I have always wanted a Top Hat. I purchased the Wahmaker Highland Frock Coat and have worn it to Court (I'm a lawyer). When it came time for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Court House, I knew I had to wear my frock coat, but wanted a quality Top Hat that didn't look cheap. I ordered the Victorian Top Hat, the quality is amazing. The hat looks very nice and I intend to wear it occasionally come Winter. If you are needing a hat for a Victorian impression, I highly recommend this hat.

Very nice hat, however it seems made for a very round head shape. Ny head is more of a long oval so hat was tight fore and aft but loose side to side. I did get it to fit better with a little work. Just be aware, the proper size may not fit perfectly right out of the box. Well worth the time to make it fit.

I like to wear hats, and I'm collecting them. I like the hat, but the color is a bit darker than I imagined, and the size is a bit large, even with the internal sizing cord. Which is odd, because i have large and xl for other hats. Except this one.

I got this hat to chaperone a junior high school dance. Great service and timely delivery. Great hat, except much larger than the L size, which reduces my rating by one star. There is an elastic cord to help size the hat, but it isn't very useful because it is higher up on the head, not near the crown. Will be fine for one event.

The hat is just as described. Maybe runs a wee bit small (however it could be my measuring - first time that buyer.)
Ultimately it's a great hat.
My caveat is twofold. First it doesn't list on the tag in the hat what it's made of, and two, it's made in China.
I might have overlooked these two details when I purchased, but those are my thoughts.
It really is a nice hat though.

I was very surprised to find this hat! I saw one years ago at a store in Boone NC and tried it on, and fell in love! At the time I could not afford to buy it. I had been lookig in that same store for years and never saw it again. I had checked other stores that specialized in hats and various other stores with no luck. I started looking on line, but I did not know what to call the hat, so my search was hit or miss, but eventually I found you. I hoped it would be just like the hat I saw so many years ago. Hat fits perfectly, arrives packaged carefully. It is beautiful on and I've gotten many compliments on it. I also bought it in the camel color and it is equally beautiful. I am glad Historical Emporium has different sizes and a size chart - be sure to measure your head!

Not what I expected
Ordered this swashbuckler hat , expecting to receive from this site but
What i recieved was this hat yes but it was Disney pirates of the Caribbean hat. Which was not in the description and that's what the tag on the hat said.

I am looking for any hats that can look good while conducting Masonic Lodge. This had does not meet the standards. I thought it would, but it is too over the top. This can only be seen in person as opposed to internet.

Doesn't fit in comparison
to most hat styles I've worn. I ordered a large and it's too small.This is not perhaps the company's fault, but it is a problem. I will be sending it back for either a refund or exchange. However, I do love the products available on the website; but am realizing that for my noggin it is probably wiser to get my hats custom-made.

The derby is very nice and is well made, I really do like it. The problem for me was I thought I could wear the M size but I had to insert size-reducing foam all the way around behind the sweatband to make it fit a 6 7/8 size head.

Good quality hat for the money
I have a lot of hats, mostly Stetson cowboy hats. But I couldn't see paying $248 (typical) for a Stetson Bowler/Derby. So I looked for a medium quality Bowler. I tried a few others that ranged from theater quality (don't be seen up close in it) to reasonable quality hats. One was decent but was mailed in a shipping bag and was crushed. Go figure huh? Send a hat in a bag for the less than careful shipping companies to modify for your customer on the way to the customer.
With the background out of the way these folks sent me one of these hats in a box. A shipping box not a hat box, but for this money so what. It came in good condition and very quickly. The fit and finish of this hat was at least comparable to a $150 quality hat and for for much less.
I like the hat. It fits right and looks great. I would buy it again without a doubt.

This is much better quality felt than the former "deluxe" model derby (although, to it's credit, after several years of daily use, I have consigned the earlier model to "motorcycle duty" due to wear, yet it is still holding up well even to 65mph!) The new Scala model has become my daily "town" wear hat. I have 4 "Deluxe" derbies, 2 Scala, 2 Capas, in 3 different colors, I wear them all, none feel, or look "costume-ey" As these wear, I will come back for more.

Thick, soft material, super comfortable. Quite well constructed also. It does appear to run small, for example I wear a 7 1/4 hat but the size L (7 1/4 - 7 1/2) fit snugly. I'm going to order another just because they're so distinctive.

Being a true 'hat' person I couldn't pass this up. I like the quality. Also, it's perfect for windy days as it's low enough on my head to not blow away. My friends are hysterical that the tassel isn't stuck in place. I also have the hat from BBC "Copper". It's the plain version but I've decorated for each season.
One issue, the Smoking Cap is shipped flat. So I've filled it with tissue to get and preserve the round shape.
