I ordered this cap for my father, who is approaching retirement. It arrived earlier than expected, which was wonderful; dad pulled it out and smirked a little, went and put on his new red pajamas, and sat down to watch vintage Charlie Chan mysteries for the evening. The cap is warm, fits perfectly, and is exquisite in both the detail of the embroidery and the texture of the velvet. Dad has since worn it every single evening as he winds down, and each time gets a smile when he puts it on. I could not be happier with this cap: exactly what I was hoping for, and then some!

This was a Christmas present for my dad who collects hats- he absolutely loved this one! The shipping was quicker than expected and arrived as expected. The only problem was the sizing- I had to order a medium for a size 57cm hat and I could have definitely sized down due to the nature of the hat. My dad likes it all the same- nothing a quick stitch can't fix. Will probably order another for myself or siblings!

If you do the research, even in today's acrimonious society, there is room for something of another era when gentlemen knew how to be a gentleman. Plus, if you're a wee bit shy in the hair department, it really does help to "warm up" the dome without suffocating it.

The Smoking Cap is one of two hats I purchased for my costume as Fagin in a local community theater production of "Oliver!" It looks and fits great - very comfortable. And the quality is excellent. In fact, it looked so elegant that it had to be distressed somewhat to go with the costume. But even after that, it still looks great and there is no doubt that I will continue wearing it on other special occasions in the future!

Smart looking cap! My head size is right on the break from S to M. Previous review stated they ran big so went with small. Could of used a fraction bigger but a medium would have been sloppy. Wifey likes it, so Win-win for me!

This is a great well made hat. I am very involved in the live steam hobby and I like to wear this hat when I am running one of my Live Steam Locomotives. It is very appropriate for the time period that my engines represent.

I wanted a cap to wear that was appropriate for my 1939 Plymouth Business Coupe at car shows. This fit the bill perfectly. The cap arrived in a few days and was high quality and as described on the site. I really like the way it looks and feels when I wear it, like going back in time when I drive my car.

I really like this cap. I found it to be true to size and fits comfortable. I bought it in a brown tweed to wear with blue jeans or other brown pants for a casual look. True to tweed the cap has very small flecks of color which permits compatibility with any color shirt. The top button is neat and the sides of this cap are fuller than other narrow fitting driving caps and that's just the look I wanted. Thanks for this cap.

Arrived in 3 days. My head is 7 1/4" and the Cap fits snug in the medium size. Great Cap well made. I bought both colors. I have had several nice comments about the hat when wearing it in public.

I'm fairly sure that I took my measurements correctly, but the Medium seemed too large (I have a 7-1/8 hat that fits me well, and several hats in Medium that fit me well by different manufacturers). I know the style is supposed to be baggy, but I thought I had about a centimeter or so of give, and the brim was noticeably wide my face. I might have asked to exchange it for a small, but I feared the small might be too small, and the brown tweed wasn't quite what I wanted when I saw it real life. The picture is pretty accurate, but the weave has specks of turquoise in it, which I just didn't think looked right. HOWEVER: If it fits you and you like the look of the weave, it's a VERY nicely made hat. I order from Historical Emporium because I like styles that society has unwisely decided to abandon, not because I like to wear costumes, and Historical Emporium sells real clothes in these styles. This is one of them.

Size was too small (xl). Not even close.

I took my chances finding that right of 8 panel cap...but they have a great return policy if I had any issues. But it looked real good... not too puffy, not too small... just right. love it. I'm back to the 1920's.

Thanks for this hat. While I don't find the tweed fabric itself very interesting, the hat is styled and cut exactly as I wanted. The size, too, is very true. I'm truly fond of my new hat, and I don't mind saying that I've tried quite a few that didn't meet my tastes. Customer service is very good.

About ten years ago, I bought a similar hat made in Ireland at an Irish Fest in the Chicago area. I somehow lost the hat and wanted to replace it. The newsboy cap I bought on this site was made in the USA, but almost identical to the one made in Ireland.

Over 35 years ago, I purchased a newsboy cap for my husband at Disneyland - their hat shop was selling it as a replica of the cap worn by Bert, the chimney sweep (so wonderfully portrayed by Mr. Dick Van Dyke!) in "Mary Poppins." He has worn it every fall/winter since and it is on its last legs! We have been searching for a replacement for the past few years and after seeing your ad in 'Smithsonian' magazine, I found this cap on your website. It is practically perfect (the body is just a bit wider than the original), even made from the same sort of brown wool tweed. The size is perfect and the product is well made. After doing extensive research on the web, I purchased the Newsboy Brown Wool Tweed cap. The pictures looked good and the price was right. The cap I received is much better than I expected it to be. It is well made (in the USA), fits as it should and looks great. I was so impressed that I immediately ordered another just like it in the grey version. These are definately the hats that I will be wearing from now on. Also, although I requested standard shipping (on both orders) they were shipped 2-day delivery. I am quite pleased with the cap I received. I live in Louisiana where heat and humidity are the norm the majority of the year. I was afraid that the cap would be too warm for our terperate climate, but found it to be quite comfortable. We are doing a play and this is a beautiful cap. It will go with my smoking jacket, when it gets here, I'm sure. Just a tiny bit big but I was worried that the large may be to small. It's not too tight and it doesn't fall off so awsome. Beautiful and warm to boot. I've worn it out in public too. Really comphy.

The cap looks like the pictures and it appears to be well constructed. Four stars instead of five because it arrived folded flat, leaving creases on the sides. I can probably steam them out, but I would have preferred to have received the product in a wearable state.

Comfortable, stylish and practical, this hat is everything I hoped for!

I'm very impressed with the quality of this cap keeps my head cmpletely dry in the rain and you can even see the rain dripping off of it. Others tha I have owned had a similar effect however the quality and tightness of the weave puts this one head and shoulders above the others.

If you're like me and need to wear a hat to tame your magnificent locks but refuse to wear baseball caps and don't want to be seen in a fedora outside of a Justin Timberlake concert, then you know how hard it is to find quality hats that don't cost half a week's pay. The cap arrived safely and timely. I liked the looks and construction of the cap. When I tried it on my head, it was too small for me. I had full intentions of returning the cap at that point. My 20 year old son walked by as I was trying on the cap and said, "Cool cap, I want it!" When he tried it on, it fit him perfectly. He and that cap are now inseparable. I have to agree that he looks very sharp on him. Now I am under pressure to finish the 1915 Ford Model T speedster and teach him to drive it.

My favorite Ivy cap was chewed on by new puppy. I searched for a long time and this one came the closest to what I wanted. Excellent quality and very stylish. I ordered a medium and it seems larger than the stated 7-7 1/8 size. But that hasn't prevented me from wearing it often.

Initially I ordered the medium Leather Aviator Helmet in Black. The sizing chart was used. Anyhow, I ordered the Large which arrived quickly and fit well. I looked up the return policy and followed the directions. The return was received and credit processed in short order. On the helmet itself I found the strap buckle arrangement to be cumbersome. So I had my tailor convert the strap with velcro, added a piece to the helmet and eliminated the buckle. Works quite well.

Great service, arrived within a few days of ordering. And, ordering a size larger was the ticket---the helmet fits perfectly, along with the Barnstormer Goggles!

This helmet is well made, looks great, fits well. I have one I purchased a couple years ago and use it driving our Model T Ford Speedster. I just purchased another as a gift. Beware that it now comes with a sticker on the package that warns that it may contain chemicals know to the State of California to possibly cause cancer. They don't say what the chemical is nor tell you if you are at risk if you simply wear it or chew on it. If you are giving this as a gift - decide if the receiver will have problems with that. At least it is made in Germany - which I trust way more than if it was made in China. The sticker is easily removed from the package.

This is a great hat! I wear it to ride my vintage style WW11 motorcycle with sidecar. I found the sizing to be small and had to return original order for a larger size-- but a few minutes on the phone with the staff got another one out the same day with a shipping label for the return-- so no hassle or problems with return/exchange. I have shopped here before and have always had a good experience.

After receiving aviators cap, try on was a good fit. Then came the job of buckling the chin strap with seventy year old arthritic fingers with moderate numbness. That didn’t go so good. The strap, buckle, and holes are very small. I think they could be larger without affecting the styling. A option of snaps or buckles could be a good feature. This is to replace do-rags, which in a cross wind have a tendency to blow off while riding scooter so will be put on and removed frequently. Think this will be a problem. Had one in seventys and eightys with snaps, not as nice as yours, different design, that was easier to use. Mite have to have leather repair shop remove and install some with snaps.
