I've always loved the look of a coat like this, and I wasn't disappointed when I received mine. As I'm very short it hangs lower on me, but I think that makes it look even better!

I love this coat! It is perfect for California winters and might run a tad bit large, but can easily be adjusted. It took a bit longer to receive than I thought, but it was worth the wait.

This was purchased as a gift, and the recipient was very pleased. Size small fits a young, thin frame well. The shoulders lined up perfectly, but the waist runs rather large for a small coat. This is a very simple fix, though; the buttons on the back-gathering straps can easily be sewn in another place according to one's waist, or the straps can just be tied together for a different look. The quality is superb, especially considering the low price. Highly recommended.

The Spencer coat is perfect for my Regency look that I need for the bicentennial celebration at our local historic cemetery. The fabric is fabulous!

The coat is not only lovely, but of a much heavier weight than expected. The fabric has a great feel. The corduroy is a much finer wale than I expected. I used the sizing chart and it fits, but I could have bought one size up from what I did. My suggestion would be to do that. Lovely item!

I ordered this to add to my Regency ensemble for a Jane Austen birthday celebration. The coat is well made and the clever zipper gives it two options - full length coat or short jacket. I sized up as suggested on the website, and the fit is perfect. Shipping was quicker than I expected. When I called to ask about shipping timelines, my call was quickly and thoroughly answered. I would definitely order from here again.

Beautifully made. Sleeves loose enough to be comfortable, but not baggy. Material feels like velvet and has a nice drape.

The fit of the coat was great. Sleeves were too long but I was able to turn them up into a "cuff" and it looked good because the inside of the sleeves were lined and finished very nicely. This was part of my Steam Punk look for a Halloween Party and everyone loved it. It's so nice doing business with a company that takes pride in their work and produces such a quality product. Would definitely order from them again if the need arises!

This jacket is unique and I mean that in a good way. It feels great to wear and looks beautiful. I love the clothing of the Victorian and Regency era and do my best to incorporate it into my modern day clothing. We live in a time period where so many individuals, quite frankly, dress like slobs, and I prefer not to. Thank you for providing quality items at really great prices and even though I have no special events to wear this item, I am delighted to own it and wear it.

The material in this patchwork design jacket is even richer looking in person. The sizing first listed was incorrect but Noel was very helpful and made sure I received the perfect size. I purchased this for a costume design and it worked lovely! We were able to Quick Rig it on and off the actor so quick costume changes were possible. Will be buying time period stuff from here always!

I'm using this coat to concierge at my theater job. This coat is perfect for warmer weather. Sizing does run a little small, especially on top. Measurement chart is accurate but if you're on the line of sizes, I recommend ordering a size up. I did have to exchange and was pleased with the promptness of the process. Delivery was fast for both original order and exchange. Can't wait to wear it!

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I've never ordered a historic-looking piece of clothing before from anywhere, and I my primary concerns were: 1) that it would be too small, and 2) that it would be so cheaply made, that other folks at the event would have judgment. 🤣 However when this dress/coat came, I was so excited to open it. It looked very quality made... the color matched what the website showed, and I was thrilled. HOWEVER, there was still my other concern: would it fit? Was this something from China that had a sizing guideline where everything was super tiny? I had ordered up one size, just in case (and you might want to as well?)... knowing I could probably sew in the sides a bit if too big. However, it was perfect! I put it on and immediately felt era-appropriate! I did not wear anything under it except for a black tank top to cover cleavage, and some black tights (I already owned some semi-believable lace-up shoes)... and the way the buttons only go down about to the knees, let air come in an circulate as I walked. It was just a very comfortable dress in every regard. And at/after the event, I got so many compliments! So thanks for the terrific garment, H.E. – and I will definitely continue to be a customer!!

Disappointed with the fit. Had to return because my normal size in this coat was not able to come close to fit. Order at least two zizes up

Its a great coat, the sizing chart works so make sure to get accurate measurements. Perfect if you want to look like "A time traveler that doesn't care about blending in" or for a historical look.

I really like this car coat for the most part. I wish the lapels were a little bit longer to make it look a little bit more Victorian, or early Edwardian as well little bit more feminine. However, the fabric is nice and thin, which makes it ideal for early fall, late spring, or dusty rhodes. This coat has no lining in it, which is also nice because it doesn't make it overly thick or heavy. The pockets are nice and big, and although I think the skirt of the coat could be a little bit wider to accommodate full skirts, it's not a bad fit.

I have not worn it yet, but I will be wearing at a Christmas parade as I walk beside my husbands 1916 Model T.

By following the size chart I was comfortably in the middle of medium. Alas, it was too tight and had to pay a small fortune in postage to return if for a larger size and will be charged again for postage for the new one.

My wife absolutely loved it, got it as a present for her, perfect fit. Quality is also really good.

I've been purchasing clothes, hats and more for years at the Historical Emporium. When I can't find what I want anywhere else in the word, I just come to the Historical Emporium. I love period clothing and wanted a duster like I purchased for so long. I waited years to get one. Couldn't find it anywhere. Fits just great. If it didn't I know I'd have no problem returning it or exchanging it. Historical Emporium has the most amazing and friendly customer service. I just got my twill duster and I am very pleased with it. It is made of a medium thickness of cotton and would be a good autumn coat. The detailing (the way it buttons at the back) is excellent and the cut is extremely faithful to the original style coats. The price is excellent for what you get, and I can't wait to wear it.

My order arrived quickly and I like the skirt and coat. I wore them for Halloween and received many compliments.

This coat is more steampunk than Victorian. I needed Victorian for my impression. It also runs small. As Steampunk it is a really nice coat.

The Madeline Inverness Coat I purchased fits me like a wool glove. Cinching my waist, I could wear it as a dress in late Fall or early Winter back east. I Luv it!

This coat has a ton of style! Relatively lightweight- good for California winters. The sizing is SUPER helpful- normally i wear a MED but due to the chart and the tailored style, i sized up to be more comfortable with modern clothing, and it is GREAT! If i could change ONE thing, it'd be the buttons- they are domed and solid plastic. I understand thpugh- this coat has A LOT of buttons. I will be replacing with flat metal ones to match my style.

The workmanship of this coat is amazing. It is stunning! But best of all, the customer support was fabulous. I bought this coat for my wife, and while ordering a size bigger than she told me she was, the coat was still too small for her. I called and was presently surprised by the customer service. I was able to return the coat for the right size, (2 sizes up!).

This is a extremely well made coat. Good for mildly chilly weather, its a great Fall and costume coat. Only wished they made it bigger like the frock coats.

Excellently put together. The seams are clean and the material is quality. I wore it out to the mall and got countless compliments. The fit was perfect. Just follow the size chart. There are decorative buttons on the shoulders that I didn't love, but they were easy to remove with some scissors (no damage done to the coat. Just pull the extra thread it leaves behind and they come right out without leaving a hole)

Would have been nice if all sizes were available.

I absolutely love this coat, however, it is either cut very small or I have gained a bit of weight, as it is too small and I was unable to wear it to the event I planned to attend. Unfortunately, I cannot return it because it arrived quite wrinkled and I had to have it cleaned. So, I am hoping that somehow I will lose enough weight to fit into it soon.

I really love the coat. I wish it were a little thicker for the winter months but for fall and weather up to about 40 degrees, it should be perfect. Love the button detail and the way it stands out. Subtle Victorian beauty!!! I am so glad I took the large. I am not big, but I do have wider shoulders and the size Large is good. I wish things were made with the wider shoulder for us who have them. The large is good, however about an inch on either side more, would have been even better. No worries, its worth it...
