I usually take a "short" in a jacket or coat, but I ordered the "long" because I thought the regular looked a bit too short. I'm glad I did because I like longer vests. I also ordered the large although I normally take a medium shirt -- pay attention to the sizing chart. The large let out all the way is a good fit for me, but one size smaller would have been way too small. Perhaps it is my monitor, but the vest is not the bright yellow shown, but a dull brownish yellow or "wheat" color that you'd expect canvass to be. The canvass is somewhat stiff and was hard to button, but once buttoned, it stays buttoned. I washed some of the stiffness out and expect it to get softer with repeated wearing and washings. It did not shrink in the washing, but I was careful to use cold water. I like the vest very much and wear it daily for warmth and to protect my shirt from getting dirty around horses and snagged on things, but it is indeed an outdoor work vest and not a dress item (I have wool vests for that). I especially like the four pockets and their placements. I have pretty much stopped wearing my watch on my wrist and keep it in one of the pockets instead and my keys are easier to get to if in a vest pocket rather than in my pants pocket. Being cotton canvas, there is no doubt it will stain and so I'm careful not to wear it around grease and oil and other products which will permanently stain cotton.

These are probably the best pair of pants I've ever owned, I wore a pair for over a year or so before the constant use and abuse wore them out. I was devastated when I could no longer wear them and the Emporium didn't have my size at the time, luckily they finally came back in stock recently and I couldn't be happier! They're comfortable, sit nice and high, and have plenty of room in the pockets. I love the stripes and how they look once properly hemmed, I definitely recommend 'em

I had the opportunity to wear this vest to a titanic era tea. It is a good looking piece, comfortable , and not quite bright as it looks in some of the product photos. I am quite pleased with it.

I've always wanted to find the proper TOPHAT however ran into many obstacles. Finding the correct hat at the correct price, historical emporium hit the nail on the head

The tie is nicely designed and looks great. My only complaint is that the neck band was more suited to a really wide neck. After adjusting the band to my size, the buckle went all the way around to the front, where it was clearly visible.

The fabric pattern looks attractive and authentic. The background color is arctic white, which is a hard color for most people to wear and is not really authentic for the period. The shirt features a left breast pocket. To the best of my knowledge, shirts from the late 1800s did not have pockets. I returned the shirt because the collar is about one-half inch too short in height to wear any sort of cravat or neck-tie with. Even with the narrow band on the "Satin-Puff" necktie, the collar does not look right or work well on a dress shirt. I could live with the bright white color--but not the short collar.

This was my first time ordering from Historical Emporium. My package arrived very quickly, and the vest was packed well. I was thrilled by the texture and trim, and the purple color really shows up great on stage. It is very well made. I used it the following week in my performance, and I received a lot of compliments on the new outfit. Everyone loved the vest!

I purchased this vest for an 1880s historical ball. The heavy wool fabric, the metal buttons, dual pockets, and straight cut on the bottom all give an authentic look. Contrary to pictures and artifacts that I have seen from the period, however, the collar should be higher and go all the way around the back of the neck. The collar on this vest stops at the shoulder line and looks a little strange if worn without a jacket. The color is actually teal, not grey-blue as illustrated on-line. The difference was just enough to clash with my wife's outfit, so I sent it back.

Followed the measuring advice on the site and belt fit perfectly. Leather is top quality and it shipped / arrived very quickly. Great product. Thank you!

I chose to exchange my ill-fitting Wahmaker vest with this most excellent Abilene Vest in tan. I could not have made a better choice! This vest fits PERFECTLY and looks great! It's very well made and I'm sure it will last for many years to come. I looked for a long time for just this style of vest, one with a straight cut across the bottom, a lapel, and buttons, not snap closures. I just wish I could find one like that in leather. But really the canvas is just fine! Historical Emporium has come through for me again!

I am well pleased with my product the charcoal Tall derby. Such great craftsmanship and feel it's great to get the quality that you pay for and expect .

Very Nice & Beautiful!!! Way Better than I thought it would be!!!

The navy shirt has quite a distinct cut, slightly more full than the red workman's (forgot name) I purchased earlier. I am equally pleased with this shirt as the last, and will be looking for a deep green one next. By the way, they wash beautifully, but bleed til second wash, so just wash with darks..and do NOT dry. Hanging them to dry has left the style and size intact. Off to shop...

This swimsuit was amazing. The material and craftsmanship were great! Going to a birthday bash in Mexico and the suit was perfect. The suit was authentic which is fun but my husband said he would have loved it even more if it had an internal pocket. When on vacation we always need money at the beach if they could have had a hidden pocket inside it would have made it even better.

Very much liked this piece as much in the pictures and when I received it. It came in a very timely fashion and the quality of the skirt is excellent, not costume clothing but very wearable and well made. I am looking forward to ordering more pieces from this site and with finding pieces to go with this great skirt. The only drawback is that I am only 5"1 and the skirt is rather long, better with some heels but won't be wearing it unless it dry outside as it does touch the ground. Overall it is one of my favorite new skirts and will be wearing it frequently!!!!

I thought I was looking for a white shirt for my husband until I found this beauty. The shirt fit perfectly (sleeves are long, but that was noted on the website). The fabric is strong, yet soft and the stitching will hold up for years and years.

I was looking for a smooth sole work boot that wouldn't track mud and manure into the house but the shoe I received looked more like some fancy boy would wear. The item was returned.

The holster is just what was advertised. Does the job and seems very durable. Like it,use it, and if I find something else I desire I will use Western Emporium again.

I really like the Ascots I have purchased from your store. All the other ascots I have bought have been to short and because I am a larger man they are hard to tie. Your ascots are very nicely made and have great color. People who see me wear it give compliments and always ask where I got them... I will and have bought many more...

I bought the glasses at first because they looked good, then I found another and more important reason. My 5 year old grand son got glasses not to long ago. He hated wearing them because he thought it made him look funny. After I brought the spects and started wearing them, my grandson started wearing his because grampa was wearing his glasses... The galsses are great and I enjoy them a lot...

I looked at several smoking jackets, and this one won hands down... The material and workmanship is outstanding, and I would recommend it to anyone that likes old school...

Let me start off by saying, I have a big head. I give this four starts, rather than five, not through any fault of it's own, but rather, that it simply does not come in my hat size (7 3/4) however, that being said, I should point out, that there is a solution for larger head sizes, and it has little to do with that horrible idea of simply wearing it higher on the head. I discovered, that the inner hat band is merely buttoned in, and if one decided to take the few minutes to unbutton it, one would find that the helmet fits the larger heads just fine, and quite comfortably, as the lining of the helmet is rather splendid. I will warn, for those with long hair, the the rivets will sometimes pull a bit upon removal of the helmet, but, proper fashion was never meant to be completely painless after all. All in all, this is exactly what I need for the "Explorer's Club" at ConDorCon.

Amazing quality! These are the sort of pants you can wear for every day wear, as well as for costuming... and seeing how, when I'm doing a small con like ConDorCon, and need costuming that also allows me to work (setting up studio props, and the like) these are sturdy enough, and comfortable enough to allow me to do that! This isn't costuming here... this is GARB!

So, I thought I was just getting something for a costume to wear for "Explorer's Club" at ConDorCon, but, this is so nice, and SO WELL made, it might end up becoming every day wear!

The gloves fit and were attractive. Just what I wanted.
