I wear it when I'm working in the warehouse and I want a good looking way to protect my shirt, looks great I like it.

I am 6'1" medium build. I ordered the XL Tall. Fits perfectly. Good that it has an adjustment buckle in the back as I am slim waisted and cinched it up so it has a nice tapered look. My vest was made in Guatemala, so I am good enough with that. USA would be better, but what are ya gonna do?

I've a wardrobe for my reenactments and speaking on my war between the states persona. After being invited to participate in a Wild West event I needed a few items to adjust the look. My other vests are coat and tie ones, I needed a working man's look, this is exactly what I wanted and needed. The event isn't until the end of October and I'll be submitting photos then.

This is a sturdy well made garment. It is great for working around the property when a jacket is to much and a sweater is too delicate for the job at hand. Size seems to run a wee bit small, but may loosen up after some wear and a wash.

My usual style is Western wear, but hard to find quality inTall sizes. When I checked some shirts offered by Historical Emporium, the ones I liked didn't come in a Tall size, so I emailed to complain.They said they do offer some in Tall, so I looked again and found this gem of a vest. No occasion. Just thought I would start gathering my western attire. I wore to church and everyone really like it. The only problem I have is that, I measured wrong and I chose my usual size(XL, when I should had chosen 2XL). It doesn't go over my belly, but that's ok, because I can wear it unbuttoned. The bow tie fits great. I want to build a complete western outfit, but I'll have to do it one piece at a time. I would like to get a pair of cowboy boots next or maybe a couple of shirts(Bib styles). Then, I'll work on getting a couple pairs of pants. At least, that's the plan. I'm very happy and glad I found this store. I check this site often and add items to my wish list. This vest is spot on. Had to workout an exchange because I needed a tall - MEASURE THE LENGTH! You'll save yourself the trouble. Once I got this vest though I was sold. The quality is great. Nice solid canvas with a beautiful texture. It's already starting to soften and bend more easily with some wear. The buttons and back strap are all super solid. I reccomend this to anyone who loves wearing blue jeans casual, I knew how good this thing is going to look, just as soon as I saw, and touched it, I haven't seen much of any other clothing offered anywhere else this good. I really like this vest and plan to use it when the weather warms and stays warm to complete my casual/dress up look. Either with jeans and a casual shirt or with a dress shirt, tie and dress slacks.

I am a pastor and occasionally I have an opportunity to do a service that requires a vintage Parsons outfit. I'm going to be speaking at the 100th anniversary of the Easter sunrise service at a famous rock in my city that has been used by traveling preachers since 1837. My other vest was getting a little too tight so I needed a bigger one.

Very good canvas material and well stitched... Seems durable. I use the items that I buy from Historical Emporium for everyday wear and having access to canvas pants and vests at reasonable prices is very nice. Shipping is fast and customer service is THE best I have delt with lately.... I cannot express how happy I am overall with Customer Service for Historical Emporium. The only small drawback is that sometimes the sizes I want are out of stock at the time I want to order. I have checked back at a later date and been able to find the sizes I want, so I would advise others to be patient and check back.

This is the perfect everyday vest, I had to get the extra large and I’m glad I did. It fits me perfectly in the pecs and tapers nicely at the waist utilizing the strap in the back to tighten the look. XL fit best, I’m 5’11 broad shouldered at 220. Quality dense fabric gives this an authentic look of a Wild West/Victorian working vest.

Historical Emporium has a knack of having a the most unique line of fashionable cloths on the planet. The Abilene vest is one of them. A very well made vest and it looks great. It lends itself to bringing a little class to any function you attend. Personally, I prefer natural fibers with the same backing as the front, longer "tall" versions and front-peaks, and wish that these features be extended throughout many of their lines, but the straight cut work vest also has its place. I highly recommend this vest to anyone who wants to improve their appearance and reputation.

I have decided in my old age to wear vests every chance I get. I bought this one to have a navy blue vest. The quality is excellent. The fit is true to size. I have worn it twice now out into the world and have received many compliments. Highly recommend.

A perfect waistcoat for everyday wear, and also for wearing with a kilt. Nice tailoring, fits well, and is very comfortable. Not quite as stiff as the similar canvas vests (which soften with wearing), a bit lighter, and just a little more formal. Colours go well with many of the shirts available trough Historic Emporium. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

The item is lovely, I've been wearing it quite a lot in fact. The color of the item was a bit darker in Real Life than it is on the Picture but it doesn't matter much to me. I still love it. and I still love the quality this store gives

Great vest, but it's a bit hard to iron the old fashioned way. The pockets make it great for organizing all that crap in your pocket. Watch out for guys who are 44 or 46, as they could go L or XL. I got the tight one, but it helps my back.

i saw 5 years ago on the internet the historical emporium page, iwas really impressed,the clothing are very nice, very well made respecting theVictorian era.........ipersonally wear just the cotton vests, because iwear denim every day, but those vest are very well made, excellent cut .fabric and so on........even with denim those vests look totally togheter with jeans, cusual but elegant!!!!!i hope more man they will start to wear vests again like in the past...when the man's were elegant!!!!!!

I was looking for a straight bottom vest. I probably would have bought this all cotton beauty in sable, but my size was sold out. NO REGRETS! This is not only a soft, well-sized, extremely well-made NOT from China garment, it is really a complement to all my clothes, (most of which are HE products, due to their overall quality). Seriously, one of the best "side features", it is well-lined and just heavy enough not to wrinkle whether riding or sitting for long periods. Frankly, I'll bet any color will be a sound purchase for you, so don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I did when I bought this Sand Mountain vest, because til now, I've been wearing a black goat hide, pointed front vest. My highest recommendation on this garment.

I ordered this vest in Medium, which is long enough to wear with Victorian high waist trousers or modern blue jeans. This is a perfect compliment to wear with the Sable Frock Coat and Trousers, and it is dressy enough to wear with modern dark brown suit or laid-back in dark brown jeans and leather jacket. I love the extra pockets, which are deep enough to carry lots of useful items.

Surprised at the heavy weight cotton, less akin to costume wear, more like every day work vest. Buttons are large and tight but will probably loosen up over time.

Excellent fit! Bought the whole suit. Had the trousers hemmed and cuffed by a local tailor, very happy with it all. coat and vest are perfect fits. Good material, wish it would be just a slight bit thicker but overall pleased. Finally a nice suit!

After much searching I found the perfect vest here. Fits well and is very well made. I gave gotten several vests from other places, and that is not the case. I couldn't have asked for better than I got here. And I will definately order a couple more!

My second vest of this style (outgrew the first, it's still in good shape). Quality of everything I have bought from Historical Emporium is excellent. After ordering I learned I would need it earlier than expected and standard shipping might not work. I called customer service to see if I could upgrade to expedited shipping. Customer Service looked up my order and assured me it would arrive on time with standard shipping, in fact it arrived a day earlier than expected. They could have charged me the extra shipping fee and I would have never known the difference. It is so nice to do business with an honest company that offers great products.

Love this vest. It's been hard for me to find a vest that will fit. I'm 5'9" and wear a 2xlt shirt due to having a bit longer torso. I just wish it was available in more colors..I wear it to church and any occasion that calls for a more formal attire...

Made just a little big width. I will have to take it for alteration. It is a nice authentic vest for any occasion.

The lighter weight but woolen mix makes for a good semi-formal wear. Added a modern point collar shirt with a tie and collar clip for a routine bread and butter outfit. Cut and collar were perfect.

I tend to grit my teeth if I have to spend more than $50 for a vest, but I've got to admit it's very well made. Quality material and stitching. So much so, that after I received the double breasted herringbone vest, I was so impressed with it that I bought the single breasted herringbone vest as well.

Its pretty dark for being "gray". I do like the metallic buttons and the quality overall is very nice, but should be considering its 3x the $ of every other vest I looked at. Biggest complaint and very disappointed that the backing was a black linen material, fairly thick and heavy which made it very hot. All the pictures showed a light gray backing which was highly desired to match with the rest of the wedding attire. Unfortunate.

I love this vest! I provides a nice sense of dignity and elegance to my wardrobe and I'm pretty sure my IQ goes up when I wear it. It's comfortable, seems very well made.
