Nice and full. I'm tall so the length (5'8") was fine. Multiple buttons in the back so I was able to adjust to fit.

When I opened the package containing the black cotton twill walking skirt, my first thought was I was mistakenly sent the navy-blue skirt instead of the black skirt I ordered. The tag on the skirt said black so then I just figured it was the material that made it look a lighter black. When I put it next to my other black items, shirt and belt, it still looks dark navy blue. If I put a pair of navy-blue pants up to the skirt, they are the same color. I love the skirt; it fits well and is very well made and flowingly full. I just wear it with my white or non-black blouse and belt and it looks great.

This is definitely an all-around wear anywhere skirt. The twill cotton material is fantastic, you can wear it in any season and can be worn with any type of top. I have a white vintage lace Georgian blouse to wear with it, also a soft blush color pullover sweater, the possibilities are endless! Can be worn with my vintage black bow tie shoes or boots! Can dress it up or down, with my vintage cameo jewelry or just a bracelet or two. Arrived very quickly and unlike some sellers, in great shape, not bunched up or wrinkled, can practically be worn right out of the packaging! I really appreciate the care taken in sending the clothing, superior care for superior clothing!! Everyone comments on where I got this skirt, among other dresses I purchased here, you won't find these in the mall!! I definitely plan on getting more!

This skirt lives up to its photo. Fabric quality excellent, fit at waist and hips as quoted. But the length....so long. I'm going to break out the sewing machine. Find someone to help me pin it up, and then put in a new hemline. Please consider petite lengths. This skirt is quality, quality, Quality and worth the price.

I owned two of these skirts before acquiring this one, and this one elegantly solved some of the problems of the earlier models. This is not to slag off on the previous ones, but the added buttons on the waist darts are a blessing. A few evenings ago I was out at my local, outside and "social distancing", wearing an almost entirely Historical Emporium rig (the new black skirt, a new white Yukon waistcoat, and a black "pirate shirt" with lace trim, and picked up a comment of, "You look beautiful". As a six-foot-four bloke that's not a usual comment, but it was welcome anyway. It's not just a "walking skirt" either. At one point in time I needed to actually run in one of these -- and it worked!

Really nice quality. I will need to take at least 5" off the length (I am 5'3"). I am a plus sized woman and I ordered this in a 4x, could easily have done with a 3x and will definitely get another one in a 2x or 3x size.

I had to pay $50 to have this twill cotton skirt altered - it was about 5 inches too long. I sent it back the first time; don't read the reviews that state it is too small. I usually wear a 2X fitted but ordered a 3X because of previous reviews. That was a mistake; the 2X was the correct size, but again - no petites were offered and I had to have this altered.

This skirt is very well made inside and out, and looks great when it's worn, because the fabric is a good quality and weight, and hangs well. The measurements are accurate as posted with the description. The two sets of buttons allows you to make the adjustments to get the right fit. My order arrived when promised, and in great condition. A great shopping experience!

Once again a very well made garment. Rather heavy but that's ok. My only fuss is that I would really like the tops go with the bottoms. I bought a black blouse and was really hoping that the black skirt would match but there is a difference, especially in the sun. The skirt is more of a dark charcoal shade. However, I will wear them together as I have a big frilly apron to break things up. Even if you sold the fabric, I could makeup an Eton jacket. I saw that is the same situation with the wool skirts. I'd buy the fabric as the cost of the fabric and the time spent making would equal out the cost of the finished garment. I go for historical accuracy as much as possible. Buying something once in a while just beats making it even if it is only half the outfit.

I wear petite proportioned garments so I had to alter the length and take in the waist... better than it being too small. It's well made and good quality so alteration is possible without destroying it.

The quality of this skirt is impressive. I am so pleased I finally bought it. It is beautifully made and a warm, thick weight. I can wear this for outdoor appearances and be stylish AND comfortable. I already have my eyes on another one!

This skirt is incredibly well made. Beautiful, quality material & reinforced seams. The waist has buttons so you can adjust the size. it is LONG so I need to adjust the hem for myself. Can't wait to wear it to the Dickens Faire next weekend!

Wow! This is a amazing skirt! It is very heavy and will be great for my outdoor adventures here when the snow flys here! The extra bottons are a big bonus for adjusting the fit. It is very long and I'm short so I did have to take it to be shortened but that is always a issue for me. I wish it came in differnt lengths. I am planning to order another color!

I do like the idea that it is reversible. It was heavier than I thought it would be, but that is a plus if you are wearing it on a cold winter night. So ladies, these skirts are made to keep you warm!

This is a great skirt! Lots of fabric makes it easy to walk in. I ordered 2 XL because I am big around and it fits great. I will have to shorten the skirt because I am not a tall person. I am pleased.

Very hearty skirt I thought it would be tea length but is was to the floor. Also thought it was bias cut but it was pleated. Returned and graciously refunded.....i had planned to hunt in it but too much skirt for easy movement

I really liked this skirt from the moment it arrived. It is well made, and the fabric quality is excellent. The buttons on the back allow for adjustment in the waist. If I could suggest an improvement, it would be to make these in a petite length. At 5 feet and no inches tall, it was of course, too long. However, I am used to this, and it did not take long to re-hem it to an appropriate length. I highly recommend this skirt.

The skirt was exactly as in the picture. The material is durable and heavy. For the most part the stitching is very secure. (three stitches in the waist band unraveled but very easily fixed by even a complete sewing novice like me.). I am happy over all.

This is a very nice skirt - well made, looks good and is a beautiful, rich brown color. I also own this style in the tan/khaki color. I like the option of the extra buttons in the back which allow for adjustment depending on whether you're wearing a blouse tucked in or an over blouse.

This is my second reversible wool skirt from Historical Emporium. I was so impressed with my first one, I had to have another! The skirt is heavy and warm, yet elegant. I love this skirt! It's beautifully made and feels really nice on. It is a heavy garment so you might want to buy a size where the waist is snug so it doesn't feel as if it's pulling down. The only thing that would improve this skirt is pockets.

Very impressive quality. It's a rather heavy weight fabric, I like the body it provides. I'm wearing it with the hoop skirt. It goes well with a black blouse for a widow look and I have a burgundy ruffle blouse that looks beautiful with it as well.

This is the 2nd skirt I have purchased here. I bought this skirt 1 size smaller than my previous skirt because I know the sizes run large. It fits perfectly, partly due to the elastic waist. It is also the right length right out of the box (I had to have my other skirt hemmed). I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a basic Victorian skirt. Keep a lint roller handy, because the twill attracts almost everything!

This is a very beautiful, well made skirt. It can be thrown in the washer and dryer and the folds and layers in the back can be touched up with an iron - don't have to dry clean! I'm paring this with a pair of victorian boots and the Abbington blouse. One could probably wear this skirt not as a costume, with a long sleeved V neck T-Shirt and a wide black belt.

This is a gorgeous garment. It is twill, so the hems will tend to fold over in the dryer and it will need a touch-up with an iron when it comes out. but you CAN put it in the washer and dryer, which is huge when you're talking about practical clothing. The length, weight, and drape of this are just beautiful. I have a thick waist, measuring around 36", and I ordered the XL. It fits well enough that I'm not going to exchange it but if I had it over I would order the Large -- there's ample stretch in the elastic and it would be a bit more snug/secure in the smaller size. Would love to see this offered in other colors!

This skirt appears to be of good quality and very durable. It will work well with the Georgiana blouse wearing it in our 1862 era museum building, whether as a school teacher, store keeper, or housewife.

This is a super skirt. I wear a size 18 or better and it fits to perfection. AND doesn't look too big. the ruffle is only in the back and makes a nice silhouette. the front panel hangs smooth, just as it should. I would buy this in other colors too, if only it were made in brown, rust, tan or navy.

This Bustle Skirt was excellent - I won a bottle of French Champagne so I am happy. Quick delivery, a little too large - but I think that is my fault for ordering Australian sizing!

This skirt came with plenty of length for me at 5'8". It is well constructed and the elastic had a comfortable amount of give. It looks good alone; but the twill has a soft hand after washing. I don't find this a detriment at all for it makes it very comfortable. But it loses a little fullness because of it. It also looks great over hoops or with just a small bustle pad.

Ordered this at the last minute before an event and so glad I did. Lovely weight and quality of fabric. Great, comfortable design. Looked great, was easy to put on and it fit nicely under a corset. If only it came in a lovely dark brown...sigh. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a bit of a fancier back but still maintaining a general simplicity and elegance.

I purchased this pinstripe walking skirt and the matching shirt for an upcoming event in my hometown. The event requires us to have on traditional looking 1850's clothing. This outfit is fashioned perfectly for the time period, very well made and fit true to size. I am so impressed and felt the price was great for the quality I received.

The fabric and construction is good quality, but of the 4 skirts I ordered, 3 had to have the center back panel completely removed to fit properly at the waist. These definitely run a bit big.

I was very pleased with this skirt. Fit was as described, with quite a bit of flexibility based on the multiple buttons available.

This was the only item in my order that matched my expectations based on the picture.

Although I think the products are a bit pricey, I certainly can not complain about the construction. I purchased both the blouse and skirt and both are very well made. I am new to this time period and a little hesitant about the look of the outfit but I think it will work for 1895. I thought the adjustability of the skirt was very clever and doesn't detract from an authentic look, at least as far as I can tell. I figure I'm saving myself a lot of work and aggravation by not sewing this one from scratch. However, I will be jazzing it up with some borders and an additional collar. I will also add horsehair around the hem. This is all for an event later this month where I give house tours and like to dress to the year the house was built. I think I'm pretty happy with this purchase and will be buying a white blouse sometime in the future.

I love this skirt. It is nicely made and looks great in the black and white pinstripes. I wore it for the first time today (with the matching blouse and a black jacket) for a suffragette outfit that I wore to one of the Women's Marches. These are made like real clothing, not costumes, very nice. The skirt feels very accurate to the period - smooth and staight in front with a wonderful great sweep behind. I wore three petticoats under it for the full effect. It felt great! I did get the hem quite muddy, so we'll see how she does in the laundry!

Though I used reasonable measurements as instructed, this skirt was much larger. Even after washing, with a fair amount of shrinkage, I had to alter the waist. But my whole outfit with the blouse and hat was stunning. I got many compliments at our 4th of July festivities.

This is a wonderful skirt -- the color is just as shown in the photo (a rich deep garnet), the material is light and flowy, and the cut is flattering for a variety of body types. It is "classic" enough to be included in a vintage-type outfit, but also contemporary enough to be worn in everyday situations. I love it!

This skirt was purchased as a Christmas gift for a friend. She absolutely loved it -- tried it on as soon as she opened it and did not take it off for the rest of the evening! She and her family (as well as I) were very impressed with the quality and beauty of the skirt.

First off all, this skirt was beautiful! I loved it. Unfortunately, I couldn't wear it. It only comes in one size, and while it technically fit me--insofar as I could get it on my body--it was not attractive at all. I am on the large size, and the skirt fit very tightly over my caboose' and did not, in fact swirl and just plain looked bad. This really needs to come in a bigger size, with more fabric, for the plus size among us. I gave it to my daughter, who is much smaller than I, and it looks lovely on her. I hope to see it offered in a larger size some day so I can buy one for myself.

The fabric of the skirt really is lovely. The length was perfect, the only down side is the very strong elastic at the waist, will take some stretching to loosen it up.

Terrific for re-enacting. Adaptable to several eras (e.g. Victorian through WW1, depending on undergarment and modified length), and ideal for winter outdoor use--the fabric is very high thread count, dense, heavy wool.

I truly wanted to like this skirt, and had hoped to wear it during this holiday season with the Victoria Blouse I had recently purchased. But, alas, it was not to be. While the navy color, length (I'm a 6 footer), and style of this skirt were perfect, the weight of the very thick wool fabric was overwhelmingly. I returned this skirt because of the fabric, no other reason.

This skirt (And company) is AMAZING... I ordered it for NYE to go with a stunning corset I had just won in a contest, & the shipping was SO FAST that I got it in PLENTY of time. I'm pretty short (5'3"), and the chiffon "train" in the back still came to about what you see in the pic; But I definitely couldn't have worn flats with it. LOL I was at a venue with 4,000+ people, & was probably the oldest woman in the room (I'm 54), & I was voted the "Sexiest-Dressed-Woman" of the night... :-)
