We decided to finally try going out to the beach and my boyfriend is not a confident type or person so he would rather have the cover of a shirt but never liked the newer fashions. So when he saw Sweeney Todd's bathing suit we had to find one and this was exactly what he wanted! Fits him amazing and he wears it even out and about now.

I love vintage clothes and this was an excellent find!

My hope is polyester will hold color longer than cottons.

This straw boater is perfect for a museum display accompanying Mark Twain's book Life on the Mississippi. At the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, Missouri, we do a rotating display of his first editions to protect them from light and wear. Mark Twain wore a straw boater similar to this one when he worked as a cub pilot (learning the ropes) on steamboats on the Mississippi River.

Hat is better than expected

I received numerous positive comments about my Boater. It was admired by many and generated a lot of conversation about its history and personal memories.

I purchased this hat to go with Seersucker suit also from Historical Emporium. Great quality hat for good price. My husband received many compliments on his outfit.

The beauty replaced a similar hat that belonged to my late father-in-law. It arrived on time and well-packed. The hat appears to be made well and should give me good service.

The straw boater is a perfect fit. I am able to use accent with several combinations.

The high price caught me off guard at first, but once I actually received the hat and got to take a look at it, I realized that its price is justified. Handmade and feels as authentic as can be for a panama hat, I was most pleased that a hat, for once, wasn't too small or constrictive for my otherwise large head. As a matter of fact, the hat is just barely slightly large, which I'm 100% okay with after a lifetime of small hats. It works well not just as an authentic period piece, it can also work as other costumes such as a CIA agent in Cuba if you so choose (as a humorous example). In short, a high-quality, handmade hat that can accommodate large heads (as long as you order the correct size).

Parasol arrived in seemingly good condition, I like the quality of the lace and of the mechanism seems sturdy enough, but the second time I opened it I noticed one of the spindles had broken from the top and twisted at the joint, making it impossible to close properly. I wouldn't advise people against it for casual use, just be extra careful when you close it that everything is lined up on the inside.

My entire order came quickly and in very good condition. The parasol was wrapped well and works very nicely. It will be a "hit" at my nieces Steam Punk wedding.

All the items thus far have top-shelf in authenticity and quality. This item was purchased for our daughter to use (in lieu of a hat in the sun) and it worked but the construction did not seem as "hearty" or "sturdy" as I have come to expect from H/E, but admittedly I have no basis of comparison nor do I have any complaint, and hey I'm a man, the item is made for women so perhaps it is as it should be?...but also, something other than the plastic sheath packaging it came in to keep it closed would be a handy improvement -so a random piece of lace will be needed...

The Battenberg Lace parasol is beautiful. It is a replacement of one I purchased several years ago in New Orleans. It has rec'd many compliments. I had just one problem, the second day of use the upper bracket that holds the parasol open lost the little pin that secured it in place. It was repaired with a cut off paper clip which fit the small hole exactly. I am very pleased with this item.

I purchased the parasol to use with a dress I made circa 1812 anniversary coming up in June. It goes quite well!

I wore a fairly simple wedding dress, but this parasol and the matching fan made it look over the top elegant. It is an item of excellent quality with fun flair.

Purchased this set to go to a water side event and my wife and I wanted to be different. So we thought 1920's style. I ordered the 2XL. It fits my chest real well but its rather loose and baggy around the mid section. There's no taper to it shirt. Shorts fit well and the draw string easily pulls to tighten up the shorts but enough room in the thighs and long enough to not be "hanging out" at the waters edge.

It looks the part from a distance, but the material is quite light and stretchy which feels inauthentic. I wish it were more like a heavier natural fiber.

I wore my suit all weekend at the Ritz Carlton resort. The fit and comfort were both incredible in and out of the water.

Based off reviews I originally bought a large to be safe, and it was very loose fitting. I then ordered a medium and it fit so much better! I normally wear a medium in most clothing. It was a little tight going over the chest and on the arms, but once I had it on it fit good. The only issue is due to the arm tightness I can’t fully raise my arms but I only plan to wear it for one day so I can work with that.

We raise our family of 7 kiddos to be modestly-attired and they enjoy doing so. This has made swimming a bit strange since they've previously had to wear shorts and a shirt, but with the Ladies 1900 Bathing Suit from Historical Emporium, they can be properly modest in what is technically a genuine bathing suit. The culture has gone so far downhill that, ironically, this bathing suit could almost be worn to church and still be more modest than the things some people wear. That said, it's crazy to think that the 99% naked people at the local pool or at the beach would point at the "weirdos" wearing this fantastic Historical Emporium bathing suit. Although we normally use a private family pool, we would gladly take this on a trip and use it at the seashore. We would stand out no matter what, so we're happy to do it boldly with the outfits H.E. has to offer!!!

This garment will work for the costume I had been looking for. However, the pantaloons (as shown in the pictures) do not come with it. Another $50 and my one-day costume could be complete. In my opinion, had I known this, I would have looked elsewhere.

I ordered a large & the fit is snug. The materials are beautiful; the workmanship is high quality; the colors & style are perfect! But, after worn & washed, I worry that the cotton fabric will shrink.

Thick cotton material. Look is genuine and makes me feel like the 1900s. I bought matching bloomers. I am 5"7', athletic, 149 lbs. I usually wear between a size 6-8. The dress in a large fits comfortably. Biceps are snug. My waist is 28 and there is plenty of room. Not skin tight. I bought the bloomers in a size small and those fit prefect.

I purchased three of these for an event that will take place next February, and I'm eagerly awaiting the opportunity to wear mine. I may use it at Halloween so I won't have to wait several months to enjoy it. I'm greatly impressed with the quality of the bathing suit. The fabric is of a nice quality, and the construction is of good quality. I'm most impressed. I feel the suits were a "bargain" at the price we paid for them. We are constructing our own mob caps as we want a patterned fabric rather than plain white, but most likely the quality of the mob cap would follow suit. Now that I've seen the quality of product, I know I will be buying other items from your site. Love it!

Very cute, I became parted from my husband at one point who was wearing the men's 1900's swimsuit and had complete strangers without being asked tell me where he was. I could move around freely though it was a bit tight in the arms. Hard to get off because of that, but when it was on I had no problem. I even went kayaking in it. IMPORTANT: Top of dress is unlined! I had a tailor put in an extra layer of lining for modesty, or just wear a sports bra underneath.

I wanted a swim suit that I could play on the beach in the sand without feeling exposed. This was perfect. I swam in the pool today and it works great in the water too.

It could work as a Japanese school girl cosplay for an Anime Convention or even Wednesday Addams for Halloween. Added a straw hat, striped sox's, and tongs. Maybe beach ball too. It makes some people laugh. Which is what I wanted. It is comfortable. Would like see price come down. But probably say that about most things. You can really swim in it.

We were in Mexico and I didn't want a typical swim shirt. Why not make a statement. This was spot on and held up in the pool and the sun. The only issue was the younger crowd thought I was Waldo! I should've gotten the blue one also. Would've rocked it.

This outfit is for our production of the Addams Family musical. This was the only place that I found this outfit for Uncle Fester .It is very good quality and arrived neatly packaged. I will definitely check this site again for items I need for future shows.

As a washed up 90's celebrity, it's important to stay relevant with the young kids these days. I'm thankful Historical Emporium provides such sick poolwear for me to subtly say "Look at me! I'm a professional Santa and I bought this for a beach vacation this year. Overall I like the product. It fits true to size, looks great, and my XXL was roomy enough for my ample Santa stomach. The fabric is a bit sheer, so I also bought (elsewhere) red underpants and undershirt. The only criticism I have is that the pants have a very low-rise waist, so it rides like old hip-hugger jeans. However, the top comes down to mid-thigh so the waist is well covered... it just feels a bit uncomfortably low. But I'm old, so what I find uncomfortable you may not. Overall very glad I found this.

I have a need for this suit for a Christmas in July event in Florida. It will be at a splash pad and with the temperatures here I’m going to enjoy just sitting in the water but all hopes are it will be a big hit. I washed it per directions let it hang up to dry and it is colorfast.

See through when wet, so wear a white suit underneath for added coverage. I get lots of compliments on it. The reccomended sizes worked for me.

Well made and authentic-looking (as far as I know). The top runs very small so if you're busty, like I am, it'll be tight.

We are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our island association. I wore the bathing suit in the antique boat parade and later in an antique cedar canoe for the regatta. Everyone wanted their picture taken with me. So many people asked where I'd found such a wonderful costume. I was happy to tell them that the Historical Emporium had quality items at great prices with outstanding service.

I was very satisfied with the product and with the delivery time. Paypal wouldn't work so I used the old telephone and the customer service representative made ordering very painless and quick. My mailman left the package where is got soaked by rain and I really appreciated the suit being properly wrapped in plastic inside the box.
