The blouse is well-made and finished off nicely on the inside. The fabric is soft but not flimsy, making it comfortable to wear. The I am five-foot-one, so was concerned about the sleeve length and shoulder width, but the blouse fits well, so I won't need to make any alterations to it. The height of the collar is a bit higher than any other blouse I have, but it doesn't touch the bottom of my chin. The bodice is longer than other blouses I usually wear, but since I am going to be tucking it inside my skirt, that isn't going to be a problem. Based on the fabric used and the quality of the finished product, the price is reasonable, compared to other blouses you would buy at a department store. Even though the blouse was special ordered, I received it many days sooner than the promised delivery date.

Not only is this blouse incredibly comfortable, it's absolutely darling without being too much. I bought it for an event, but I wouldn't be surprised to find myself wearing it more often! I wish I could rate the quality of this blouse (which I would give 5 stars because of the materials and construction) separately from the sizing (which had to be exchanged because it was way too large). After exchanging for a smaller size I ended up with a very lovely blouse which I was very happy with.

This was a post-christmas gift for my wife who has noted that she has very few blouses that still look good on her. I got this in an attempt to help in that regard. This Blouse filled the need quite nicely. I wanted something classy for her to wear on any semi-formal occaision that didn't look like she was putting on a costume. Nothing too frillly. I bought this one size higher than I normally would because I saw some comments they tend to run small. That was a smart choice on my part. She did alter the sleve cuffs to move the bottons in closer but other than that, it is a good fit.

I love the blouse. The body fits great. I only have two small issues to address for me personally. The blouse is a little too long but I plan to have that altered. Also, the cuffs are a bit loose and allow the cuffs to cover my hand. I have small wrists and it has nothing to do with the quality of the merchandise. I will have my alterations lady move the buttons over just about one inch and the blouse will be perfect. Please don't consider this a negative because I realize that every size, whether small, medium, large, etc. is meant to fit a wide variety of body types. Many of my clothes need to be altered because I have a short upper body and short arms. Thank you for a well constructed product and fast delivery. I know I will enjoy my blouse for years to come.

Worn with classic honey-colored Edwardian suit. Very comfortable and well made. I always sew in a Velcro spot at the neck seam if anticipating wearing a broach. The invisible spot reinforces the seam placement when holding the extra weight of the broach and prevents gaping.

Nice white blouse with pretty lace detail

This beautiful blouse is lined with the scratchiest sleeve heads (to make the sleeves stand out.) They are so abrasive that they made red welts on my shoulders. Fortunately, I was able to cover the raw edge of the sleeve head with some bias tape. Now the blouse is as comfortable as it is beautiful. The fabric is very good quality and in the workmanship other than the sleeve heads is excellent. The fit is mostly as specified. The cuffs on the sleeves are a bit peculiar in that they are cylindrical in shape rather than tapering toward the wrist. I can set over the buttons to make them look right, but the forearm is not cylindrical in shape and the long cuffs should not be either.

This blouse arrived quickly & was packaged well. It's beautiful & I received many compliments when I wore it as part of my Edwardian outfit in a parade. The only reason I had to give it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the stitching inside the shoulders is very scratchy.

I needed a roomier blouse to wear for walking tours. This blouse, though not "authentic" gives the impression, fits well, and is room enough to enjoy wearing it in hot, active situations.

I wore this blouse for an 1894 costume while attending a Victorian Garden Party. It was perfect. The fit was just as expected. It is well-made. If you need a blouse like this, you can't go wrong getting this one.

I love this shirt! The only drawback is that it is 100% cotton, so it requires ironing. (Good for authenticity; not good for regular wear.) It would be nice if some of the clothing had "easy care" fabric-blend options.

This is a beautiful blouse but the fit was off on me. It gapped at the bust& the shoulders were a smidge too small but the sleeves were too long. Again, a lovely, well made blouse but just didn’t fit my athletic body type which is the ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars & not 5.

I used the provided size guide and found it accurate. This is a lovely blouse, well-made, detailed, and well-finished. High quality, just like everything else I have purchased from Historical Emporium.

This blouse was pretty true to size, but did shrink slightly in the cold water wash, which was great for me. The blouse needs to be a bit more fitted, but a few darts will solve the problem, as wearing a corset gives it much more structure and period authenticity. The blouse would be even greater if it was lined, as the material allows the corset to show, so must wear a corset cover. Overall, I love this blouse!

This blouse is very well done. It fit nicely and will easily adapt to a number of looks.

I was amazed at how beautiful this blouset was. The details and workmanship were just wonderful. There were two problems though. I had to get a 2XL based on the measurement chart. I have never been even close to 2XL in my life. I would probably get the 1XL size for a blouse from Historical Emporium next time I order and I will buy again. But this blouse fits fine. I swear that the sleeves were the length of an orangutan's arms. I had to cut 4-5 inches off of them. Luckily I can sew and the sleeves/cuffs were sewn on in such a manner that the sleeve was easily separated from the cuff, sleeve shortened, and sewed back so that you can not tell that the cuff was ever touched. I am 5'6" and have a normal arm length. I think someone who is shorter than I, but still fits the sizing, will have a much bigger problem. Note that I had the same problem, and will be making this same comment, on the Tabitha outfit. I hope HE can correct this sizing problem. I may not always be able to accommodate the construction changes that will probably be necessary. Good thing I sew well, just to lazy to make my own outfits.

I love the way it looked on me! The sleeves around the wrists are a little too loose for my liking, but it's an easy fix. Apart from that it's a well made shirt and it feels comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Beautiful blouse, fits so good! Great fabric and workmanship. The only cons is pricky material used in shoulder wings which hold puff sleeves. If the makers would manage turn the ends of the netting they used there not to the human size, but to the top side of the sleeve, the blouse would be perfect. I solved the problem adding extra fabric layer over pricky piece and it worked.

I love the blouse. I love the color and the addition of small pleats across front. It wears well and looks lovely. My only concern is when comparing it to my other, same sized blouse purchased from you, this one is not as roomy across the bust line. I imagine the addition of the pleats gathered some of the looseness found in other style.

I have a white blouse from this company in size medium that fits perfectly. I ordered this one in medium as well but it runs larger. If I'd tried it on, I would probably have purchased a small. Also I didn't care for the white trim at the cuffs and collar so I removed it. The blouse is of excellent weight material and well finished and made.

My reenactment involves light hiking so I was afraid to get a pretty white blouse that would show every speck of dirt. I really liked the pinstriped blouse for its crisp appearance and slight formality compared to a colored blouse. I found it ran a little smaller than I expected, possibly because it is shaped more than less tailored blouses. The next size up was perfect. I love the sleeves and the beautifully gathered back yoke. It looks fantastic with the black walking skirt, and goes beautifully with my various silver vintage belt buckles on black cloth belts. I originally chose it because it reminded me of a Victorian-look pinstriped blouse with front ruffles and puffed sleeves that I already owned, but the front ruffles had serger-stitched edges - which just looked wrong. This blouse looks perfect - every bit as good as I hoped for!

Nice shirt, but the material and construction were not up to the same quality of the Margery blouse. This fabric of this shirt is very thin.

Purchased as part of a costume to play the role of a schoolmarm at the historical society. The cloth was soft and substantial. Very much like a shirt I would buy for everyday wear. I do like very much this blouse, except, the sleeve length, I have a M and a L size. I compared the blouses, found the sleeve lengths are the same. I bought the L for two reasons, the sleeve length and the fullness of the body. The fullness of the body is good in the L size. but the length of the sleeve, I needed a 1/2 inches or a bit longer. They fabric is great, and the design goes with several of my costumes. I just thought you would like to know.

I purchased this pinstripe blouse and the matching skirt for an upcoming event in my hometown. The event requires us to have on traditional looking 1850's clothing. This outfit is fashioned perfectly for the time period, very well made and fit true to size. I am so impressed and felt the price was great for the quality I received.

It is a beautiful and well made blouse, however, the size 2X fit perfectly in the bust, but the neck and sleeves were WAY too big/long. So, I ordered an XL. It fit better in the arms and neck, but not at all in the bust. I returned the XL and will need to have alternations made for the 2XL. For now I've pinned the sleeves rather than move the buttons, and took two "tucks" in the neck. Delivery on both orders was excellent, and the return process very easy to follow.

There's not enough words to explain how beautiful this blouse is. Every piece of fabric is 100% durable high quality.

The quality of this blouse is very good. It's a true cream/ivory. The bust size was accurate. I will add that the wrist size is enormous and most will have to take it in on that larger size. A minor bit of sewing skill required to simply move the buttons to size no problem. I do recommend this blouse for reenactments, cosplay, EGL, and if you want to feel fancy!

I got this for my fiancé civil war impression and it turned out great.

I was extremely pleased with this blouse. I got tons of compliments on my costume. I ordered a Large based on my bust measurements - probably could have gotten the Medium, but the fit was good nonetheless.

Needed a more formal blouse to go with a fancy Wash Day bustle skirt I sewed. This fit the bill perfectly. Well made, but fits quite snug in the bust while having almost hilariously long sleeves. Luckily a wash shrunk the cotton enough so that I did not need to alter the sleeves to make wearing feasible. Shoulder area fits per size. Next time I will order up a size. Lace is very pretty, love the ribbon detail on the sleeves, I got lots of compliments and your blouse ended up on the front page of the local paper!

Be very careful when ordering blouses. Each item has its own sizing chart, based on your fullest chest measurement. For those of us who are not the average, the sizing requires that we buy a blouse that is sized much larger than the mainstream clothing brands. As the size of the blouse increases, so do the shoulder, waist and sleeve length. In my case, I usually wear a medium, or perhaps a large blouse, and can have it in petite to fit my 5'4" frame. For this blouse I needed an XL to fit my chest, but then had to hire a seamstress to take up the sleeves and pull in the shoulder seams. My $60 blouse now costs me $90!

I ordered this blouse for a special event in which I had a time deadline. When I received the blouse I was totally in love with the look, the design and the quality. Unfortunately, the size was a problem. I normally always wear a medium in a blouse. This blouse was considerably smaller than the mediums that I have purchased in the past. Due to a deadline, I was unable to return the blouse for a larger size. I opted for a bit of my own tailoring. I let out the front darts and found it wearable. I was so sorry about the fit, otherwise I would have given the blouse 5 stars.

I ordered this blouse for a play I'm in, and the look is Perfect!! The attention to detail (appropriate tucks, long cuffs, etc) is excellent. Shipping was incredibly fast and email communication was great. I am delighted to have found this store - I love having an alternative to the (apologies in advance) - "cheap stuff from C..." that seems to be the only option on Amazon. My only quibble (and it really is just a quibble) - I washed it so that it wouldn't look brand new. It washed fine, no shrinkage or anything... But ironing it... Oh man. It takes a LOT of ironing! Ha, I guess it's been a long time since I owned anything that was pure cotton, I'd forgotten how hard it is to get the wrinkles out. ;) Eventually I went out and bought a new iron! LoL (And yeah, I know this sounds kind of contrary: "so she doesn't want it to look brand new, but she's fussing about getting it perfectly ironed." I can only say there's a difference between straight-out-of-the-box and used-but-tidy, which fits the character I'm supposed to portray.) Overall, I'm really happy with the item and will definitely turn to the Historical Emporium for future costume needs!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the garment I ordered. From the photos I was afraid the fabric would be very thin, but when it arrived I realized I was wrong. I am sure this shirt will last me for years to come crawling through early 20th century mines.

I love the style of the Gibson blouse, however, I returned it. I purchased two different styles of blouses and returned this one. I usually wear a "small" size. I ordered both blouses in the size "medium". For me, the neckline and cuffs on the Gibson blouse were too tight. I would recommend ordering one size larger. The fabric on the Gibson Blouse was a lighter weight than I expected. I kept the other blouse and enjoy wearing it. Historical Emporium accepted my return of the Gibson Blouse. I will be ordering from them again.

Bought this as part of a saloon entertainer outfit. Love the style and I especially appreciate the short sleeves as performing during the summer in Texas is just plain hot, even indoors. It looks great with my Lydia skirt. Substantial material - way better than costume quality. The sleeve style is delightful as well. Historical Emporium does need a better photo of this black blouse The ruffles and the sleeve details do not show well in the existing photo.

This is a beautiful blouse. Well made, nice fabric, stylish, and true black color. I used the size chart, but for me the fit is a bit tight in the back, which appears, according to the model photos, to be normal for this blouse. It's not uncomfortable, and the front does not pull, it's just tighter than I expected. This will wear well under a vest or underbust corset.
