Even though I decided to return the boots I bought from Historical Emporium I kept these spats! Simply put, they are BEAUTIFUL. Well made, quality fabric, exactly what I wanted.

Lovely boots. Very well made. True to shoe size but, unfortunately, these boots run narrow and being made from "man made" materials there is no chance of them stretching. I was not hopeful that going up a size would alleviate the issue so I returned them. These boots are heavy and I believe considered "over-sized" so be aware that the required form of return shipping (Priority Mail) is steep (I paid $16.30)!

Good fabric, nice details on the back vent of the jacket. This gives it a tailored look even though it fits a spectrum of sizes. We were very pleased.

These goggles are a good value, and best for accomplishing the "look". If you're hoping to drive a model T with them, choose another pair.

This will fit anyone and can be cinched in further with a belt, outer corset or vest. It's made of inexpensive fabric, but has a surprisingly rich look and feel, and its sturdy enough for several costume occasions.

These gloves, however simple, complete the look. Don't hesitate.

Headpiece is a must-have item for the period. If you can only buy one piece, this is it. Very good quality headband, hat fabric, feathers… it stayed in place all night, even with dancing.

I'm used to buying tailored clothes only due to the fit I so highly prioritize but due to the fact that I couldn't get the pattern I wanted I decided to make an exception. I had been wanting to get a beautiful red rose paisley pattern vest for a long time and boy did I get one! The fit is to my liking though it is a bit off in the shoulder fit like all clothes you don't have specially tailored ahead of time. There's a decent amount of space even if you order your exact size but don't worry because that is what the back adjustment is for. You can easily tighten it slightly to get the desired fit without any major folds or such on the back. Aside from the non-tailored factor the fit is to my satisfaction. The quality is respectable as well. I have worn it several times and never had any issues so far. The buttons are beautiful and fit the color and pattern well. They are well attached too. The pockets are as mentioned in the description sewn shut which is no big deal to me. You could of course undo it easily. No problem there but I'd say the pocket fold design is meant to be a visible part of the external view. The vest feels great when worn beneath a suit or a coat. It looks even better when combined with a red paisley tie, black suit, white shirt and so on etc. (My favourite) I can highly recommend this to anyone who seeks such a prestigeous and powerful appearance. 5 stars without question. It is everything I had expected it to be and more. I'm a highly satisfied customer and this won't be my last vest bought from this store. Take note however. To those of you who won't go for anything but a tailored fit, even though you may be extremely fond of this design, this item will only fit you around 95 % give or take that amount. Thats the god honest truth. Know that if you buy this you'll get a superb quality beautiful vest but the fit won't be perfect if you're a perfectionist alike myself. Aside from all that. This is a solid buy for any gentlemen with a sense of fashion.

One of my greatest concerns was surrounding the quality and authenticity of the product ordered. As soon as I opened the package and inspected the duster, my concerns were completely relieved. In terms of both quality and authenticity, the duster was precisely as it was represented on the website. I'll be wearing this one for years!

The helmet is lovely, wonderful. I do wish it came in a bigger size.

The design of the jacket is very nice, but the fabric choice is very bad. The polyester has a lustre which really cheapens the look of the garment. It would have been better in a cotton velvet

I received my Western Gun Belt and Holster and was very pleased with the look of the product. It is as beautiful as it is displayed on your website, if not more beautiful. I will probably be ordering again.

I'm a big fan of double breasted vests, and the "Stratton Vest" style is new in my collection of twenty five or so vests (most all come from Historical Emporium). I find that the vest fits well, is well made, stylish, and never fails to draw positive comments. I have the Gold/Burgundy and the Black/White versions and am thinking about the Blue one as well. They're thin enough to wear on a warm day, and stylish enough to wear to the opera.

I wear these pants for every day use, I was looking for pants to wear with suspenders and these have been very comfortable to wear all the time.

This is a great shirt. The fabric is high quality, washes well. It does have to be ironed which takes awhile because of the ruffles but it irons well and stays fairly smooth when wearing it. There is no chemical odor when ironing. Nice fabric. I would recommend it highly and it looks great on. Very sophisticated.

I bought this hat for a friend, as a groomsmen's gift. He was wearing a tux to my evening wedding and the homburg is the traditional hat worn with such outfits. My order arrived in a timely manner. I was a little disappointed that this wasn't packaged in a hat box (since it was a gift). I assumed a website boasting authentic products would sell a historical hat in a hat box. My mistake. It came in a cardboard shipping box wrapped in paper. Also, there was a red feather in the hat (not shown in the image) that made it look identical to the hats I saw on Amazon.com. That was very discouraging. The hat itself was very sturdy/starched. Hard enough that if you knocked on it it would make a sound. Which made me think that it was a costume piece, as opposed to a hat you would wear regularly. Then again, I've never bought a homburg before. The fit is true to size. I though it was too big but apparently my friend just has a really big head. It looked amazing on him. He looked like he just walked out of a 1940's crime drama. And he seemed to really enjoy wearing it.

The bonnet does look authentic, but I added some ribbon and silk flowers to make it prettier.

I really like this dress. It looks like a dress from the 1830's. Next month I'll be wearing it along with the Muslin Bonnet in front of the Alamo in San Antonio. I'm part of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and we are doing a presentation to celebrate the independence of Texas from Mexico. The dress is made well and looks very authentic.

When I received my medium Bancroft Double Breasted vest, I was disappointed. This disappointment had nothing to do with the quality or look of the vest, both of which were above my expectations, but the fact that the medium ran really large and I was excited upon seeing how handsome it was that I really really really wanted to wear it to work the next day. When I tried it on, I had to cinch the strap in the back to the max and it was still really loose by at least an inch or more. The armholes were also cut for arms much bigger than mine. Needless to say, I returned the item for a small and the Historical Emporium carried out their standard practice of excellent customer service and shortly delivered my small vest, which I am wearing right at this moment at work. I have already received 3 compliments on the quality. Another thing worth mentioning is that I am not a small guy. I am 6' 165lbs with a swimmers body (large upper body, slim torso), so if you have a similar body type, then you may want to order the small.

I purchased the Burgandy Wool Frock Coat as the foundation of my outfit for a victorian civil war era wedding. At first I thought the purchase price was a bit pricey, but when I received the coat I was pleasantly suprised at the quality and attention to detail of this item. The color was exactly what I was hoping for. The fit was excellent, using the measuring instructions. Seams were all excellent, no loose threads. A very nice satin lining. The wool material is very soft and supple. The coat arrived on a nice hanger in a plastic bag as if fresh from the dry cleaners. No wrinkles to steam out. I am very impressed with my new frock coat. It is very evident that Gentlemens Emporium takes great pride in their products and has become my goto place to complete my victorian outfit.
