Doing a 1910 feature we found these collars run large. But that’s why you have fittings. They tea dye down easily

Not The Stiff Starched Collar You'd Expect
I was expecting this collar to be a starched stiff collar, which is what I was looking for. It's definitely not. The collar arrives unstarched. Also, the sizing is way off. The size chart shows a size "L" is for a 16"-16.5" neck. I have a 16" neck and ordered the size "L". The collar was very large and would easily fit a 18" neck. The service, from Historical Emporium, was fantastic though. My order shipped extremely fast and was well packaged.

The description and sizing chart that you provide helped me to match the detachable collar to a shirt that I already had in my wardrobe perfectly.

This collar is a nice little accessory. It fits pretty well with the shirts I customized, though it doesn't stay up as much as I had hoped. I was under the impression that the collar would be starched straight, but it worked well nevertheless. Thus far, it's been a pretty nice conversation piece, and it's easy to put on, too. Nicely done, Historical Emporium!

The collar is almost perfect. The size is just right, but there are two things I wish were different.
1. The button holes were too small for the studs I also purchased, so I had to cut them larger, cutting into the threads which protect the hole from tearing. That was nerve-wracking because I was under time pressure and didn't have time to reorder in case I cut too deeply.
2. I wish the collar came starched.

These are lovely collars. They aren't brittle or stiff but they still have some body. I wish we could have ordered them to the 1/2" sizing instead of a range. I have to alter several to fit my shirts.

Perfectly Adapted to Fit the Shirts
This collar came safely wrapped so no creasing occurred. It matches the HE shirts perfectly, only had some minor sizing issues (now solved), but that should resolve as soon as you order from Historical Emporium again, which I will most certainly do! Next time I will know my correct sizing.

Great product. You can starch it or just let it stay relaxed. Very comfortable and I plan on ordering the wing tip and club collar soon.

Very nice collar. But the button holes are too small to use with the banded collar shirt I had planned to use it with. This collar MUST be used with the shirts sold on this site only. What a marketing ploy.

Again, this collar, like the wing tip, waaaaay too big. In order to get correct sleeve length in shirt had to take a neckband that was enormous. Adjusted both the neckband and subsequent collars down to 16 1/2 to fit. Rated a 3 because suggested size doesn't fit. Well constructed collar, though, no complaint with the material nor it's construction.
I had a band collared tux shirt that I wanted to add this collar to, to change the look. Just needed to sew a small button to the back of the shirt to hold it in place. You may also need to carefully cut the button holes on the front of the collar to make it big enough to fit a collar stud through depending on the size of your stud, but they come sewn small so there is a little bit of room to make them bigger without cutting through the button hole stitching if you are careful.

The quality of the collar is fine, but two things to be aware of when ordering:
1. Be careful about sizing. I ordered an XL based on the size charts and it was too big. It ended up working okay with my own shirt and I was able to mask the extra size with a cravat.
2. The button holes in the front of the collar are TINY -- they actually are not "button holes" as no button could ever fit through them. I also tried a different cufflinks and a tux shirt stud, none of which fit through the little holes. The H.E. web site mentions a "collar stud" in passing (not included) but I did not see that or even realize such a thing existed. Luckily I found a stray antique stud that happened to have a retractible back which just barely fit through to keep the collar closed.

Detachable cotton collar-high stand
The detachable cotton collar-high stand was comfortable and of excellent quality. It was a perfect
accessory for my grandson's period-clothing for his portrayal of Scott Joplin.
