand. I really liked these after doing so. They'll last a good while. To me they're worth the price.

the pants surprised me by being very light weight.. apparently i didn't fully read .. or they weren't described as such.... they do run smaller and rereading you need to measure your mid belly to get the right fit .. you cannot go by waist size and it does in fact say that in measuring for them SO pay attention..

I absolutely have fallen in love with these Khaki trousers. I have integrated them into my daily wardrobe, and for my body type (medium/large - "Husky" build), suspenders and trousers like these are a perfect fit. I've paired these trousers with a brown leather shoes, a light brown tweed vest, and a light blue collared shirt that has a cream and white check pattern in it for a timeless, dapper look. I would love to immediately buy 3-4 more pairs of these and add them to my wardrobe, however my size (40) is out of stock, with no replenishment date set by the manufacturer at this time. You better believe I'll be checking back for these on a regular basis so that I can buy some. In the meantime, I'm considering going to a local tailor and having a couple of pairs of Chinos made that feature the high waist, and the suspender buttons that are featured in these trousers. These are absolutely fantastic.

I am always impressed by the quality of Historical Emporium's clothing. These trousers and are a nice weight, but not too heavy to be hot in warm temps. Nice pants but they run small!

In 2016 I weighed 468 pounds, had a 60 inch waist and a 64" chest. I went on a diet and lost 200 pounds. I put on my old pants and they fell to the ground. I followed the instructions and ordered thees wunnerful pants one size greater than what I now wear. The 46 waist is very nice. I must shorten the legs inseam to 31". The pocket placement is perfect for me. Vertical on the front and deeeeep!

No complaints, only a suggestion- inseam hemming service would be icing on the cake.

Well made trousers, good quality fabric, but the size we ordered was too big. We returned & re-ordered a smaller size.

These pants are perfect khakis for a gentleman like myself. The pants have a classic rise that comes to the navel and a fish back. The pockets are lined in the khaki canvas. If you are a slimmer gentleman like myself you will want to order in the same size (or even a size smaller) than your typical pants as these sit at the stomach and not at the hips like modern fashion pants.

These trousers are sturdy and look the part. They are also quite comfortable. The only downside is the buckle in the back, which is flimsy and fell apart after five minutes. As for sizing, I would recommend measuring your waist instead of automatically ordering one size up from usual (I should have just ordered my usual size).

These pants are great quality and look very nice on. They are higher in the waist than your average pants and you should definitely do as the comments say when ordering and go a size up. My son is a size 36 and a 38 fits him perfectly. Husband a 30 and 32 fits him. Take those tips seriously!

I needed some 1850's period style clothes for a pioneer trek that we have planned with our church youth group. The pants are one item I ordered. They are well made and made of heavy duty canvas. The color is a brown color. The pants fit well. I ordered one size bigger around the waist because they sit higher than my other pants. They are plenty long and I needed to cut them and hem them. it was an easy process. The pants arrived quickly and fit nicely. With the suspenders they are comfortable. I would highly recommend it. It helps me to feel "old fashion" and pioneer like. Although at my age it may not take too much.

I used these Trousers to wear to a vintage circus party, the Trousers are of good quality, I took the advise from other reviews and went one size larger for a good fit. I think they come in one length so were a bit long in the leg but was not a problem as I also purchased a pair of Black Leather Buckle Gaiters which covered the extra length. No problems with postage to Australia

I am completely satisfied with the canvas field trousers I purchased. The fabric is of good quality and the workmanship is also good. And I do agree that to get a proper fit a good rule of thumb is to specify two sizes above the size worn in modern trouser cuts. I anticipate getting years of use out of this product.

Waist size of these trousers is much smaller by about 2 inches compared to the three previous trousers that I ordered. That means I have to return them. I like the quality of material and workmanship, but the belt buckle on the rear is cheap and flimsy.

Ordered these trousers for my husband's Steampunk costume. They are sturdy and well made. They fit well, and true to size ... which is refreshing given that my husband is a fine figure of a plus size man, and it is difficult at times to find costume clothing to fit. These trousers are great!

I was suprised how comfortalbe these pants are. They are my new favorite pants. I feel good wearing them and get allot of positive complaments. They are a great value for the price too.

Ordered these and they came in the mail pretty quick. If there's only one concern its the buckle catch at the back of the trousers. I've owned another pair like this one and the part of the buckle which locks on to the fabric strap that goes through it didn't appear as flimsy as the one on this pair. It did the job, don't get me wrong. It just looks like a paperclip bent into buckle catch shape than a true buckle. Other than that a true test of the pants' sturdyness was when I fell off a moving bicycle and the pants didn't tear! Awesome! One other word: EXCELLENT Customer Service!! Leslie was kind enough to stop the order I'd placed in error and replaced those pants with these, which were the ones I'd wanted to begin with. Having dealt with other sutlers who basically go "Too bad. You'll just have to ship the wrong stuff back at your expense!" you can't praise someone like Leslie enough!
