This skirt is so beautiful! It is exactly like the ones you see in vintage Edwardian photos from the years 1900-1910

Nice and full. I'm tall so the length (5'8") was fine. Multiple buttons in the back so I was able to adjust to fit.

When I opened the package containing the black cotton twill walking skirt, my first thought was I was mistakenly sent the navy-blue skirt instead of the black skirt I ordered. The tag on the skirt said black so then I just figured it was the material that made it look a lighter black. When I put it next to my other black items, shirt and belt, it still looks dark navy blue. If I put a pair of navy-blue pants up to the skirt, they are the same color. I love the skirt; it fits well and is very well made and flowingly full. I just wear it with my white or non-black blouse and belt and it looks great.

This is definitely an all-around wear anywhere skirt. The twill cotton material is fantastic, you can wear it in any season and can be worn with any type of top. I have a white vintage lace Georgian blouse to wear with it, also a soft blush color pullover sweater, the possibilities are endless! Can be worn with my vintage black bow tie shoes or boots! Can dress it up or down, with my vintage cameo jewelry or just a bracelet or two. Arrived very quickly and unlike some sellers, in great shape, not bunched up or wrinkled, can practically be worn right out of the packaging! I really appreciate the care taken in sending the clothing, superior care for superior clothing!! Everyone comments on where I got this skirt, among other dresses I purchased here, you won't find these in the mall!! I definitely plan on getting more!

This skirt lives up to its photo. Fabric quality excellent, fit at waist and hips as quoted. But the length....so long. I'm going to break out the sewing machine. Find someone to help me pin it up, and then put in a new hemline. Please consider petite lengths. This skirt is quality, quality, Quality and worth the price.

I owned two of these skirts before acquiring this one, and this one elegantly solved some of the problems of the earlier models. This is not to slag off on the previous ones, but the added buttons on the waist darts are a blessing. A few evenings ago I was out at my local, outside and "social distancing", wearing an almost entirely Historical Emporium rig (the new black skirt, a new white Yukon waistcoat, and a black "pirate shirt" with lace trim, and picked up a comment of, "You look beautiful". As a six-foot-four bloke that's not a usual comment, but it was welcome anyway. It's not just a "walking skirt" either. At one point in time I needed to actually run in one of these -- and it worked!

Really nice quality. I will need to take at least 5" off the length (I am 5'3"). I am a plus sized woman and I ordered this in a 4x, could easily have done with a 3x and will definitely get another one in a 2x or 3x size.

I had to pay $50 to have this twill cotton skirt altered - it was about 5 inches too long. I sent it back the first time; don't read the reviews that state it is too small. I usually wear a 2X fitted but ordered a 3X because of previous reviews. That was a mistake; the 2X was the correct size, but again - no petites were offered and I had to have this altered.

This skirt is very well made inside and out, and looks great when it's worn, because the fabric is a good quality and weight, and hangs well. The measurements are accurate as posted with the description. The two sets of buttons allows you to make the adjustments to get the right fit. My order arrived when promised, and in great condition. A great shopping experience!

I purchased this pinstripe walking skirt and the matching shirt for an upcoming event in my hometown. The event requires us to have on traditional looking 1850's clothing. This outfit is fashioned perfectly for the time period, very well made and fit true to size. I am so impressed and felt the price was great for the quality I received.

The fabric and construction is good quality, but of the 4 skirts I ordered, 3 had to have the center back panel completely removed to fit properly at the waist. These definitely run a bit big.

Although I think the products are a bit pricey, I certainly can not complain about the construction. I purchased both the blouse and skirt and both are very well made. I am new to this time period and a little hesitant about the look of the outfit but I think it will work for 1895. I thought the adjustability of the skirt was very clever and doesn't detract from an authentic look, at least as far as I can tell. I figure I'm saving myself a lot of work and aggravation by not sewing this one from scratch. However, I will be jazzing it up with some borders and an additional collar. I will also add horsehair around the hem. This is all for an event later this month where I give house tours and like to dress to the year the house was built. I think I'm pretty happy with this purchase and will be buying a white blouse sometime in the future.

I love this skirt. It is nicely made and looks great in the black and white pinstripes. I wore it for the first time today (with the matching blouse and a black jacket) for a suffragette outfit that I wore to one of the Women's Marches. These are made like real clothing, not costumes, very nice. The skirt feels very accurate to the period - smooth and staight in front with a wonderful great sweep behind. I wore three petticoats under it for the full effect. It felt great! I did get the hem quite muddy, so we'll see how she does in the laundry!

Though I used reasonable measurements as instructed, this skirt was much larger. Even after washing, with a fair amount of shrinkage, I had to alter the waist. But my whole outfit with the blouse and hat was stunning. I got many compliments at our 4th of July festivities.

This skirt is perfect! The back allows adjustments so that it fits quiet nicely. I used this skirt in my high school classroom for a simulation that we were doing and the students thought that the skirt with the Gibson blouse was delightful and helped to "set the stage" in the classroom for an era that has gone by. I have since decided to purchase the skirt in black so that i will have more options for next year!

I found this to be true to size, with adjustable buttons in the waistband. A hidden pocket would have been an added bonus!

This is a beautiful skirt, with a gabardine-quality cotton, yet it does not crease and is easy to iron. At night the dark royal blue cotton takes on a lovely sheen, especially for photographs. It is easy to walk in, very smart, and I wore it with a wide, black velvet belt and a cream-lace, cotton, long-sleeved blouse (also from Historical Emporium). The whole outfit was lovely and I received compliments on the skirt, especially. If you are a size 4-6, and you purchase the 'small', it is a little big at the waist, so you may need to adjust it. The belt was neat and helped keep the skirt smaller at the waist. The XS size was unavailable but I had an event to attend and wanted to proceed. I would say the skirt runs a little bit bigger, so if you are a size 4, you definitely need XS, not S. A wonderful skirt, with nice features, and very elegant. Thank you.

I love the way the back is made. The only thing wrong is the sizing isn't true to a XXL. I really wear an XL but buy XXL just in case it doesn't fit loosely. Well, this beautiful skirt isn't loose at all. I should have tried it on when I got it but didn't. I will be wearing it tomorrow or I would return for the next size up

Bought this as a fifteenth birthday present for my daughter, who loves all things Victorian. It was a hit. The skirt is well-made of nice, sturdy twill, and falls gracefully from my daughter's waist to the floor. The double buttons and vents and gathering in the back is charming. If my daughter decides she'd like another of these in a different color, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. This is a lovely piece of old-time clothing.

Very hearty skirt I thought it would be tea length but is was to the floor. Also thought it was bias cut but it was pleated. Returned and graciously refunded.....i had planned to hunt in it but too much skirt for easy movement

If I could suggest an improvement, it would be to make these in a petite length. At 5 feet and no inches tall, it was of course, too long. However, I am used to this, and it did not take long to re-hem it to an appropriate length. I highly recommend this skirt.

The skirt was exactly as in the picture. The material is durable and heavy. For the most part the stitching is very secure. (three stitches in the waist band unraveled but very easily fixed by even a complete sewing novice like me.). I am happy over all.

This is a very nice skirt - well made, looks good and is a beautiful, rich brown color. I also own this style in the tan/khaki color. I like the option of the extra buttons in the back which allow for adjustment depending on whether you're wearing a blouse tucked in or an over blouse.

This is a wonderful skirt -- the color is just as shown in the photo (a rich deep garnet), the material is light and flowy, and the cut is flattering for a variety of body types. It is "classic" enough to be included in a vintage-type outfit, but also contemporary enough to be worn in everyday situations. I love it!

This skirt was purchased as a Christmas gift for a friend. She absolutely loved it -- tried it on as soon as she opened it and did not take it off for the rest of the evening! She and her family (as well as I) were very impressed with the quality and beauty of the skirt.

First off all, this skirt was beautiful! I loved it. Unfortunately, I couldn't wear it. It only comes in one size, and while it technically fit me--insofar as I could get it on my body--it was not attractive at all. I am on the large size, and the skirt fit very tightly over my caboose' and did not, in fact swirl and just plain looked bad. This really needs to come in a bigger size, with more fabric, for the plus size among us. I gave it to my daughter, who is much smaller than I, and it looks lovely on her. I hope to see it offered in a larger size some day so I can buy one for myself.

Skirt looks great - simple and sturdy. Weighs 2 lbs! I have not worn it yet - am going to have to hem it up. It is a bit too long - trip-worthy - and I am 5'7" tall.

This garmet was beautifully made out of quality fabric. Unfortunately the pair I received had a small flaw in the fabric in a visible area so I had to send them back. Fit: These riding pants would probably work best on someone 5'4" or taller. Also the waist is very fitted, no give, even though the garmet has lots of flowing fabric. I'm 5'1" weight 125lbs and the waist on the small was pretty snug ( my waist measures 30") Very disappointed they didn't work.

They fit is as if they were custom sewn for me and me alone. The pockets are fairly horizontal so they don't pooch out badly. The fabric is butter soft, and the rise exactly matches my waist to crotch ratio. They swirl nicely around my legs as I walk like a skirt, but since they are pants, my thighs don't have to be overly friendly. :) As I am not a small woman, my thighs do not always have a civil relationship with each other. I ordered the XL - I have a 40" waist and they measure exactly 39"... I'm okay with this. I WANT MORE!!! I can totally see what I am wearing this summer.

The fabric for these sueded riding pants is lovely, and they are lined. The only initial disappointment I had when I received my first order was that the sizing was way off! I have a 31.5" waist and initially ordered a Large that was supposed to fit waists up to 32" but I was floating in them, they were enormous around the waist and not even wearing a belt would have helped. I returned them and ordered a Medium that was to fit waists up to 29" and they fit perfectly. So something appears to be a bit off in the measurement guidelines. I've noticed this to be true with sizing recommendations for blouses as well based on two purchases made. Aside from that these riding pants were a great find and I absolutely love them. The photo doesn't quite do them justice because I didn't think the fabric would be as high quality as it is. I would definitely recommend these riding pants if you're looking for an item like this, just be cautious about what size you order to avoid the hassle of having to ship it back to exchange it for another.

These riding pants are great, I have an American Quarter Horse and have used them to ride in, they are comfortable and perfect for this. The quality is very good and hard waring, only problem is they will get dirty quick using them this way so I will need another couple of pairs, might even have a blouse to complete the look. My stables are based on the Western theme and we have open days where we set the Dutch Ovens up over the camp fires, finding this Historical Emporium site will enable us to dress up to make it more authentic - expect more orders coming you way. This is my second pair of Classic Riding Pants and I love them. They fit well (use the sizing chart), drape beautifully, and I like the longer length as just about any style of shoe or boot looks great. The fabric is soft but sturdy. Does require ironing or quick touch up. I've worn these riding pants with several Historical Emporium blouses, off the rack blouses, and casual pull over shirts. AND, there are two deep pockets! Bonus!

This riding skirt is such an amazing product! I have horses so going out riding or working around the ranch has never been so comfortable! The skirt has so much room for you to move your legs and since it is polyester it does keep you nice and cool on hot days. I personally like to go with historically accurate clothing material but this one makes an exception! I highly recommend this skirt!!!

Size was not normal....

The skirt was way too big. When I was ordering it I was told that they run small so even though I usually wear a small or 4 that the medium would probably fit best. The medium was at least 2 sizes too big. I have experienced other orders that the sizing was undependable.
