These Y-Back suspenders in the natural color (sort of tan) look great with an authentic pair of Edwardian wool fishback trousers.

There was nothing wrong with the quality but i felf they were to large although I am unsure if you can get smaller sizes . They do adjust but stiill to large I thought.

I have worn similar ones before, these appear to be well made however, the pants that came with the tuxedo with tails ordered on this site came with belt loops, an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I used a belt instead.....

This is a little unusual than regular suspenders with the y back. But actually is pretty comfortable.

I've never owned a pair of suspenders before. Frankly, I don't know how I went so long without them. I have a bit of a belly, so belts are uncomfortable and only for special occasions. I bought them to hold up my Reilly Plaid Trousers. They are a comfortable alternative to a belt. They have a wide range of adjustability, and I don't feel like I'm getting squeezed. They fit perfectly on the buttons sewed in to the trousers. The clasps are tight, so I don't have to worry about them migrating throughout the evening.

All the attention to detail, the arm bands, the hat, the tie, and the suspenders, created a perfect historical outfit.

They are great and the delivery was fast and efficient.

Comfortable and plenty of adjustment for even big and tall.

I bought these awhile ago b/c I was looking for black suspenders to go with outfit. They look nice but I found after doing quite a bit of walking my tucked in shirt keeps untucked. To get to the point the elastic y braces where pulling out my shirt and pushing down my drawers. I could be a bit bouncier than most while walking but that's my review on the particular braces. If maybe there was just elastic on back not front they would work better.

Good quality, however only came in a "tall size" which was way to big for my husband.

I am a little reserved with these braces: the fasteners are fragile (I was forced to reinforce one of them with leather because it had torn at first use) and the adjusting flows have to be placed really very high on the torso, almost at the edge of the clavicles.

the brace was of excellent quality. Although, make sure you have pants with the required buttons to hold your braces. but the elastic.

Very low grade leather is used. This would only be useful for a costume; not for wearing normally. I also ordered all leather suspenders and was similarly disappointed.

The Y-Suspenders fits me like a glove it matches my body height 5 feet 6 inches l would recommend to other people.

Following The Sizing Chart, I Ordered The Short Suspenders (I'm 5'7") Now My Trousers Stay Put and They Look Great! The Suspenders Too! Ride On!

These are good braces. I got the shorter ones which work a bit better with high-waisted trousers. It would be ideal, however, if the Emporium carried braces/suspenders specifically designed for high-waisted trousers (e.g. with shorter runner ends etc.)

I really like these suspenders. They are more authentic than the full elastic type. The wide canvas straps are sturdy and the single piece of elastic in the back makes a nice visual contrast as well as authentically giving more comfort than non-elastic suspenders. Not fully on par with other reenactment grade items but great in a pinch and I will be likely using this at battlefield reenactments.

They are great. However, I just noticed that the photo shows a red elastic forming the "trunk" of the "Y" while the suspenders that I got have a white elastic in that place (the branches of the "Y" are red as in the photo).

I purchased these suspenders to go with a trouser order also from the ‘Emporium’. Nice pattern/design and easy to adjust to the right length.I’m approximately 5ft 8ins in height so the short version was ‘spot on’ for me. These have a robust elastic. The hardware is sound. The tabs could be thicker but are easily repaired if they end up giving out.

I love the leather suspenders I purchased. I felt the price was a bit high, but I decided to purchase them instead of spending a lot of time looking for them elsewhere. I got both black, and brown. They fit well, but I needed to add an extra hole on the brown ones (I am 5' 9" tall, and a simple leather punch fixed the issue quickly), the black fit perfectly. It appears that the suspenders came from 2 different makers, I would like to see Historical Emporium offer the brown suspenders from the same maker as the black ones. The quality seems good, and they are comfortable. I look forward to many more purchases from Historical Emporium!

Quality of the leather wasn't what I expected

The actual suspenders are great -I was highly disappointed that only the tabs and back piece are actually leather - and the straps are fake - not what one is led to believe when reading the description - therefore not thrilled Editor's note - The suspenders are made of a thin cut of leather for comfort.

Straps that button to pants could have been better quality/thicker leather.

Quality might be an issue, so carefully examine yours and confirm that the leather has no thin spots that might tear after a few months of use. I found that to be a problem with one of two pairs I've owned. To WE's credit they upheld their Quality Guarantee even though the return period had expired.

I wore these suspenders with an out fit I had all night. The look great (cool accent to my costume) and fit great too thanks to the elastic in the back. Freedom to move, and style too!

Not happy with these. They are too big. They will require having holes punched to shorten. More expense! They need to be offered in smaller sizes. I am not a small guy over 6' tall and still to long. Not a good purchase!

Great suspenders. These are well made and look great. However based on the recommended measurements I ordered XL. They are Way too large. Luckily I am a leather worker so I can make them fit. If you are over 6' or a bigger boy they would probably work quite well.

These, along with the Black Canvas Trousers , were only my second purchase from the Historical Emporium and I am very pleased with the product. I admit that I enjoy them more than the trousers actually. They immediately give the impression of a product that will last forever. Mostly leather, with the lower back portion being thick elastic, they give the wearer a sense of antiquated clothing so strong that they feel so fine walking around in them. Everyone who has seen them on me was stunned by the craftsmanship. I know I was. The brass buckles are what got me the most. The only problem I encountered was expected. They ended up being to large for me, so I had to poke more holes intothem to get a perfect fit, nothing major. Though they arent so snappy in ability, they makeup for it many times over in snappy appearance. I am looking forward to my next purchase.

These suspenders are great. I have already received many compliments on them. I have the black set too but these brown really have a vintage vibe to them. In the hand, they don't look special but paired with some vintage pants and shirt and they look great!

My son is 6'2" and wears a pretty long suspender, but we had to drill new holes in these and are contemplating cutting a bit of the strap off. These are *plenty* long and I have little doubt they would fit a very large man with a very large belly. Small or skinny guys may have to do some adjusting.

The photo shown looks like the suspenders are wider than what I received. I thought according to the photo the suspenders would be an inch and a half wide not the skinny 3/4" wide. Very disappointed.

Surprisingly high-quality, especially for the money. Shipped on time, and arrived when promised.

These are legitimate, tough, real leather braces. They are stiff brand new but a little use and even some leather treatment form them up nicely. They are unique and very stylish in addition to being "bullet-proof." I deducted a star because they very nearly didn't fit. I'm 6'3 and have them near the bottom most loops which created a hoop at the point of attachment to the button gussets which is annoying and unsightly but they are slowly stretching around to be flatter against the abdomen. If you are over 6'3 or have a long torso you might consider a different set.

It says "One size fits most" I would add most basketball players. That said they are well made and very stylish.

These braces offer the ultimate in a refined look. Comfort is not an issue with these braces but for lots of movement they are not on par with canvass braces. The elastic strap on the back brace does add a lot to the comfort.

I bought these for cowboy action shooting, but they are so comfortable I just can't take them off. My girlfriend will have so sew buttons on all my jeans so I can wear them all the time. The service was excellent as well. This was my first purchase but it certainly won't be my last. I have already recommended Historical Emporium to friends.

The suspenders looked and felt great. It is my fault for jumping the gun and ordering them before reading everything more closely. In my black powder club, I can"t wear any thing that was invented after 1840. The elastic strip on the back had a good feeling and looked very good, but elastic was invented after 1840. Loved everything else that I ordered and plan on wearing them a lot.

The suspenders were as advertised, of good quality and of good price.

These suspenders are fantastic! They fit my 5 foot 9 inch frame perfectly and the elastic has just enough give to be very comfortable for all day wear while still keeping my trousers securely in place. The satin material is shiny and smooth, giving a sleek, upper-class look that is a finishing touch on a Black Tie affair or just a casual Victorian Stroll in Saratoga Springs. I love these braces.

At the ripe young age of 42, this is honestly my first serious pair of suspenders (that weren't clip-on and mock-ups of the ones Robin Williams wore on Mork & Mindy). Combined with a proper set of trousers, I felt way too comfortable. I need more of these in my life. These are worn underneath of the waistcoat so nobody really gets to see them... except my wife as I'm taking all of the layers off. And she seems to think they look really fine on me. As far as I'm concerned, that's the final word.

These braces are extremely well made from good quality materials! They pair very well with the Classic Trousers to make an accurate historical ensemble. I wear them during our annual Antique Steam Engine show event and continually get many compliments and inquires on where they can be purchased. Very good product for the money!

These don't come with clips. You need to have pants with buttons on them, either already on them from the manufacturer, or do like I do and just grab a few buttons and a needle and thread. They are good quality, comfortable, and look manly. I got them in black, and might get a second pair in brown, just to mix things up a little. I like to wear them with jeans, they look a little rustic, but with a touch of class. I do enjoy getting dressed up, it's great to look and feel your best, but I also know that daily life and everyday function are necessary. If you buy all this stuff just to keep in a drawer or the back of your closet, what is the point of it? I am glad to have these as part of my wardrobe.

Which is to say there for someone tall for today and very tall for Victorian times. And whats with the elastic? There suposed to be leather.

The quality of the leather and the metal buckles is great. It's a robust design suitable for actual work use and not just costuming. A lot of people noted that they are longer than expected; At 6'1", the fit me fine with using the last hole in the leather (smallest length). A shorter or thinner person might find them too long.

I love the leather and buckle look of these! Unfortunately they were too big - one size does not fit all, and they are not really adjustable beyond the few buckle holes - I'm going to take about 2" off the elastic part in the back to make them work and possibly shorten the leather ends by an inch or two just to avoid lots of extra "tongue" Also one side had more holes than the other, so if you're not careful, you can adjust them lopsided. (my guy wears a Medium size in everything, so he's not exceptionally tiny or thin) Still, it's worth the few adjustments for the classier look of the leather!
