Bought to ride in - look and feel awesome!

I participate in Spanish Classical dressage tournaments and working equitation clinics. This is lovely material and feminine and you do not need to wear leggings with it like you do with some of the Spanish designs. I cannot wait to ride in it. It can also have an old west look to it. It's perfect!

No occasion just like wearing them

I have several costumes for riding sidesaddle and needed something for a western look with various vests and jackets. These fit well, do not seem to bind and are slim looking around the waist and hips. I may hand wash as I don't want to change the fit one iota!! Lovely product, thank you!

This is my second pair of Classic Riding Pants and I love them. They fit well (use the sizing chart), drape beautifully, and I like the longer length as just about any style of shoe or boot looks great. The fabric is soft but sturdy. Does require ironing or quick touch up. I've worn these riding pants with several Historical Emporium blouses, off the rack blouses, and casual pull over shirts. AND, there are two deep pockets! Bonus!

This is a beautifully crafted cotton skirt. Soft nice weight. Can easily be worn for dress or play depending on what you wear with it.

Good fit and unique

This is an awesome skirt made with sturdy fabric and buttons. The inseam is slightly short for me at 5' 10" but it's not enough to deter me from wearing it.

Needed a new look for showing up to events for my equine therapy nonprofit and this fits the bill! It can be pants or skirt and has a great vintage Wild West look. Made of sturdy material - many riding skirts are too thin. I can't wait to try it in the saddle!

This convertible skirt is for a production of Little Women at a high school theater. The concept is perfect for the character. An XS size would be helpful but it was an easy alteration.

The pants ended up not being proper from the civil war era. But, they are nice and fashionable even for today. They were sent with a signature requirement which almost defeated the purpose of paying extra for quick delivery. If I had known a signature was required I would have waited for the mailman. As it was I did pick them up at the post office the next day. If I hadn't known the postmaster, the package would have gone out on the truck again, and I could have missed it yet again.

These are perfect! The material an size were perfect also! I bought them for old bicycle riding an they worked out just as i had hoped. Will definitely buy from here again for my vintage attire!

This garmet was beautifully made out of quality fabric. Unfortunately the pair I received had a small flaw in the fabric in a visible area so I had to send them back. Fit: These riding pants would probably work best on someone 5'4" or taller. Also the waist is very fitted, no give, even though the garmet has lots of flowing fabric. I'm 5'1" weight 125lbs and the waist on the small was pretty snug ( my waist measures 30") Very disappointed they didn't work.

They fit is as if they were custom sewn for me and me alone. The pockets are fairly horizontal so they don't pooch out badly. The fabric is butter soft, and the rise exactly matches my waist to crotch ratio. They swirl nicely around my legs as I walk like a skirt, but since they are pants, my thighs don't have to be overly friendly. :) As I am not a small woman, my thighs do not always have a civil relationship with each other. I ordered the XL - I have a 40" waist and they measure exactly 39"... I'm okay with this. I WANT MORE!!! I can totally see what I am wearing this summer.

The fabric for these sueded riding pants is lovely, and they are lined. The only initial disappointment I had when I received my first order was that the sizing was way off! I have a 31.5" waist and initially ordered a Large that was supposed to fit waists up to 32" but I was floating in them, they were enormous around the waist and not even wearing a belt would have helped. I returned them and ordered a Medium that was to fit waists up to 29" and they fit perfectly. So something appears to be a bit off in the measurement guidelines. I've noticed this to be true with sizing recommendations for blouses as well based on two purchases made. Aside from that these riding pants were a great find and I absolutely love them. The photo doesn't quite do them justice because I didn't think the fabric would be as high quality as it is. I would definitely recommend these riding pants if you're looking for an item like this, just be cautious about what size you order to avoid the hassle of having to ship it back to exchange it for another.

This was my first purchase from Historical Emporium and the quality is outstanding! Everything arrives neatly pressed, in plastic bags and with very fast delivery. I will be wearing these and the other items I ordered as part of a barn costume party and picture day with everyone and our horses. I'm so excited to wear the ensemble and see the pictures. The sizing on these pants ran larger had to return to get a smaller size.Lots of room in the crotch area. The quality of the garment is wonderful! Future customers won't be disappointed. Return was processed fast. No complaints. Considering getting the green pair next.

These riding pants are great, I have an American Quarter Horse and have used them to ride in, they are comfortable and perfect for this. The quality is very good and hard waring, only problem is they will get dirty quick using them this way so I will need another couple of pairs, might even have a blouse to complete the look. My stables are based on the Western theme and we have open days where we set the Dutch Ovens up over the camp fires, finding this Historical Emporium site will enable us to dress up to make it more authentic - expect more orders coming you way. One very satisfied customer.

This skirt is perfect for my volunteer job at a state park with a late 1800's theme. My only complaint is the length of the skirt is ridiculously long. I had to shorten it TEN inches!

love it, its a little too wide for me even with the additional buttons on the back but apart from that its perfect.i cant agree with the other reviews saying that its too long, im 5'1 and it doesnt even reach the floor when i wear it with my boots which i am very happy about

I bought this to go with a Top I had also purchased. I exchanged the medium for a large because of snugness. I love the quality of the fabric. I will wear it to an annual Victorian Feast held in our historical state park every year

Some women friends and I are attending a Victorian Holiday Tea in December and we're all trying to dress in period costume. This skirt (and accompanying blouse) is just perfect. When I tried it on, my husband said "Wow! Now I want to go to the Tea too." I can use this outfit two or three times a year. All I have to do is shorten the skirt a couple inches, otherwise, I'll be dusting the floor as I walk.

This skirt is the perfect length for me and the adjustability of the buttons in the back makes the fit perfect. It's well made with a quality, somewhat heavy fabric, but easy to care for.

This is a lovely piece! It was such a joy to try on for the first time. The navy is just the shade I had hoped for and those buttons in the back are a great touch. :) As a tall lady (5'7'') with a 29'' waist, I thought I was taking a chance by ordering a small. However, the length and fit are great! This skirt pairs nicely with my new Victorian Boots as well, they give me the bit of extra height needed to keep the hem off of the ground. I like this so much that I will be getting one in another color...

I recently purchased the Navy Cotton Twill Walking Skirt & I LOVE it. The fit is just right for me even without wearing a corset. I am slowly transitioning into 19th C clothing on a full time basis & being a woman who wears a 2x makes it difficult. I absolutely love this skirt. It is made very well and I received many compliments on it. It fit perfect in length, just a little loose in the waist but I had layers on so it was perfect! I will definitely be buying more in the future!

Nice heavy-weight fabric, not flimsy or see-through, but neither is it heavy or cumbersome. I needed to hem it for my height, and this was easy to do. Irons easily. It's a beautiful skirt and has a flat, flattering line along the waist, and the size is adjustable without using elastic.

I will not wear it. Way too big. Waited for delivery of a crinoline, but it did not help. Am sending it back. Well-made and the material is very nice, but no way to adjust it. Too much material in the back.

I will wear it at the DAR house, Lewes, Delaware. We just completed a renovation of our 1890 kitchen. This will be the perfect outfit as a hostess.

I love this skirt! I was looking for a long cotton skirt, and this was perfect! The material is strong and durable, while also being soft and stylish. Just a word of warning for any short ladies, you may need to have it altered a little bit, because it is very long, but other than that- it's perfect!

Wonderful quality skirt, absolutely love it. Made me realize I'm on the shorter end of the spectrum, I'm going to have to hem it a few inches to keep from tripping over myself, but that's a me problem. Thick, high quality material and stitching, I'm going to be enjoying this skirt for a long time. My only complaint is that the buttons are extremely cheap little plastic things, I think I'll be replacing them.

A walking skirt is the key piece for my reenactment and this one is great! Nice heavy twill makes it hang and move very nicely. I have a pattern for a walking skirt, but it made so much more sense to buy this one. I do have to shorten it, but no big deal. It's already pinned up so all I have to do is sit down and stitch up the hem. I have two pairs of boots that have different height heels so I want to be sure the skirt length works for both. Or better yet, I should order a second skirt from you so I can have a longer skirt for the dressy boots and a slightly shorter one for the walking boots. I think I like that solution!

Item was purchased for our reenactment groups Victorian walk in Guthrie Ok. mid December. The skirt arrived three days early, just in time to wear to Clarmore's Dickens on the Boulevard that night. We entered their costume contest and won most striking couple. The only things on our outfits that didn't come from Historical Emporium were her hat and shoes, and my vest, cane ,and shoes. Everyone we met were very complementary.

I just love it, It fits perfectly. i will wear it with a grey and black vest and a large, flowered hat for a big fund raiser in August.

I am was looking for something to wear to a Dicken's Fair. The skirt is very well made and looks beautiful. I do wish it had come in different lengths since I am short and this skirt is made for someone who is very tall. A hoop skirt would not solve the problem. Keeping it though, since I like it so much.

I wish the skirts came in a shorter length. I need the larger size but am 5'2"; so the skirts always have to be hemmed . Extra work and extra cost to shorten.

This skirt is quite simply, lovely. It is a slight shade darker than I expected but I have no complaints. The quality, as always, has exceeded my expectations. It's a delightful addition to my Victorian-inspired wardrobe. I will need to have it hemmed (a downside of being vertically challenged). I will certainly purchase more items from this company.

I purchased this pinstripe walking skirt and the matching shirt for an upcoming event in my hometown. The event requires us to have on traditional looking 1850's clothing. This outfit is fashioned perfectly for the time period, very well made and fit true to size. I am so impressed and felt the price was great for the quality I received.

The fabric and construction is good quality, but of the 4 skirts I ordered, 3 had to have the center back panel completely removed to fit properly at the waist. These definitely run a bit big.

I was very pleased with this skirt. Fit was as described, with quite a bit of flexibility based on the multiple buttons available.

This was the only item in my order that matched my expectations based on the picture.

Although I think the products are a bit pricey, I certainly can not complain about the construction. I purchased both the blouse and skirt and both are very well made. I am new to this time period and a little hesitant about the look of the outfit but I think it will work for 1895. I thought the adjustability of the skirt was very clever and doesn't detract from an authentic look, at least as far as I can tell. I figure I'm saving myself a lot of work and aggravation by not sewing this one from scratch. However, I will be jazzing it up with some borders and an additional collar. I will also add horsehair around the hem. This is all for an event later this month where I give house tours and like to dress to the year the house was built. I think I'm pretty happy with this purchase and will be buying a white blouse sometime in the future.

I love this skirt. It is nicely made and looks great in the black and white pinstripes. I wore it for the first time today (with the matching blouse and a black jacket) for a suffragette outfit that I wore to one of the Women's Marches. These are made like real clothing, not costumes, very nice. The skirt feels very accurate to the period - smooth and staight in front with a wonderful great sweep behind. I wore three petticoats under it for the full effect. It felt great! I did get the hem quite muddy, so we'll see how she does in the laundry!

I am a tour guide at our local Railway Museum. I dress in clothes close to what would have been worn around here in 1910. I love the clothes I've gotten from Historical Emporium for several reasons: First they are all very well made, using good quality fabrics. Second they are reasonably priced. Third, I usually receive them within a week of the time I order them. Fourth, they are comfortable and look good and like the period. So far I've purchased a suit, 2 skirts, and at least 5 blouses. I have 2 tips for people buying for the first time: 1. read the sizing tables and reviews to insure you get the correct sizes on the blouses. Because of their construction, some blouses are more fitted than others, so you may need to order a size or two larger. 2. The skirts are usually long, so read the descriptions. This skirt, like the others I've ordered, is 41 inches long. I'll be cutting it shorter to fit me because I'm way too short to wear such a long skirt. I am able to make a simple modification like that myself, but if you don't sew, you'll need to find a way to shorten the hem if it's too long for you.

Hi Historical. I Soo love my new denim skirt. Why? Because the fabric is perfect for all seasons. B/c I'm tall & it falls to my ankles which I needed. B/c as a Christian this skirt covers my need for modesty. And b/c it's fun to wear. When I twirl around & the skirt's hem balloons out over my shoes, I'm in a ladies paradise. This is a great vintage-looking skirt but not awkward to wear (once I shortened it, since I'm 5' 2".) It's described as denim-colored twill but the one I received was actually a light-weight real denim. Doesn't give off blue-jean vibes but maybe something you should be aware of.

We attended a western black tie wedding. I loved the quality and fit of my skirt however I am 5'2" and the skirt was way too long or made for a crinoline. I had to roll the top and cover with a wide belt which worked fine.

I usually sew my own clothes but it was delightful to have someone else sew for me. The fit was perfect... I am tall and it's just the right length . Thank you! .l

This riding skirt is such an amazing product! I have horses so going out riding or working around the ranch has never been so comfortable! The skirt has so much room for you to move your legs and since it is polyester it does keep you nice and cool on hot days. I personally like to go with historically accurate clothing material but this one makes an exception! I highly recommend this skirt!!!

Size was not normal....

They are really comfortable, and a lot of fun. Also look really deceptive from the front, friends can’t figure out if I’m wearing a skirt or pants 😊

The skirt was way too big. When I was ordering it I was told that they run small so even though I usually wear a small or 4 that the medium would probably fit best. The medium was at least 2 sizes too big. I have experienced other orders that the sizing was undependable.

Used for a Steampunk outfit and worked well. Could have bought a size smaller but went with the sizing chart for my size. It was nice to having a pair of pants that had the appearance of a skirt for a change.
